I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

That's a great idea, might try that

RaggieDolls · 11/01/2019 11:59

Well done @doodlejump1980. That's great.

Today is my WI day and I'm 2lb down which is very good for me. I really struggle to lose weight and it is slow going.

That's 3.5lb overall.

WWGoalGetter · 11/01/2019 12:03

First Weigh in for me today and I've lost 4lbs - very happy. 16lbs to get to goal!
Can anyone give me any ideas for quick meals? I don't get home from work till 6pm and I'm starving. Last night we ended up having fish finger & mushy pea sandwiches - delicious but not very healthy or low point! Hmm

WeightWatching2019 · 11/01/2019 13:37

Desperately stressed at home, work and everything in between so haven't been tracking the last couple of days - not the best start. Just don't seem to have a single private minute to myself, so I am turning to food. I haven't forgotten you all though!! Keep up the good work!! Smile

Can I join? Signed up online yesterday for 3 months. Today is my first day. I have 18lb to lose after having DD 4 months ago. Getting my head around the app but it seems simple enough. My only criticism is the items that say a portion or a serving in the search which is a bit vague and confusing. Cooking a WW recipe for us all tonight.

CamdenTownie · 11/01/2019 14:56

Hi!

I just signed up this afternoon for the three month plan.

I've put on almost two stone since June last year and I feel dreadful, so I'm hoping to shift some weight with this points counting.

I get 23 points daily, which at first seemed like a lot but now I'm thinking it might not be, I'll try and focus on the free foods or the zero point stuff.

I've previously lost lots of weight with Slimming world but fell like I need to control my portions better and WW should help with this.

WWGoalGetter · 11/01/2019 15:15

driggle - you can usually change portion/serving to grams/mls if you'd prefer to weigh things so its more accurate.

ChipsAreLife · 11/01/2019 19:50

Welcome Camden!

Yeah the trick is to fill up on free foods like veg and chicken breasts. Anything that you think is bad probably is! Chocolates, biscuits, cake, cheese etc is all loads of points and you soon realise a biscuit at 4 points isn't worth it!!!

I made the WW Mousakka tonight. Relatively easy (even with two toddlers 'helping') and very tasty! DH had a huge bowl of it and asked for more. It was 2 points a serving so got enough for some gin and slims. Result!

Hope you're all doing well?

CamdenTownie · 11/01/2019 22:33

Hi Chipsarelife (fab username) Smile

I've survived the first day with one point to spare! Although I only signed up this afternoon so I'd already eaten breakfast and lunch, but thankfully I managed to fit it all into one days points.

Tomorrow I feel will be a bit trickier! I've planned breakfast (6 pts) and lunch (5pts). I think planning in advance is something I'll need to do more of!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/01/2019 23:10

If anyone's interested in a free month, which works in addition to any offer you've already joined up with, my link is here.

www.weightwatchers.co.uk/uk/checkout/iaf/?iaftoken=267F913A00

You can apply several of these I believe. If used I get a free month and so do you. It's one of the reasons I was happy to join when I did as I got a free month from ww's own offer, then was able to use a mnetter's link like the one above to get an additional month.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/01/2019 23:13

Tricky today in the staff room. Lots of teacher gifts of biscuits and chocolates in there before Christmas. And now a lot of us are trying to be 'good' they are bringing their boxes in from home to share, so there's lots of temptation.

Today it was lots of cheese and crackers, which happily I can give or take so I stuck with my can of ww soup (emergency lunch for when I forgot my salad lunch) which is the perfect size to fit in my mug, a bit of the french stick that someone had and an apple.

Dinner was a small amount (what was left over from when the kids had theirs) of noodles, chicken cooked in hoi sin sauce and some asparagus.

THEN I made an error and had some potato cakes without counting them. 5 each!!!

lardass88 · 12/01/2019 09:37

2.5lbs off! Chuffed with that 😊

lardass88 · 12/01/2019 10:26

Has anyone else got the app? And do you know what the balloons mean? I know they're some sort of milestones but how do I find out what each one means?

driggle · 12/01/2019 11:10

Thanks WWGoalGetter Smile figured it out after fannying about with the app yesterday.

Going to Costa for lunch today. Been looking at the app to plan what to have. Small skinny cappuccino looks like a sensible option. Must resist the cakes. May have a croissant for 9sp which leaves me with 3sp today when I've factored in breakfast and dinner.

MsMontyWomble · 12/01/2019 17:09

Hi all

I joined online yesterday and looking forward to getting stuck in to WW.
Last year I was with SW but I felt like I needed to switch things up. Having no starter back and limited info about what this plan is all about is bothering me though. Can someone explain the basics of the plan to me please?
Pleased I've found this thread and think it will be really helpful!

driggle · 12/01/2019 18:17

@MsMontyWomble have you downloaded the app? I joined on Thursday and everything you will need is on there. You get X number of SmartPoints (sp) per day plus X number of weeklies. There are loads of foods with 0sp, so try to fill up those mostly. On the app there's a list of zero point foods under the Recipe section. The weeklies you can use on top of your daily points, so if you were going out for a meal or fancied a treat, you could do that because you'll use your weekly points if your daily points are used up. Some people may want to split the weekly points up per day, or save them all for a treat at the weekend. It's up to you. I'm still getting my head round it but so far so good.

driggle · 12/01/2019 19:13

Is there a calculator on the app? If I don't have the item at home already and it's not on the app, how can I work out the sp? For instance while I'm doing my online food shop, some brands on the WW app have different sp, some items aren't on the app yet, others have old info. Is there a calculator on there I'm not seeing so I can input the nutritional info manually and find out?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/01/2019 21:20

I hate the app! And the website. It's so sparse and not really user friendly.

tryinganewname · 13/01/2019 09:11

@driggle yes there's a calculator, just press the '+' button at the bottom and then you can select it from there.

driggle · 13/01/2019 11:00

@tryinganewname I'm not seeing it Blush

driggle · 13/01/2019 11:01

@tryinganewname found it! Don't know how I missed the big bloody + Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/01/2019 11:07

I like thd barcode scanner. But the other day it just wasn't there. I had to logout then back in to find it.

driggle · 13/01/2019 11:34

Any recommendations for low point food or snacks in Tesco would be gratefully received.

@tryinganewname thank you btw! Going to do my online shop and check the things that aren't on the app.

Just signed up too for the 3 month plan, I’ve lost about 3 stone of baby weight but ds2 is 18 months now and still have about a 1 and a half stone to go. I’m currently 9st 9 (I’m only 4ft 11 so this is a lot) and desperately want to get to the low 8’s. I tried earlier this year to do ww but was too knackered to focus so want to get back on it. My dh and 2 ds’s are all quite slim and struggle to keep weight on so I am trying to meal plan but it’s hard,

Good Luck everyone

FiveShelties · 13/01/2019 21:00

Monday morning here and I weighed in at 10st 6.5lbs. A loss of 4.5 pounds and I am delighted. The first week I had more bad days than good and was lucky to stay the same, this week Sat and Sun nights let me down - too many wine points!

So 4.5 pounds down and 8.5 pounds to go. have a good week everyoneGrin
