Does anyone want to join me?! Smile I need to lose 3 stone hopefully a stone and but in time for March if I can!

I'm already a member of ww online I have the app and just getting used to the new smart points system! Like a refresh think it will be good to do something new again!

Bought a fit bit with xmas money and had it two days love it already! It updates activity points onto the ww app though I won't be eating these.

Hopefully if anyone joins me we can motivate each other

I can't decide what I think of smart points. I lost 4lbs in the 2 weeks leading up to Xmas by following it, regained that and now am struggling a bit. It seems v restrictive if you want any kind of treat (and I don't often eat treats unlike lots of people I know who would have chocs or whatever everyday on propoints)
I've been genuinely hungry despite trying to fill up on fruit and veg - and I'm wondering if I'm eating TOO much fruit now?!
Going to stick with it though as I only want to lose a few lbs now anyway

uppitywho · 15/01/2016 08:30

I still think if you religiously weigh everything and stick to the daily allowance on at least 4 days, use no fit points and don't use all the weeklies you can still lose - its just that gets a bit monotonous and you have some weeks when you can loosen the rules and pick up the next week/next day

uppitywho · 15/01/2016 08:30

anyone fancy linking up on fitbit?

FoofooLeSnoo · 15/01/2016 10:40

Hello all, can i join please? l'm so hungry today!! I'm on my second week of smartpoints, and its not been bad, although no weight loss yet due to hormonal bloating. I'm finding the increase in milk annoying as on the old points and propoints system I never used to count milk points, now I'm thinking I might have to!
Got a lovely meal out tomorrow but I'm sure my weeklies won't cover it! Still the point is it has to be sustainable over a lifetime so the occasional blow out won't hurt long term.
How are you all finding it when it's so cold all you want to do is eat? Grin

poorpaws · 15/01/2016 10:57

Oh dear I did feel sorry for myself last night. Thank you for your support uppity. Every Thursday I have to get up a lot earlier than usual so every meal is earlier and by the evening I am so hungry. I nearly caved in last night but didn't, it was difficult but I'm so glad I resisted and today I feel happy with myself. I do think writing on here helped, though I did sound pathetic. Thank you all. Onwards and downwards. X

poorpaws · 15/01/2016 11:06

I wondered if we should have a Top Tips addition here or My Favourite Recipie because it's amazing how many little obvious tips can help.

As a sweet-aholic my favourite pud is a crushed meringue with fresh or frozen raspberries and a WW fromage frais. It's a little like an Eaton Mess and only 2 pro points (sorry not doing smart points so not sure on them).

Top Tip (very obvious but helps) if you are about to "fail" at home strip off and expose your worst bits to the mirror (in my case a very nasty sight).😀

uppitywho · 15/01/2016 18:21

poorpaws glad you got over the dip, my top tip- a banana eaten slowly with yoghurt if necessary - feels filling to me and 0 points
Some times we are actually thirsty but feel hungry so drink - fizzy water for me
foofoo is right we can take a day off , I am just a bit more thoughtful about choices - sorbet for pud (except today when I missed lunch and was soooo hungry at the train station at 2pm I had a ginsters sausage roll Blush 9 points ....and a take out sandwich ...oops. I should avoid my weekend wine tonight in penance but that aint gonna happen, lesson learned -prepare lunch and don't get ravenous or you make shit choices ....

FoofooLeSnoo · 15/01/2016 18:55

I agree with uppity that planning meals is so important to avoid that crazy-hungry food frenzy like me last night with crumpets! I counted them and still managed to keep within my points which was lucky.
Has anyone tried the 16.8 fasting in combination with weightwatchers? I'm finding it quite good as it allows me to have more points for dinner and a few healthy snacks if I skip breakfast.

CharleyDavidson · 15/01/2016 20:46

I had a carvery lunch today. I served myself the usual amount... then had to leave half as was soo full. That's one thing I notice about following the plan. I am used to eating a lot less. My friend on SW ate all hers, but she loves SW as she can eat big portions (of healthier stuff) whereas I have got used to not eating so much.

I have had a rubbish evening though. Tomato soup and 2 slices of bread with butter does not make for a low point tea. Nor does the 3 chunks of toblerone that i had when DH brought one home.

That's it for me then, today!

I have the makings for various meals and am making a meal plan now. I have a slimline calendar where I jot down what I plan to make each day, then I hang it up in the kitchen.

I have...
heck pork sausages to make a casserole,
lean pork steaks (thin) to make pork layered with stuffing which I then bake.
There's a lot of pork in the pack so I also have hoisin and garlic stir fry sauce to make pork stir fry with stir fry veg.
Chicken to roast with mixed roast veg. Leftovers may be used to make wraps the next day.
And I have a gammon ham to roast a different day.

I've found it useful to sometimes cook something the night before, especially if it will take a long time to cook. Then we don't end up getting in late and abandoning the plan because we are too hungry to cook something that takes too long. The chicken we eat freshly roasted, but the ham is nice pre-cooked, then heated the next day or eaten cold.

Marmitelover55 · 15/01/2016 20:53

I had my first weigh in last night and had lost 3 pounds. I was a bit disappointed as I lost that all in the first couple of days, then stayed the same.

We have a canteen at work with very nice food (this is responsible format least some of my recent weight gain). I have been having soup for lunch every day but have no idea how many points it is. I have been estimating but wondering if I'm guessing too low?

I am doing dry January too and tonight I am really missing a glass bottle of wine Blush.

CharleyDavidson · 15/01/2016 20:53

My tips are definitely...

Plan ahead.
Always count and track
Keep an eye on portion sizes and weigh things from time to time to make sure the sizes aren't creeping up.
Start meal plans with the lean protein and the veg, then add a sensible amount of carbs.
Keep bags of veg in the freezer so there's lots of choice to bulk out meals.

Cook some things the night before if you are going to be in a hurry the next day.
Keep a few emergency meals in the freezer. I love the fish in parsley sauce, served with (bought frozen) mash and peas.
Drink plenty.
Try and identify your danger habits and think of strategies to break them.

Charliej86 · 16/01/2016 14:30

I've lost 3lbs I'm really happy with that, that's my Xmas gain gone. I actually had takeaway pizza last nite too. I've also notice I can't eat as much, I only had 2.5 slices where I would usually have 4/5 easy. I'm trying to meal plan for this week, I have tea easy as kids helped but I don't know about dinners. X

Blankiefan · 16/01/2016 22:34

I'm in. WW veteran - I've lost 4 stone each on vintage and propoints. Just a shame I out it back in each time. This time, I'm cracking it.

I started in November at 16 stone on propoints. Everything great then smartpoints - which I really don't enjoy.... However, they have quickened up my loss. 8 pounds over last two weeks (albeit 5 of those was Xmas weight I put on in my 2 week festive ww break). So - 1.5 stones so far and another 4.5 to go. I'd like to do it before October but if it takes a bit longer, so be it.

Belts in for the long haul...

elfofftheshelf · 17/01/2016 16:18

Hello, I'm a WW newbie. Joined on Weds via a meeting. I've never done it before and compared to more restrictive diets I have done in the past it doesn't seem too bad. I've got 20lbs to lose. Ideally I would love to get down by a stone in the next 8 weeks, but I'll see how I do after my first weigh in. Loving the top tips on here. I'm making a big pan of veg & lentil soup tomorrow with the aim of having low point, filling lunches for the coming days.

poorpaws · 17/01/2016 19:33

Second weighin and I've lost 1 1/4 lbs. i'm not too disheartened by that. Good luck for all your weighins this week and hope you all have a loss.

Shoveyergrannyaffabus · 17/01/2016 20:17

I've just made roasted cauliflower as a point-free side dish, rather than potato mash. It was lovely.

Smallish, even florets with a few sprays of oil, salt and paprika dusting cooked in the oven for around 40 mins at 170C. Stir half way through.

Quorn seems to be OK points wise so that and lots of veg seems to help me cope with the evenings better.

purplewhale · 17/01/2016 21:20

I'm struggling to stay on track. I've just had a bowl of frozen fruit to stave off cravings...allowing each berry to defrost in my mouth means they take longer to eat.

I had a binge yesterday and I don't know why. I didn't have the points for it. I've drawn a line and started again today.
I've also stocked up on cooked meat, weetabix and tins of soup. I also got crumpets as they are pretty low - 8sp for 3. I used to eat wraps but they are 6-7 each!

Miffytastic · 17/01/2016 21:31

Hey all, I have had a good week but this weekend has been tricky... used pretty much all my weeklies in one day yesterday: 3 pub G&Ts, slice of lemon drizzle, a flapjack... Oh and one slice of DH's amazing home made pizza. I was actually restrained (except for the flapjack) and didn't eat the hole pizza or drink cider...by I fear it will big help me at tomorrow's weigh in....
Does anyone else eat all their weeklies on a weekend - And do ok?

Marmitelover55 · 17/01/2016 22:20

I had a bad at yesterday. I had used all of my points plus a couple of weeklies, then went to the cinema and ate a massive carton of flapjack Blush. Glad weigh in isn't until Thursday. Goodness knows how many points that was....

Charliej86 · 17/01/2016 22:22

Miffy I don't even track on a weekend (weigh day is Saturday) I can have 3bottles of wine pizza or Chinese, pub Sunday dinner from Friday to Sunday. Last week I even shared a chorizo camambert and lost 3lbs.

I don't feel like I try especially hard to make up for it through the week.

gamerwidow · 17/01/2016 23:06

I eat all of my weeklies at the weekend. I do still track everything though. I used to do the same with pro points and still lost.

Miffytastic · 17/01/2016 23:19

Thanks Charlie and Gamerwidow (ha! Good name - I'm one too)
It reassuring to know others use them all up.

gamerwidow · 18/01/2016 07:25

Smile 2 more lbs off today.
My top tip is to meal plan. I track breakfast lunch and dinner plus treats for Friday and Saturday at the start of the week. That way I know exactly how many points I have to play with if I feel my resolve weakening through the week.

notasillysausage · 18/01/2016 10:03

Another 2.5lbs off (on propoints). That's 10lb in total. 2st 12lbs to go!

I had two meals out this weekend but planned carefully so I am pleased with my loss. Getting very broody now, can't wait to lose the rest then we can ttc.

uppitywho · 18/01/2016 15:28

1.5 lbs off this morning. Still just over that annoying 13 ST barrier. Quite glad though as I wasn't religiously pointing at the weekend. Internet shop about to arrive and weeks dinners planned. Well done on all the losses. Hey poorpaws a good loss despite your mid week woe!!
