So who else is back to the WW routine in January?

I lost weight slowly and steadily on the 'filling and healthy' ww plan last year. Lost 16lbs over 16 weeks and I am back within my gold buffer zone but not quite where I'd like to be yet. Have had a couple of weeks off over christmas but planning to weigh in on Monday at my meeting...which I expecte will be rammed!
I also need to increase the exercise as that waned a bit in December.

Hope to have some company on this board for the new year. What are your aims?

We were away this weekend again. Normal weigh in is Sunday so I weighed on Friday instead and lost 1kg. Then when I got back I weighed again and had put on 2kg. Damn those hotel buffet meals! Blush

So now I have a dilemma. It's my birthday this weekend and I'd been planning to go to the cheese buffet as my treat. This promise to myself is what's kept me on the straight and narrow since I started. But I don't think I'll have lost those 2kg by Sunday and am scared of stepping onto the slippery slope of 2 weeks going off plan. WWYD?

KitKat1985 · 10/04/2015 08:49

Hedgehog I would let yourself have a day off. Birthdays only come once a year so enjoy it! Maybe just try and save as many propoints as you can beforehand and be extra good until then as a compromise, and do some exercise the day before or something? x

BugritAndTidyup · 10/04/2015 09:48

HI everyone. I rejoined WW online about 2 weeks ago, and would like to join this thread for a bit more motivation (although it's going well -- 3 and a half pounds lost at my first weigh-in).

I've noticed my 4pm munchies attack has all but vanished and I'm finding it easier to get up in the mornings, so something good is happening to my sugar levels.

I'm cheating though, as I'm combining WW with 5:2, and two days a week I'm trying to stick to 20 PP, with the aim of loosening up on my tracking the rest of the week (possibly just keeping tracks of treats, as that's where my weight-problem lies, not so much in the main meals I eat). I've got a holiday coming up in May, so trying to lose as much weight as possible in as sustainable a way as I can.

I just love the WW tracker and find the recipe builder really handy -- I can't be arsed with the free calorie trackers out there.

BugritAndTidyup · 10/04/2015 10:09

Hedgehog, what KitKat said basically. I'm a firm believer that a diet has to be sustainable, and skipping your birthday treat that you've been looking forward to is very definitely not sustainable.

Can you plan to make some low PP meals in the days running up to your birthday? I find massive bowls of soup with some protein and lots and lots of veg very filling for not very many points at all.

And am I right in thinking it's only a 1kg gain overall. So nothing in the scheme of things.

BugritAndTidyup · 10/04/2015 10:11

Oh, and KitKat? 1 and three quarters pounds is a brilliant weight loss, especially over Easter. Well done.

hedgehogsdontbite · 10/04/2015 10:39

We go away every couple of months to visit my DD at university. The hotel we stay in is all buffet meals so I save all my weeklies from the week before and the week after, which seems to be working ok so far. I guess I'm panicking because there's no time in between to reassure myself that I'm OK. But you're right, it's once a year and I want to get into the habit of having treats like this just for special occasions so it's sustainable. I'm dribbling at the thought of cheese buffet Blush.

KitKat1985 · 11/04/2015 08:40

Welcome BugritAndTidyup and thank you! :) Crossing fingers for a similar loss this week. Your first weigh-in loss was brilliant! x

sebsmummy1 · 11/04/2015 23:44

Started WW today. Was last a member about 25 years ago!! I got to target with Slimming World two years ago whilst I was breast feeding. Then stalled, then moved house and started with a new consultant I didn't gel with. A year or so and one stone on later I have decided to give WW a go.

The last half stone went on with my miscarriages unfortunately and my rounded tummy is a horrible reminder. So time to get it gone Grin

I have 26 points a day and today only managed to use 14! Consultant said it's really important to use them all so that's the plan. I stuffed my face day before weigh in this week so I'll be amazed if I don't lose a fair bit on my first week. It's the subsequent weeks that will show if it's working or not I think.

I've decided to go with ProPoints initially as I need to get away from bread and butter and cheese. Hopefully if I see how many points a small amount takes up of my daily allowance I will knock my addiction on the head.

BugritAndTidyup · 12/04/2015 08:52

Hi Sebsmummy. Welcome to the thread I'm new too. I'm sorry to hear about your mcs they're shit, aren't they? (And by shit I mean heartbreaking).

I've done both Slimming World AND Weight Watchers (and am now moving towards 5:2), and find WW far better: it's much more adaptable, I'm leery of the obsessively low-fat nature of Slimming World, hated the way they were CONSTANTLY touting for people to become fricking consultants (seemed a bit pyramidy to me) and I like the way WW's online tracker works. Their app is excellent too.

Slimming World's recipes are generally very good though.

Anyway I've blathered on for long enough. What's everyone having for Sunday lunch?

We're having the curry of the month from one of the recent issues of Slimming World magazine -- Keralan prawn curry.

sebsmummy1 · 12/04/2015 15:55

Aww thanks for the welcome Bugrit, and yep MCs are truly shit with bells on.

I've stuck to plan today. 9 points for dinner, still have my weekly points if i want to use them. It's shocking how easy it is to rattle through points!! I had some seeds, three points gone, some ready cooked lentils, four points gone!! Two Linda McCartney sausages that were free on SW, three points on WW. No wonder my weight lost stalled, you can't help but lose weight if you stick to points properly!!

I if feel like I'm on a diet but to be honest I just want to lose weight so i don't really care.

sebsmummy1 · 12/04/2015 15:56

*I do feel like

sebsmummy1 · 12/04/2015 19:15

Btw which are the best WW forums? There seems to be lots out there and wondered what are the best?

KitKat1985 · 13/04/2015 19:34

Welcome Sebsmummy. Sorry to hear about your MCs. xx

I don't know much about forum's - I'm finding the online WW site message board rather quiet.

WI for me tomorrow. I got through a lot of points at the weekend so not too sure how it's going to go....

BugritAndTidyup · 17/04/2015 08:26

Ugh, bit of a tough day yesterday. I think I was coming down with something and caved into the snack attack. But I've just tracked it and it wasn't as bad as I feared.

Regarding forums I've found the official WW one to be the one I mainly use. I sometimes lurk on minimins but find it pretty quiet as well.

KitKat1985 · 17/04/2015 13:29

Don't worry too much about one snack attack Burgit. It happens, as long as you get back on the wagon.

Not going too badly here,. My WI day was Tuesday and I'd lost another pound. Was hoping for a bit more but hey hum. Doing okay since Tuesday, but the weekend is usually where most of my weeklies disappear, so we'll see. I really struggle at the weekend as DH is home and he'll want to do things like get a take-away or go out for lunch, and whilst a treat or two a week is okay, he likes his food (he's 6'3 tall and over 17 stone) and would merrily eat things all weekend if left to his own devices, and if I start to say I can't really do that / join in because it's too many WW points he gets a bit fed up and clearly thinks I'm being boring.

hedgehogsdontbite · 26/04/2015 09:15

How's everyone doing? I'm still heading in the right direction but have hit a patch of very low losses. It a bit soul destroying but I keep keeping on.

hedgehogsdontbite · 02/05/2015 20:17

Am I the only one still on the wagon?

mistletoeprickles · 03/05/2015 13:24

I've just started today, I'm doing the plan completely from home as I did four years ago and it worked a treat Grin
My BMI is classed as ok but its on the higher end of scale. I intend to lose about 17 pounds and also hoping a weight loss will help with fertility treatment

hedgehogsdontbite · 03/05/2015 14:29

Good luck.

poorpaws · 04/05/2015 01:36

Hi hedgehog I'm joining you again after jumping off the band wagon in glorious style (with a half stone gain I think). Hey ho back to the grind now. Well done you for sticking with it.

hedgehogsdontbite · 04/05/2015 07:06

Half a stone isn't the end of the world. 4 or 5 weeks and that'll be gone. Although I guess it's relative to how much you want to lose.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 05/05/2015 12:02

Can I slink back onto the thread Blush

I got disheartened at never really using and gave up. Then I came off the mini pill (it killed my libido. Which I suppose is a form of contraception!) and went back on the normal pill. Stopped a month ago and have lost a pound each of the last two weeks.

So now I'm back on it properly.

Glad to see so many people doing well. Sorry for those who are struggling.

Redcherries · 05/05/2015 17:10

Hi All,

I'm useless at posting then staying with a thread but I'm going to give it a go if I may?

With Holidays and occasions plus a big increase in social life over the last 6 months I've gained 13lbs. I am currently 3lbs down from when I weighed last week but my 'weigh' day is Friday starting this one coming. I'd like to be 9lbs lighter than I am now by mid June! Hauling arse back to the gym classes (I'm a runner but find I maintain my weight easier with classes thrown in)

My weight gain is purely wine as I am a fairy well behaved eater and regularly run/exercise, so I have to give up school night naughtiness. TBH it really won't hurt to curb the booze, it's crept up too much with the social life and I can't balance weekend stints with school night 'relaxers'.

Does anyone have any little short cuts? I use the pasta replacements (Eat water, currently in the H&B 1p sale) and replace potatoes with butter nut squash. I will now be replacing wine with hot choc an dearly nights in front of a film ;)

poorpaws · 05/05/2015 22:05

Well that was a terrible start to the week! My daughter turned up with a Chinese takeaway last night which we washed down with booze and finished with chocolate (extenuating circumstances because we had to have our lovely cat put to sleep). Today we went shopping so had lunch out and dinner and tomorrow we are having dinner out which was planned a while ago. Amazing! I hardly ever go out and I start a diet and have three months outings in three days. So I guess my diet will start on Thursday.

Hedgehog just for info I have 2 stones to lose. Well done to u for staying on here as we all faltered.

Penguin well done on slinking back and stick with us.

Redcherries stay with us and post regularly I need all the help I can get.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 05/05/2015 22:08

Thanks Poor. Does a filling and healthy day today and found it really easy. Seemed to eat loads and didn't use any points. Definitely going to throw a few of those in there.

Mmmmmm takeaway.Grin
