Well done lady and edd. I had my first weigh in today too, down 5lbs so delighted with that. Have made veggie egg and cottage cheese muffins for breakfast. I made 12 for 8 smartpoints. I think 2 will make a decent breakfast, handy not to have to cook eggs in the morning

Craigieboy · 12/04/2018 22:07

i signed up on the app and attended my first class on tuesday, 1st weigh inn will be this tuesday , finding this ay of eating okay, taking a little to adjust to it but i'm in my points limit and enjoying it

EddSimcox · 13/04/2018 12:08

Hello peeps, advice please. I’m away for the weekend. Most meals will be homemade by a friend (not such a close friend that I can inspect the ingredients). Other than just taking small portions and avoiding puddings what advice would you give? I won’t be able to count. How to guess? Or should I just miss a couple of days? Thanks!

bluelampshades · 13/04/2018 17:06

well done balonder that's a great loss. The muffins sound nice. I take grapes and almonds to work for breakfast and when not a working day either have oats , fruit and yogurt or nothing if i'm not hungry. I don't believe in forcing yourself to eat when you are not hungry and the whole breakfast is essential is bull.

edd don't count, its impossible. Just avoid puds and cakes (if possible) and stick to as little alcohol as possible. Also extras like bread are a no no and i doubt many hosts would care if you leave the carbs like potatoes and rice unless they've done something special to them. Then start again immediately. You can plan ahead next time by using your weeklies and keeping rollovers for these special occasions. Have a nice weekend.

TeamRocket · 13/04/2018 19:00

Well done @Edd and @Balonder!

Good to hear you're enjoying the plan @Craigieboy.

@Edd I would still try and count what you can. Even if you don't, you could still fill up on zero points veg where possible at mealtimes, and save your weeklies for wine Grin hope you have a good weekend!

TeamRocket · 13/04/2018 19:01

Bold fail! Oops.

Littlewhitedove · 14/04/2018 13:16

New to flex...50 next year and determined to weigh less and be fitter. Wish me luck.

Lilmisskittykat · 14/04/2018 13:51

I joined last week so have just completed my first week of the flex plan and weight in.

2.5lbs off in first week - I'm happy with that. I've never done weight watchers before so I have nothing to compare but I'm loving the plan is quite easy to follow though I'm going to have to get better at being creative else I'll burn out eating the same thing everyday

bluelampshades · 14/04/2018 15:08

today was my first weigh in, leader says i've dropped 3.5 pounds, i'm very happy with that . I'm not 100% convinced though , my scales at home register around a 2 pound loss (taking into account the differences between both due to clothes and shoes, at home i weigh naked, at the meeting i wore exact same things as last week, i didn't weigh at home last Saturday though, i left it until next day so maybe it's true).

I'm getting on with it well. It fits around my social life and i can have treats still and even my beloved cheese and ham baguette from the patisserie once i week. It's been of some effort but not painful. I love that you don't have to track when that's hard, I can't track a pub meal as I don't know how they put in of trackable ingredients but i can eat and enjoy things like that and then go onto zeros for the rest of the day. Which is what I did on Sunday and Wednesday . I do try to track most of the time, I think it really helps. I also very much like Louise Parker's method .

Anyway as recommended i tried the Waitrose sourdough crumpets today, they were amazing and low points.

Welcome whitedove I am 50 and i don't expect my weight loss to be so dramatic every week but i hope I lose something .

misskittykat well done, 2.5 off is great !

Littlewhitedove · 14/04/2018 15:34

Bluelamp...it's weigh day on Monday. I'm going out for dinner tonight so skipping lunch.

Lilmisskittykat · 14/04/2018 22:40

Congrats bluelampshade ... off is in the right direction.

Like you, with just a bit of planning, I'm finding the plan easy enough to fit around my life and what I like to eat. I couldn't believe On this diet that I could have a small bowl of ice cream and enjoy it and not feel guilty as I had the points!

For me the difference is my portion sizes as I'm weighing things, but even on less carby food I'm always full. I'm still of newby enthusiasm but, I feel like I could maintain eating patterns if I don't get lazy with all the prep and planning involved

NinaMarieP · 15/04/2018 11:35

I'm my own worst enemy, have lost all motivation and keep reaching for the biscuits!

Had a week or so where I ate a load of unpointed extras, then went on holiday for a week and let myself go a lot. Thought I would get back into it once I was home but I've hardly pointed a thing. Breakfast and the evening meal are OK as I know the points on most things and eat well but lunch and snacks I know I'm overeating.

bluelampshades · 15/04/2018 14:29

nina sorry you're having a tough patch. Do you go to meetings? if so give your group leader a ring/ text, that's what they're there for. Its easy for me to say just step back on it, you already know that. I find the connect section of the website helpful as you see so many people going through the same thing and some amazing success stories. Do you have to have biscuits in the house ? Its always harder when temptation is around, though it isn't impossible, loads of people with kids lose weight . Try and have some grapes or sugar free sweets instead and lots of water !

Paperdolly · 15/04/2018 14:40

NinaMarieP. starting from tomorrow you are back on the plan. Right?

You are not on your own because we are with you as long as you check in and tell us how you are doing. I'm sure from tomorrow you'll be back with the positives. X

nina you can do it. Tomorrow is another day. Don’t beat yourself up. Just start again. :)

I counted at the weekend at my friends, guessing some stuff obvs. Went way over the weeklies and into my fit points. But if I stay within my dailies for the rest of the week I reckon it’ll be ok. I certainly ate much less than I would have a few weeks ago! Not feeling too dispairing about the blip.

ladyme · 15/04/2018 21:28

After my successful first week I slipped a bit too. Not intentionally, but the school holidays are hard. We went away and met up with my brother one night for dinner - ended up in an Italian and limited choice really so ordered a salmon and courgette pasta. When it arrived it was in a thick cream sauce with loads of Parmesan. 🙄 next day was ok. Day after that I was going for a curry and again went into weekly points but it was all guesswork. Then on Saturday it was so sunny and I was in the park. Had a 99 without realising how massively high in points it would be (15) so that was another day where I busted the weeklies (does that remind anyone else of monthlies? Seems like such an odd thing to call them!)

Anyway. Not much I can do about it now. I'm just going to plod ok and hopefully get back into the swing of it! Today has been fine. I'll try to do a bit of extra exercise as well and see if that helps as would be nice to lose at least a lb!

I remember when I stopped smoking, it took loads of attempts and I realised in the end that the key was not to resign myself to being a smoker just because I'd had a sly one in the pub with a glass of wine. It worked much better to carry on congratulating myself for all the days I hadn't smoked and eventually I just stopped wanting the sneaky ones!

NinaMarieP · 16/04/2018 10:27

Thanks guys.

I only do online as I've got a breastfed 8 month old and can't really leave him in the evenings.

Today I've had porridge and fruit for breakfast, and I will try to stay away from the biscuits! Doing my online shopping today as well so I'm going to pack the order with fruit. I actually like fruit with plain yoghurt for desserts/snacks I just haven't ordered enough fruit and healthy snacks lately I don't think.

ladyme · 16/04/2018 13:30

@NinaMarieP make sure you eat all your points though - breastfeeding can really take it out of you

NinaMarieP · 16/04/2018 17:18

I pretty much always eat all my dailies, and I dip into my fit points, but not my weeklies. I should probably drop from 41 to 28 as I am far from exclusively feeding him now but I think I'll stay at 41 until I've at least got into the swing of things again.

I've been good so far today but I haven't logged anything (LO has a tummy bug and I haven't had a minute to myself).

bluelampshades · 16/04/2018 19:09

well done today nina. A woman brings her tiny baby to my meeting, but its in the morning so a bit different. I was starving all the time when i was breastfeeding. I didn't have lots to lose but I didn't lose anything until i stopped. Hope that isn't discouraging ! I think i just enjoyed a cuppa and a biscuit too much, should have stuck to water and grapes. Its bloody hard when you're also sleep deprived though.

ladyme thats exactly the thing i read recently, people don't celebrate how far they've come, they focus on the bad, so a weight gain or a fag, but if you've lost a stone and then gained 2 pounds back why beat yourself up! Its madness. Just step back on the right path.

I don't feel hungry but it's so easy to eat when you're bored (my job is fairly dull). I miss food filling that gap, i eat grapes and carrots instead at work now but it's not the same. Sugar free gum is helpful. I guess its better to face up to work being dull and trying to change that than stuffing down feelings.

EddSimcox · 16/04/2018 23:33

I've eaten 12 points today (and 7 of those were chocolate!). It's quite easy to eat absolutely tons of food for no points. Today I had 0% yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Lunch was a big mixed salad and prawns, with a spoon of mayo. Supper salmon (lots), cauliflower, courgette, tomatoes. A couple of cups of tea with just a dash of skimmed milk. Fruit for snacks at work. So what do you reckon, is this ok? Will I still lose weight?

bluelampshades · 17/04/2018 18:42

well done edd sounds a good day. I have no idea, weight loss can depend on many things , fingers crossed though, a few more days for sure will undo any damage. I like to remind myself its about balance (rather than moderation). I don't want to drink moderately at a festival ! i want to drink all day for 3 days but when i get home I won't touch any for a few days and will eat lots of lovely fresh food. It balances out.

EddSimcox · 17/04/2018 22:40

That's a really helpful viewpoint blue thank you

Balonder · 19/04/2018 22:28

Had a good week this week - down 3lbs so that's 8lbs in 2 weeks. I'm feeling good, doing a fair bit of exercise. Ate all my fit points this week and most of my weeklies so will keep doing that if I keep losing, and stop if I hit a plateau. I am aiming to make 4 fitpoints a day minimum and then I use anything above that. It's working for now anyway.
How is everyone else getting on?
