First off, I know there's a dedicated area in big/slim/whatever but I'm after traffic as it's a bit quiet in the WW section. Second, I know that 5:2 and low carb are popular on MN but neither of them suit me whereas I've lost weight with WW in the fairly distant past and regained due to unrelated issues which I'll leave out for now. I'm sure there are plenty of opinions on why it doesn't work but for me it does.

Just wondering if anyone is thinking of signing up and would like a support thread over on the WW board. I have at least 4st to lose and would appreciate it. I can't go to meetings as they don't fit in with work, so will be doing it online (half price on the website at the moment and Top Cashback give a few quid back). Anyone in?

Just stood on mil's scales. 9lb off since starting on 18 March, 5lb of that in last two weeks. I'm hoping it's not just her scales...

I've more or less stuck to ww while here, avoiding bread and cakes and being careful with portions. It's been tough but I'm determined.
A big party buffet today. Where's that salad...

Miffytastic · 25/04/2017 11:25

That's great Dorothy & Sez!

Welcome TWIFOI (how do we abbreviate you?!)

Sez - I stayed the same, which actually, is good going. I am 6lbs off goal so really need to knuckle down now to get there. I said to my leader last night that my goal is to get at goal and STAY THERE. Which I never do, but given my fortnight that I've had with plenty of normal treats and booze, but also exercise and sensible days, I have hope that I might do it this time. I just need to crack on and lose this last half stone... so back to actually pointing my food for one thing!

Well done on the lbs lost guys. I'm really struggling this week. We're having the kitchen ripped out and are living on take outs. Trying to go for healthy options but not looking forward to stepping on the scales on Friday.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 25/04/2017 17:42

That's fine!

Theworldisfullofidiots · 26/04/2017 12:56

So I've lost 4lbs. I started on Friday but the app seems to want me to weigh in on a Monday. I have today and will gradually shift to a Monday.
Pleased as punch though even though it is the first week.

Want2bSupermum · 26/04/2017 15:15

Can I join in? I started the last week of march and have lost 10lb now. I've gone from 30 dailies and 42 weeklies to 30 dailies and 35 weeklies. I'm doing it here in the US and like how I can follow it if I'm home.

I find the food part ok. I have my meals planned out each week. What I struggle with is exercise and finding something I enjoy doing.

Not quite sure how to tackle this exercise issue. I live on the upper two floors of our building and doing a video in the front room disturbs the girl downstairs. I find the local gyms boring and manky. Running is not high on my list because in summer it's way too hot and in winter we have snow on the ground. Currently I get 49 fit points a week and it is 100% walking. The dog is exhausted and no longer excited about the long walks I take him on.

Anyone got any ideas?

sez49 · 26/04/2017 16:30

Well done dorothy, TWIFOI and Want2bSupermum.

Miffy well done. And yes, I think goal is one target and then staying there will be something completely else. I have only ever been a few pounds away from goal and that was many, many, many years ago. Yesterday my parents asked me how long I planned on sticking with this for. My answer was 'the rest of my life'. This needs to be a lifestyle change for me otherwise it will all go straight back on. I am building in treats so I don't feel deprived and trying new things to make my food a bit more interesting.

I had a gain yesterday, but as I have had some great losses recently and it was my four weekly pattern were I usually gain or STS if I am lucky, I wasn't expecting the scales to be nice to me! If I have a gain, one week in four, when staying in plan, then I have tomjust accept that that is the way it is, so I need to carry on. Overall it is working so well for me, and I have come too far now, to turn back!

TWIFOI you should be able to change the day your new week starts to tie in with your preferred weigh in day. . Go to settings and then under weight settings, in weigh in day select the day you want.

Want2bSupermum I mostly just walk. I don't have a dog. I just go out first thing in the morning before hubby goes to work and then I try to take my son out for a shorter walk (and slower) in the afternoon. If I want to get a few more steps in I sometimes take another quick walk once hubby gets back from work. As you say, the key is finding something that you enjoy or for me that fits in with my lifestyle, Swimming, a dance exercise class, a gym, more walking? What is it you enjoy doing? Although I love swimming, it no longer fits into my lifestyle, so walking is the best option for me. The thing that is motivating me to increase the walking I do is mostly down to the fact that I now feel the fittest I have felt for more than 25 years. Yes I still have several stone to go, but having being so heavy for so many years, I can see how restrictive that was on me being able to do so many things. I have more recently started a dance exercise class, which is fun. I want to do something else,, that might get me using different muscles and hopefully it might help tone some of them too.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 26/04/2017 17:11

Sez you really are quite inspiring and thank you for the info.

sez49 · 26/04/2017 18:40

TWIFOI thank you, and you are welcome.

Want2bSupermum · 26/04/2017 18:45

Thanks Sez It is really hard when I see so many gyms very close to me. I just have no desire to go in there!

sez49 · 26/04/2017 19:48

Apart from the cost, I have no desire to join a gym either! 😄 I did try one many years ago, but ended up paying for ages and not using it. I found it boring! I am quite happy listening to music whilst I walk.

I did read elsewhere, someone was saying they joined a gym to do all the exercise classes that are available there. They don't do the gym though,

I have enjoyed playing tennis (badly) in the past and trying to learn to play golf, but they just don't really fit in with my life now. Maybe someday...

Want2bSupermum · 27/04/2017 00:21

I find the gym classes intimidating. I live just outside of NYC and everyone is doing these super tough classes. I have no desire to harm myself and can just about cope with Pilates. Even with the class I found they have everyone finish with a 1min plank. This is the beginners class! Another mother in DDs class is a gym instructor and when I asked her for suggestions of aerobic classes to try she told me that my best bet was to go with one of three trainers she can recommend who can get you to a fitness standard suitable for participating in an intense class.

It all sounds like far too much effort and the cost makes me want to eat chocolate. I'm big but not obese anymore at 12st 10oz.

Miffytastic · 27/04/2017 22:10

Thanks SeZ - yes I need to stick with it and make this normal for me, I'm sick of yoyoing and I want to model something like a normal eating pattern for my daughters.

Re: exercise - I love Zumba, its a laugh, and you're so busy thinking about the moves and music that it doesn't get boring. Instructors can vary in their style though so worth trying a few. I also like running and stomping up the big hills where I live.

BG2015 · 30/04/2017 19:06

I've joined today. I have 14lb to lose. I'm 48 and waiting for a hysterectomy. I'm taking medication which I think is hindering my weight (but I don't know if I'm using that as an excuse) so I'm knuckling under and tracking.

I've been doing My Fitness Pal but I don't think I'm totally honest. This is costing me money so it needs to work. I have loads of lovely clothes that are too tight and I can't afford to buy anymore.

I'm doing it online as the class thing is so dull.

Want2bSupermum · 30/04/2017 19:30

Welcome BG. I wish I only had 14lb to lose! The classes are good for me because they keep me accountable. The lady we have every other week annoys me greatly. We had a class about stress eating and when I shared that I'm looking to change jobs because my current role is far too stressful she said I was being extreme. I've been working 100+ hours a week for the past 3 months and before that I spent 5 years working 80+ hours a week. My health has suffered and I'm heavy in part because of the excessive stress from my job.

TheOriginalAngel · 01/05/2017 11:02

Hello, Newbie here, and struggling to get my head around the plan. I have read the thread and most posts in this section.

Want2bSupermum · 01/05/2017 13:50

Angel What are you struggling with? Do you have the app on your phone? I love the app!

TheOriginalAngel · 01/05/2017 15:35

Thank you 2b. I was trying to work out points dinner for hubby on counting and me on no count. I have swapped to counting.

I am online only as no meetings near me (or indeed within 300 miles of me) and am surprised there is no book included.

I have worked out how to use the app, but not sure if I should eat my fit points or not, and connect took some getting used to. I think I am okay now having spent a few hours on it.

Want2bSupermum · 01/05/2017 16:05

I do not eat my fit points. I try to keep to my daily points only as this works best for me. If I go over it is by 1-2 points only.

I think it is easier to count points rather than do no count. I like that it is forcing me to consider my food choices and portion control. I would struggle to do WW without the meetings and would do the online 1-1 support if no classes near me. The weekly meeting keeps me accountable. I would do the 1-1 support on a Monday. For me, doing the meeting on a Monday evening forces me to reign it in over the weekend, my most challenging time of the week.

TheOriginalAngel · 01/05/2017 18:30

Thank you 2b

Theworldisfullofidiots · 05/05/2017 06:59

Lost 2lbs so 6 lbs in total. V pleased with that. Woo hoo.....

BG2015 · 05/05/2017 07:49

I joined on Sunday but decided to have my weigh in days on Friday - today! I've lost a 1lb, which I'm happy with as I don't have a lot to lose. Plus I really should have weighed in on Sunday so I'm 2 days early.

Hoping that makes a difference next week on the scales.

I have felt hungrier as the week as gone on so I've had to have a weetabix before I've gone to bed. Not really liked doing that so I need to look at eating something more filling for eve meals next week.

All a learning curve I suppose!

Want2bSupermum · 05/05/2017 10:50

Try filling up more on veg and lean protein. Fish is your friend. Canned fish is affordable.

BG2015 · 05/05/2017 16:52

I've got tuna planned for this evenings meal!

randomer · 05/05/2017 17:15

I'm in (again). Would love to lose a stone. Lets see.
