What would be the worst possible ending of the last Harry Potter book?

(I have nicked the idea for this thread from another forum I post on so I can't take credit for it)

My lame contribution was:

" ... and Harry woke up to find it had all been an incredible dream ..."

Then someone suggested that it could end with Voldy writing a letter of apology ...

"dear mr potter, sorry for trying to do you in all these years, i saw so many similarities between the two of us and i suppose i was jealous of how well you handle things, and you're so good at quidditch.

sorry for killing your parents, i just get so angry sometimes and i'd heard this thing about having to kill you and i just got carried away

oh yeah, and sorry for the scar

yours

Lord Voldemort BSC Hons"

Luna will end up with Neville who indeed will sort Bellatrix out. He is getting stronger and stronger by each book IMO.

i don't belong here

DumbledoresGirl · 02/03/2006 21:16

Grindelwald was defeated in 1945 - so was Hitler. Maybe we have a muggle perspective on this previous evil wizard......Wink

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 21:16

I hope she doesn't waste Snape. In a weird way, I sort of like him.

This is how sad I am: I'm one of those people who goes to the bookshop at midnight on the day of the release. I take the following day off from work so I can read all night.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 02/03/2006 21:23

I wonder how Hagrid will get it? Doesnt his blood make curses less affective or something?

I hope all the Weasleys make it through. Although I wouldnt have a problem with the Durselys getting it!

he might whip out the pink umbrella and get medieval, tamba :o.

O/T but did anyone see about that recent charity auction where famous writers were given a blank A4 sheet to write on and then auction? JKR did a family tree of the House of Black and it basically had every magical surname in the books on it inc a Potter. They're all related in some way, magic must be a genetic mutation.
I only caught a glimpse of a bit of it in a magazine but apparently she said it had clues.
Too late to Google it tonight, will do some research tomorrow.

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 22:38

I saw it. James Potter was related to the Blacks on his mother's side, IIRC

Dior · 02/03/2006 22:39

All the pure-bloods are related in some way. Sirius said this in OOTP.

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 22:43

Yep. Molly Weasley is also related to the Blacks. But it'll be interesting to see who Snape is related to.

Dior · 02/03/2006 22:47

Mmmmm Alan Rickman! He's not disgusting enough to play Snape really!

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 02/03/2006 22:49

Maybe Harry is distantly related to voldermorte and they will declare that blood is thicker than water and kiss and make up? Shock

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 22:53

I think Alan Rickman is a brilliant snape. Honestly I think that's the best bit of casting they've done, although Imelda Saunton as Delores Umbridge is gonna be good. I like Kenneth Branaugh as Gilderoy Lockhart, too.

Linnet · 02/03/2006 22:57

Is Harry definitely a Half blood? Has it ever actually been said? We know that Lily's parents were delighted when she got the letter from Hogwarts but is it possible that they were a magical family and Petunia wasn't magical and therefore was very jealous?
And which family was James Potter from? Is he connected to the Slytheins? I think he might be.

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 23:00

Dunno about Lilly, but James Potter is connected to the Blacks on his mother's side. I think her mum was a Black. So yeah, he'd be connected to Slytherin in that respect. Snape must also be connected to Slytherin, but he's not a Parselmouth, so far as we know.

Damn, I'm pretty pathetic . . . I can talk LOTR just as well Blush.

Linnet · 02/03/2006 23:04

oops just remembered that Harry watched his mum and dad in the pensive in Snapes office at exam time when they were young and snape called Lily a mudblood

expatinscotland · 02/03/2006 23:05

Snape also fancied her, though. And she would defend him. A bit like Hermoine.

DumbledoresGirl · 02/03/2006 23:08

Also Petunia siad there ahd never been anyone like Lily in the family before. (But she would say that, wouldn't she?)

tangocharlie · 02/03/2006 23:17

The worst possible ending would be if halfway through the film somebody's spell goes badly awry and everyone turns into a parsnip and because they have no-one left (with arms or a brain) to fix things you have to spend the next hour or so of the film staring at parsnips.

tangocharlie · 02/03/2006 23:19

Sorry, forgot the 'book' part of the title - ok, the second half of the book was just a description of how all the parnips sat there and did nothing for 250 pages.

DumbledoresGirl · 03/03/2006 13:09

PMSL tangocharlie. Actually, I think that would be quite cool. Smile (not to have them turn into parsnips in the middle but if it happened at the end...)

Oliviab · 03/03/2006 13:14

I think Imelda Staunton would have made a better Mrs Weasley than Wotserface. I also imagined Dolores Umbridge to look like the Witch in Simon & The Witch for some reason, if anyone remembers her (she was also the mad neighbour that says 'Fondant!' in Sense & Sensibility.)

eve2005 · 03/03/2006 13:30

wasn't able to read all the posts so someones probably already said this but it's so going to turn out to be neville who's destined to kill voldemort after all and harry's life has been destroyed for no reason.
