Do you do party bags GT?
Maybe you would like my custard creams? I think you could give each child a party bag full of them?! Your DS will love it, i know
It would be novel, that's for sure!!!

I have a tin shaped like a custard cream full of the little buggers. DH saw it in M&S last weekend , and thought it was 'fun'

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2010 19:40

well done pretty on only gaining 2 lbs on holiday

custard creams are 1.5p and pancake rolls are 7.5 each - tho cant see how can be 7.5

had a lovely birthday yesterday, ate far too much but have been good today

bebejones · 20/07/2010 19:45

I'd much rather have 5 custard creams over 1 pancake roll!

I'd not even thought of party bags but I don't think I really want to 'go there' do I?!

You guys are seriously making me want cake/biscuits & I have been sooooooo good all day!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/07/2010 20:07

No Bebe, you really don't. My two have been to parties where the party bag / party present whatever, clearly cost more than the gift we gave!

So another reason to accept my idea of custard cream party bags! It would certainly give other parents something to talk about!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2010 22:48

i did party bags for my 2yr in june

went to the poundshop and brougt 10 books (pop up fairy tales and washing machine ones)at £1 each - actually was 99p and gave those with some bubbles -all loved their books

just going to eat pickled onion monster munch in bed - night all x

bebejones · 21/07/2010 08:40

Might just do that then, it's not like the kids are going to be that old, the oldest one coming is 6 but mostly they are toddlers!

DD has her toddlers summer party today, she is so excited & keeps saying 'come on mummy, lets go!' Hoping it tires her out & she has a decent nap! Will have to try and stay away from the party food!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/07/2010 09:33

I really had the munchies last night, I just wanted to graze and graze and I had to be really focussed not to just stand by my fridge and eat the contents.

What was that all about?!

GettinTrimmer · 21/07/2010 12:19

I would like your custard cremes Piste, but not for the party bags

Blondes, hope you enjoyed your pickled onion monster munch in bed!

I don't think I did party bags at 2yo, but even tat from Wilkinson's bumps it up.

Piste at the party bags costing more than the gift!

I've just had x2 pieces of toast with egg and 5 sprays of fry light, beans. Had bread at breakfast too. I know eating bread for some reasons piles the weight on me. I will be happy to sts this week, not being very vigilant.

Just seen ds in the playground at school, was helping this morning and he's told me he has no friends so no-one to invite to his party. I said I have all their mummy's mobile numbers, so they will come. Roll on the end of term, he is so tired and can't get things into perspective.

Blondes you have inspired me to have pesto & pasta for my dinner too!

DH & DD are having fish fingers

Been super super good today! Hoping I can make it til bed time being this good!

prettybird · 21/07/2010 18:58

Well, I won't be being good today. I deserve some comfort food.

Today I had to go across to my parents' place to begin the process of helping my dad pack up my mum's stuff so she can move into a home tomorrow . It's an emergency placement, as my mum (who only recently turned 70) broke her arm last week (they think - it's complicated, as there are a lot of old injuries on that arm) and dad has had to come to the difficult decision that he can no longer cope.

She has a rare form of fronto temporla dementia probably triggered by the head injury she sustained 3 and a hlaf years ago.

My brother and I went across this afternoon to look at the home she will be going into and my mood was not helped by having a massive argument with him on the way back - about a totally unrelated matter and probably made worse by the fact that a) we were both already stressed and b) he is a 48 year old adolescent prat.

So not feeling good

Dh has gone out to buy some Lidl curry and we'll open a bottle of Cava.

Then tomorrow I'll go back across and help dad do the final packing.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/07/2010 19:43

Hello everyone

prettybird - for your Mum and Dad and at your brother. Families can be such hard work!
Well done on being so good on holiday

GT - poor DS, he will be so much better for a rest over the holidays.
I'm not shredding so far this week, we have been down at my parents for a couple of days, but I'm hoping to fit it in tomorrow and Friday before we have family here for the weekend for DS' birthday.

bebe well done on being good. I wouldn't think you needed to do party bags, only if you are really inspired to!

Piste - congrats on the loss!

I have not been good, I knew this week was going to be hard though. Yesterday my Mum cooked a huge piece of roast beef and I think I ate my own (considerable) bodyweight in yorkshire puddings . Today we were out to lunch at Pizza Express with DS' godmother - partly for DS' birthday which is on Friday and partly because she has just got engaged! So we had prosecco, but I did have a pizza with a hole in it and I didn't finish my tiramisu so it could have been worse.
Going to try very hard to have a couple of good days now before the weekend and more celebrating, starting with not having any dinner tonight just some fruit.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2010 20:14

pretty, thats really and hope home looks after your mum - is it near you/your dad?

im now sucking refreshers 2p per back and a whole tube can last me 30+mins

laughalot · 21/07/2010 21:57

Hi folks I am here give me a few days to give myself a big kick up the bum to get back on track im going up the weight scale not down .

Ill be back soon and hopefully in better spirits.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2010 22:09

Laughalot. You will get there just as we all will xx

'kicks butt gently with fur lined slippers'

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/07/2010 22:56

Pretty - we had to do what you are doing and I can really appreciate the raft of emotions you are going through. The big decision to move your mum is possibly the hardest bit combined with the actual physical move, but then life returns with a different but definite pattern. It is terribly sad for sure. My mum had parkinsons and so got very frail.

Hope the curry and cava took the edge of your prattish bro. My bro is the same age and is an arse from time to time. I think when our mum was so unwell and we were having to make big decisions we simply didn't feel old enough, it was like we were little again, and we craved having an adult making decisions for us!

bebejones · 22/07/2010 08:31

Pretty - for you, dementia is so cruel. Hope you and your brother can work things out, must be so difficult for all of you.

Blondes - haven't had refreshers in ^years!! YUM!

I'm off to the doctors this morning for my sore throat. Have had a tonne of mouth ulcers come up now too & feel quite run down. Very , I take multivits & iron & an assortment of other stuff every day so not quite sure why I'm feeling like this!

Managed to stay super good yesterday, fingers crossed for another good day. The only downside of this good behaviour is that the amount of water I'm drinking means I can't remember the last night I didn't have to get up & pee in the middle of the night!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/07/2010 09:06

pretty - I'll be thinking of you today. I know when we eventually moved my Grandma it was so so hard for my Mum, and she and my Uncle rowed a lot, largely because he kept his distance even though he was retired and Mum was working full time.
As Piste said though, soon you will all settle down into a new routine and that will be your normality and it won't feel so raw and difficult.

bebe - hope you are ok, do the steriods deplete your system at all? Hope the GP has some answers.

I got a faint BFP this morning . I am still determined to watch my weight though, but I'm thinking that The Shred is out? What exercise can I do?

bebejones · 22/07/2010 10:49

Yay AliB!!!! Congratulations!!!! Swimming might be a good exercise for you, not sure what guidelines are for exercise in PG though, but swimming is low impact.

GP thinks that the acid reflux caused by the steroids has possibly irritated my throat/mouth so prescribed me some anti-inflammatory mouthwash. I have to clean my teeth after I've eaten anything as well how practical! Fingers crossed it helps. He also said I should stick to soft/liquidy foods that won't irritate it, so back to the soup then!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/07/2010 12:28

Thanks bebe

Swimming is a bit of a PITA because I don't have any childcare for DS, so that means doing evenings when DH is at home which I'm not keen on. I am going to stop shredding, but I think continue with EA Active Fit on my Wii which is lower impact, and start doing some pilates as well. Once I've told my parents I can talk to them about it (they are Drs), but I am seeing them face-to-face on Saturday so really want to wait until then!

Really hope that mouthwash helps, what a nightmare you're having atm!

bebejones · 22/07/2010 13:21

AliB - what about something like this I think Davina has a pregnancy exercise DVD too, and I like her DVD that I have, might be worth a go if you can't find anyone to have your DS. I take DD swimming sometimes & although it's not proper swimming I think there must be some benefit to the bobbing & jumping & throwing her about I do!

Mouthwash makes my tongue go numb and tingly not sure I like that!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2010 14:25

Ali congrats!!! Exercise is good when pregnant. Paula ratcliff ran 10k mararthon the other day and is 7mts

bebe sorry you are suffereing at the moment. You sound run down

refreshers were yummy and I kept burping. Must have been all the bicarbonate

Still being very good so hoping that I have lost tomorrow. The last few days of goodness must had counterbalanced the badness of saturdy and Monday

working today buy will get to the gym and will sweat for england

dh rang today and asked if I wanted his special sausage

watch this space

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/07/2010 14:41

Blondes - does that mean TTC or just shagging?

Paula Radcliffe is amazing, I don't think I am up to 10k speed! Very keen to keep doing something though, I am much fitter than when I got pg before although I'm about half a stone heavier. I need to put on as little as possible.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2010 14:48

Haha. Neither

mr blondes just likes to create sausage dishes

sausage pie
sausage casserole
sausage suprise

etc etc

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/07/2010 15:07

Bebe thanks for that link, I've just had a look at a few of those pregnancy workout DVDs and they look quite good.
