Was reading the Wolf Hall thread and got me thinking about what was the first fictional character you got a crush on ?

Weirdly I think mine was Henry V from Shakespeare :-/ followed by Mr Thornton from North and South ( just discovered the tv version!)

What were yours?

Gilbert Blythe again one of my first. Also Captain Wentworth from Persuasion. I'd always go for him over Mr Darcy!

Almanzo, from Little House on the Prairie. :)

Alicadabra · 24/06/2012 16:25

Oh gosh had completely forgotten Peter from Heidi! And Peregrine from The Ordinary Princess, which is one of my absolutely favourite children's book (Apart from The Talking Parcel which may well also have fanciable characters in it but not that I remember. As an aside, why on earth hasn't that been made into a film? It's a corking story and has lots of interesting beasts/mythology to delight the Harry Potter fans, not to mention the film special effects departments...)

Mr Rochester
Sebastian Flyte (before he became a drunkard)

fruitpastille · 24/06/2012 21:07

Thanks leonie Marions angels will make fab birthday present for my bessie mate!

DashingRedhead · 25/06/2012 20:50

Starting really young, I adored Peter in the Narnia books. He killed a wolf with an actual sword.

ShipsCat · 25/06/2012 22:56

Most of mine have been mentioned, but my all time favourite has to be Francis Crawford of Lymond. Possibly the sexiest man in the world, ever. There must be other Dorothy Dunnett fans out there to back me up on this one!

At the risk of sounding like a total wet fart I think mine might have been Romeo. I went on a school trip to the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester to see Romeo & Juliet when I was thirteen and Michael Sheen played Romeo - I've got a feeling it was his debut performance after leaving drama school. The programme had a picture of him kissing the actress playing Juliet and he just looked so phwoar.

Later I also lusted after Leonardo di Caprio in the same role.

I had a bit of a thing about Adrian Mole too - the bits when he tried to touch Pandora's boobs used to do it for me.

Rupert Campbell-Black was another one.

Elsqueak · 04/07/2012 08:55

Lestat from Anne Rice's The vampire Lestat and Queen of the damned...and (ahem) Gambit from 80's cartoon X-men... guilty pleasures!

NellyBluth · 05/07/2012 19:55

Never got the Rupert Campbell-Black thing. Ricky France-Lynch, however...

Rhett Butler, obviously (oh I love that book so much), Laurie from Little Women, and pretty much every hero in the Mills & Boon books I devoured every summer holidays.

Nowadays, I am madly in lust love with Jack Caffrey from the Mo Hayder novels. God he is so fit. But then I have a long-standing fantasy desire to sleep with a detective...

Magneto "Sirius Black. I was 15 when she killed him. How I cried"

Me too! Although I was 29. And on a packed commuter train Blush

I liked Sebastian from the Lorna Hill ballet books. And another one here for Gilbert Blythe. He is popular!

ogredownstairs · 14/07/2012 16:07

Terrapin from Bilgewater, by Jane Gardam. Cheekbones like set squares...Read it again the other day and I still fancy him!

ogredownstairs · 14/07/2012 16:10

Oh and the 'bad' brother in Flambards. Not Will, he was too nice.

monkeyslut · 14/07/2012 16:31

Another vote here for Wizard howl

Also

Joe hardy
Roger the Dodger

and from TV - Arnold Judas Rimmer.

cansu · 14/07/2012 20:33

Rebus by Ian rankin. Don,t know why just seems very sexy.

HugeFurryWishingStool · 14/07/2012 20:37

Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables

HugeFurryWishingStool · 14/07/2012 20:37

haha should've read the thread first! I'll fight you all for him!

MrsHelsBels74 · 14/07/2012 20:38

I fancied one of the Defenders of the Earth when very young...no idea which, don't think I could name any of them now!

Gabeesh · 16/07/2012 09:38

Bigwig from Watership Down.

I was very young.

NellyBluth · 24/07/2012 21:39

Oh, I can't believe I forgot this one! Definitely the first fictional character I really fancied and still do now, the character in the books is even better than the very swoon-worthy TV adaptations: Richard Sharpe. I secretly measure all the men in my life against Sharpe. Poor DP...

Poodlepower · 26/07/2012 20:28

Peeta from the hunger games trilogy....even with artificial leg. Swoon.
