Was reading the Wolf Hall thread and got me thinking about what was the first fictional character you got a crush on ?

Weirdly I think mine was Henry V from Shakespeare :-/ followed by Mr Thornton from North and South ( just discovered the tv version!)

What were yours?

TBH I don't remember fancying a fictional character until I was an adult. In which case, Mr Rochester makes me go weak!

LunarRose · 14/06/2012 18:27

I'll join you in your rubbish-ness [takes deep breathe]

Mr Rochester
and Dracula... maybe a little bit Blush

LunarRose · 14/06/2012 18:28

goes all weak at the knees at Toby stephens Mr Rochester

GusTheOneEyedPolarBear · 14/06/2012 18:30

I have a feeling it was Lord Asriel from the Dark Materials trilogy followed by Mr Rochester Toby Stephens from Jane Eyre

lambbone · 14/06/2012 18:30

Lord Peter Wimsey.

GusTheOneEyedPolarBear · 14/06/2012 18:31

A few cross posts there!

Alurkatsoftplay · 14/06/2012 18:36

Ah Michael, Ah Ralph.
Loved Heathcliff when I was seventeen, not so much now.
More recently was the Dutch policeman in 'A Widow for one year.' (John Irving) But I don't just fancy him. I think I love him.

Ephiny · 14/06/2012 18:37

Probably Aragorn from LOTR. Definitely Mr Rochester when I was a teenager, though now I find him absurd and creepy.

bronze · 14/06/2012 18:39

First was pobably Robin who married Mariella Foster

Thegoddessblossom · 14/06/2012 18:39

RCB. And Dino Ferranti. In fact most of Jilly's gorgeous men.

Mama1980 · 14/06/2012 18:40

Mr Rochester or heathcliffe -so much more brooding and interesting than mr darcy. Says a lot about my taste in men when I was in my early 20's Hmm

FermezLaBouche · 14/06/2012 18:42

Joe from the Hardy Boys. Oh God! :(

Ephiny · 14/06/2012 18:42

Grin at Ralph, the only 'character' whose name I actually remember from that book!

Ephiny · 14/06/2012 18:43

Also, I think I had a bit of a girl crush on Nancy Drew...

uselesslife · 14/06/2012 18:44

A character called Christopher in a tennis book called World Class
I was about 10 I think

BellaBearisWideAwake · 14/06/2012 18:54

Oh I've just remembered Rev Candy who ended up with Primrose in The Darling Buds Of May. I think it was the fourth book. Oh To Be In England maybe? Anyway, there's a series of books that don't bear rereading.

herethereeverywhere · 14/06/2012 19:05

Oh god The Darling Buds of May. I hate those books! Was told to read them by a relative because 'they're so funny!' Hmm read them all and didn't laugh once.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 14/06/2012 19:07

Well, yes, I know. But as a 13yo I was rather taken by the Rev Candy

CelstialNavigation · 14/06/2012 19:31

Giles Marlow in the Antonia Forest books. Especially "Runaway Home" when he was all sailor-like and knocked unconscious.

Walter Blythe in the Anne of Green Gables books. God, I was utterly shocked when they killed him off. I had learnt just enough from fiction to realise that if they had a false alarm missing-in-action death in the preceding chapter, that meant Walter was definitely dead.

TheMysteryCat · 14/06/2012 19:32

yes to Joe from the Hardy Boys too! what was his brother called?

Magneto · 14/06/2012 19:34

Sirius Black. I was 15 when she killed him. How I cried Sad

SandStorm · 14/06/2012 19:35

Another one for Joe Hardy. His brother was Frank and way too serious!

QueenElizaBeatHer · 14/06/2012 19:36

Can't even remember the book, but it was an American teen one. I fancied a ghost biker Blush.

moulesvinrouge · 14/06/2012 20:01

Homer Wells from the Cider House Rules by John Irving. I also love him. We is gettin married (in my head)

susiedaisy · 14/06/2012 20:02
