Blue lamp...EddSym... Hi. Just climb on board and trust the process.

I am doing C25K on a treadmill but I don't count anything for fitpoints as I'm only using just over 100 cals each half hour work out. Exercising gives you stamina and toning rather than lots of calorie loss. I feel great on it and would recommend it to anybody.

Blimey it’s hard! I have 23 points for 24 hours... virtually impossible! I know I’ll learn but so far haven’t managed to make any meal for less than 10 points..

bluelampshades · 07/04/2018 14:40

i have 23 too and started today .

You have to make full use of all the zero point foods. You can have masses of veg with some chicken or fish for zero points, then fruit and fat free yogurt for pudding (again zero points) . Use your points for oil or for treats or for when you really want some carbs or little extras like parmesan cheese. I sometimes have courgetti instead of spaghetti or I go half and half . For me this will be about cutting out a lot of crap i don't need anyway. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, i love cakes and biscuits , but they are going to be occasional treats from now on.

bluelampshades · 07/04/2018 21:22

ooh, just had an email from my group leader, she guessed i'd be on 23 points but has done the calculation and i'm on 26 ! Not sure how to feel about this. I've got around 2 stone to lose , am 50 years old and in peri- menopause so i'm surprised. It's a fact that older people need less calories . I had 19 points today, possibly slightly more as I may have had a bit more milk than I guessed (half a pint for teas and coffees).

Do people eat all their points? I socialise quite a bit so do need to keep some for special events (sunday pub lunch tomorrow) and I'd love to have enough for a weekly treat, an individual slice of cake from the patisserie once a week would be fab

EddSimcox · 08/04/2018 00:26

I ended up cooking dinner for 5 mates and 5 kids last minute. Someone brought chocolate fudge cake and ice cream and we had 5 bottles of wine. Better start again tomorrow!

ladyme · 08/04/2018 12:57

Hi all

I just signed up this week. I have about 3 stone to lose.

Many years ago I used WW smartpoints to stay kind of slim. I didn't follow the points as such but just used the recipe books as my main meal and took leftovers for lunch. That worked well but as I say I just stopped doing that and have gradually put on weight over the last few years. I've pointed up some of my old recipes and a lot of them are double the old points!

So far I'm really loving flex. The meals are quite like mine are normal (don't eat meat, but I do eat fish) so it's been quite easy to adapt and just make sure I monitor booze, cheese and chocolate using the app.

It's been great reading through this and seeing all the lessons you've learned. Shame about the activity points!

I do have a question though - on the app, is there a way of doing a half portion of something. Last night for instance I had a pasta meal but because pasta is so high in points I did a really small half portion and topped up in no point sauce.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and losses this week!

Paperdolly · 08/04/2018 16:11

ladyme. Look at the 'servings' part when you add your food. You can then do it in portions, grams etc. Hope this helps. 😊

I starved myself today and I still ate 29 points. :(

EddSimcox · 09/04/2018 20:36

Does anyone know why if you eat out you still have points for food that is otherwise free? E.g. isn't fish free? So sashimi should be? But the app has points values for all the food at itsu. Same for salad at wagamama.

TeamRocket · 09/04/2018 21:40

@EddSimcox it will take into account how the dishes are cooked, for example chicken might be zero points but have a dressing worth 5 points IYSWIM. You should be able to ask for dressings on the side in most places

Just been to my meeting...5lb off! Smile

bluelampshades · 09/04/2018 22:28

well done Teamrocket that's a great loss.

I had a pub sunday lunch yesterday (roast chicken- my favourite)and 3 glasses of wine, breakfast was only 10 almonds and coffee, and no dinner, just an apple as I was full from lunch. Going well , i'm under points everyday so far, well maybe not yesterday but i didn't just grab a sandwich in the evening for the sake of it so it was a good day. I'm still feeling positive!

bluelampshades · 09/04/2018 22:36

eddsimcox i have no idea, that's one to ask the developers as it makes no sense. If fish is zero points and you eat out and have fish with nothing on it (no oil, raw, whatever) then i would still count it as zero points. It's what's added that's creating the points but ask on the WW site in customer service for their explanation.

ladyme · 10/04/2018 00:35

Thank you paperdolly - that does make sense, seems fiddly but I'm sure I'll get there!

ladyme · 10/04/2018 00:35

Well done teamrocket!

ladyme · 10/04/2018 00:36

@EddSimcox
My group leader said if you're sure things are plain to just add individual ingredients.
But the app takes into account cooking methods, dressings and stuff

Sheepishly walks back in

So after a great first week, a weekend away happened, followed by Easter, followed by a birthday party.

I saw someone eat an apple at work yesterday and realised I can't remember the last time I ate a piece of fruit Blush.

Back at it. With gritted determination. I haven't weighed in a couple of weeks but i'm going to stick to a Friday weigh-in.

Aragog · 11/04/2018 08:26

Ive just started yesterday. Have about 10kg to lose to be back within my healthy BMI.

Did SW before but WW online looks cheaper at the moment so though I'd give it a go.

I have 23 daily points and 28 weekly. Though as I didn't use all my daily yesterday (had about 8/9 left I think) that's gone up by 3 today.

We have friends coming st the weekend so need to be able to enjoy a meal out (Japanese tapanyaki - so lots of fish and vegetables, but also cooked in oil so will be hard to point up. I also want to be able to drink, though a couple of years or so ago I trained myself to like gin which makes a big difference!

Also doing c25k. I started it last autumn but due to the bad weather making my arthritis flare I got off plan and wasn't able to run for a couple of months. So I have started the programme again and trying to build and strengthen the muscles and ligaments surrounding my knee and ankles gradually again to help me. I run on a manual curved treadmill at the gym. I am managing a couple of times a week due to work but ideally need to push it to another day. I can't really risk running outside yet due to the impact on my joints. I don't intend using my fit points for food.

Aragog · 11/04/2018 08:28

Frustratingly I can't connect my Apple Watch or health app to the WW app.

bluelampshades · 11/04/2018 09:47

welcome aragog your weekend meal sounds fine, you have to still live your life or it isn't sustainable . Its about changing your diet forever or the weight will just come back on. And it isn't sustainable if you can't eat nice tasty foods with your friends and family or enjoy special celebrations!

today i am in Uni from 12-6 with no breaks at all. This means I will take my usual baguette (once a week treat term time) , i did consider getting one in Subway where i can track it (some are very low points) but in the end i've decided to go to my usual patisserie where the bread is amazing and have something i really like. I'll have zero point fruit for snacks and there's leftover turkey chili i had last night with kale- i didn't even miss the rice, garlicky kale was nicer.

bluelampshades · 11/04/2018 09:49

p.s i can't use the app on my phone and I have nothing else, i just track at home on the website when i get in from work/ uni.

Aragog · 11/04/2018 10:42

Thanks

Have managed to connect to my Health app via the settings. Apple Watch doesn't come up on the devices, so will have to do it that way.

Back at the gym today too - I don't normally go every day but it's the Easter holidays and dd is revising, so not much else to get on with - it's that or housework or lesson planning anyway!

ladyme · 12/04/2018 01:52

So I went to my second meeting today and delighted to have lost 7lbs! I know it's unsustainable etc but still a pretty decent and encouraging start... really pleased

TeamRocket · 12/04/2018 09:07

Fab @ladyme! Well done

EddSimcox · 12/04/2018 17:19

Hello all. First weigh in today. Lost 1.7kg. Not bad considering what a disastrous start. But miss- planned for today so will have to have supper separately from the kids. D'oh.

bluelampshades · 12/04/2018 18:09

well done ladyme and eddsimcox as long as you're moving in the right direction its all good !
