Hi all, thank you all for your very much needed support. I have been doing very well and done another walk today with the kids and dogs, i think i lost a few pounds running away from a wasp lol [ i have a wasp phobia ].
I just thought i would let people know something that has helped me lose weight over the last few months. I am not a great lover of salad on its so i buy some wraps and fill them with salad, chicken, tuna or anything you fancy and they are very filling. You can buy wraps made with garlic as well and they are really nice. Also sugar free jelly and fruit is a nice snack in the evening if you are feeling peckish.
I'm doing any particular plan, just healthy eating and exercise which seems to working quite well for me and i still manage to indulge in a bit of cake or ice cream now and then. I think i would go insane if i didn't have a treat.

Murtette · 05/08/2010 22:21

Gettin - I signed up for the GSR, started doing the training, thought it was odd that my boobs hurt so much each time I ran but just got a more supportive sports bra only to find out I was pregnant...DD's due date was 6 days or something before the actual race!

Poohbearsmom · 05/08/2010 22:28

Oh daisy your absolutly right there's no way we could go through life without the odd treat! We just need to counteract it with healthy stuff for the rest of the time... That was my problem before though i was having the treats all the time every day/after every meal etc but your right eating healthy and moving thats what we have to do it beat it! Have to have a look out for garlic wraps i love a big salad filled wrap lot of peppers and a splash of spice jazz's it up nicely too would love some cheese in it too but know its a killer for me and def need to stear away from it except the odd time, but im mad for garlic so would love to fine them ones. Id love sugar free jelly too but cannot for love nor money find a vegetarian one grr

Bebe your so kind its really lovely of you to throw such a nice party for everyone i really hope its a fantastic day and your gona be so proud when you see the pic's this year and we'r all so proud of you!

Pretty i hope ye have a fab time in Iceland ye should drop into see Sportacus! My boys are crazy about Sportacus and all things lazytown and its all done there, did i tell ye when Magnus thingy (creator of and star of etc etc) when he was here for his webchat on mn he actually answered my question

Poohbearsmom · 05/08/2010 22:35

Lol Murtette i thought you were newly pg and i got all excited!! i couldnt really do running cause my knees are too bad but mayb the more weight i loose they will improve... For now iv still to dust off the ol dvd... Iv given ds1 the task of annoying me till i do! I told him once i do it loads and loads il be able to go up and down the soft play right to the top like aunty cause she's so fit and il be slinkie like that too if i do my dvd... Ya right... But he's drivin me mad most days so it will eventually break through and i will get back at it

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/08/2010 08:56

PBM - I really don't know what I will do if the dress looks wrong. What I need to do is get her to try it on and then I'll know whether I need to worry or not! I'm also not sure what to wear really, I'm not used to buying stuff for my new shape. I would love someone (obviously Gok if he's free!) to advise me.

For preschool just get some long sleeve t shirts and jeans that are easy to get on and off. Then he can still look great but you wont worry about how hard the clothes get worn. With the best will in the world their clothes get trashed and I would have worried if they didn't as it shows theyve had a great time DS got paint on his shirt once in year 6 and I was so excited because it meant they'd actually done painting!!

GettinTrimmer · 06/08/2010 09:25

Hi all

bebe my dc have never been away from us overnight, they are 5 and 8 now!!

My mum and dad are too elderly, and others are reluctant to return favours (this rankles a bit) as their dc have grown up and their lives have moved on from little ones. Too exhausting and too much trouble. I had my ds at 39 a good decade after most friends/family.

We will get a childfree weekend away one day.

Anyway, enough moaning! They are growing up very quickly....

daisy Couldn't agree more about the odd bit of cake and ice cream here and there. I agree too healthy eating and exercise is the way to go. Have you looked at foodfocus? It charts your progress and counts calories, but sounds like you are doing fantastically anyway.

murtette I did the GSR in 2003, still have the t-shirt! My training starts today when mum and dad are able to come and babysit.

PBM I do like my dvds, very convenient way to exercise I'd say!

Good luck with all your health check ups, I was wondering about your fistula difficulty, it will get sorted I'm sure. So your sister has been diagnosed with a genetical hip thing?

Hope all's better with dh today, mine got right up my nose, he was sick in the tent Grin when we were away, then snored like a pig while we were away and complained when I was tired and grumpy. I wonder why Hmm

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 06/08/2010 09:28

Blush there have been the odd occasions when the dc have gone to school in un-ironed t-shirts

piste as you are tall and elegant, how about a maxi dress with spaghetti straps?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/08/2010 09:47

Absolute LOL at tall and elegant. Thanks GT- you can be my new best friend!!

I will try a maxi dress, but do you thing I'm too old to try to be so trendy (sssh 45)

DS will be the real problem because all he'll want to wear is his abercrombie hoody, long shorts and vans. Not really the thing

bebejones · 06/08/2010 11:54

Someone slap some sense into me...am stressing about DDs party! Bloody muffins in the Tesco order will be out of date by Sunday, but didn't realise until after the driver had gone! And forgot stuff and had irritating substitutions Angry Now got more rushing and running around to do! Plus had a sneaky weigh before the weekend of naughtiness & apparently have gained 2lbs Hmm HOW?!?! I've been positively angelic (apart from the pancakes, but I did make them with skimmed milk & didn't have butter & fried them in fry light) so am sulking about that too!

Daisy - I would go mental without treats! I make cake alot & it would be unfair to expect DH to eat it all by himself. I just make sure I have very small portions instead of the 3 slabs I used to have!

Piste - I'm sure you can 'get away with' a Maxi dress. They are so versatile & you can accessorise it to suit you!

PBM - poor you with more health worries :( Hope everything gets sorted out asap

Very impressed with all you runners, would never be able to do that, just don't have the time or self discipline! Blush

daisytaylor · 06/08/2010 12:44

Hi all, how are we all doing today?
I can't get over how focussed i am with my diet, I have been big from about the age of 8 and battled with it for years. I have done so many diets i think i have lost count but this time seems to be different. I think maybe cos its not a diet more a lifestyle change plus the fear of the pain if i eat too much or greasy foods. Plus i want to get off the tablets and ttc again one day. The best part is my clothes getting looser, i have gone from and 28 to 30 down to a 24. Even need to get measure for a new bra [ sorry if tmi ] I was a G cup but my bra's are def too big now. I love that i can buy clothes from more places now.

Poohbear you can buy the garlic wraps from aldi, the garlic isn't very strong but they are really nice. You could sprinkle a little garlic powder on your salad.

Gettintrimmer i haven't heard of foodfocus, where can i find that? It would be great to do something like that and see what i am eating calorie wise.

bebejones i know what you mean, i am a real lover of chocolate cake. Only make enough to have one serving so then you won't be tempted lol.

Poohbearsmom · 06/08/2010 14:00

Trimmer My jaw is still dropped, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO IRON T-SHIRTS?!? What!? No one told me Blush your right Piste i want him to look nice but he doesnt do the button on his jeans yet just pulls it up and has ruffled up shorts stickin up at the top then! Hopefully the staff will fix him if he looks too much like an american rapper Grin

oh piste im all excited now we can be your online shopping buddies! Link any thing ya fancy and we'l pull it apart critically analyse it Grin
Bebe stop stressin! Stick the muffins in the freezer today and take them out tomorrow night or sunday morning and warm them in the microwave and serve warm with ice-cream? Mmmmmmm dont worry bout that 2lbs its fall off ya no bother, be strict today and tomorrow have a care free day sunday then back on it monday!

Daisy its fantastic the loss youv had so far! Dont worry bout tmi we talk everything Grin we'v had more chats bout bra's then bread around here Grin

Mrs Blondes where are you with your report of a loss??

Im not really stressed bout the health stuff, been through it too much this year and just fed up but not worried if that makes sence? Altho i am worried bout my sister even though we dont get on but she's still my sister iykwim... Anyways its My older sister, she will be 34 this yr is very fit and sporty but has suffered for years with her knee. She's a big yoga fan and has done it religiously for years and was big into rock climbing, hill walking etc but the pain has really stopped her and she's been to hundreds of doctors over the years and had so much physio etc etc but one day she went to her doctor app but the doc had to cancel when she arrived but she was really bad and so walked down the road to another practice which happened to be a sports clinic and the doctor said im gona do a hip xray of you before going any further and she was like there's nothing wrong with my hip tis my knee are you stupid? And was all i dont want it but did anyways and it showed up something so she was booked straight for a mri which showed the hip displaceia (which is genetic) and its so very serious, she will need hip replacement ops every 10yrs for her whole life! But because she's so young they are going to do a different op first, they are going to file down her hip bone and put in pins, its very serious and she's going to be off work months recovering. She lives in oz and she didnt have insurance so it would cost $12000 to have it done asap but she just didnt have it so she took up insurance and has to wait till next summer till they will cover half the cost, the doctor said it was up to her if she could live with the pain. Its a crap situation and a big shock esp cause she's so young altho the doctor said ppl are usually diagnosed either as babies or in their 20's (i can understand as babies if it was bad they'd find it but dont know why 20's?) My first cousin's child has it and had to wear cast's as a baby but is fine now. My little sister is booked to be screened and now i will too. Doctor said its much more likely in girls but my brothers will be checked too. We'v Artritris (sorry have no idea how to spell!) in our family so i put my knees down to that but even my younger sister's knees sound awful like mine and she's a healthy weight and fit... Anyways my poor older sister has it and we'r still shocked about it and i hope none of the rest of us do too, altho its very unfair she has to suffer it but ya know what i mean?

Back on subject had scrummy tomato and vegy pasta for lunch but add too much so putting it down as two portions... Need to stay strict the rest of the day to make up for it!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/08/2010 14:49

Oi Bebe, over here...!

SLAP

That should sort you out girl!!

You are having a party for your tiny DD, your family, your friends. It's not a wedding! It will be lovely, the food is so well thought out, and everyone is always so helpful. Your DD will love it!!

bebejones · 06/08/2010 15:04

Thanks Piste - needed that! :o

PBM - unfortunately I think the muffins must have been previously frozen as they say DO NOT FREEZE in big bold letters! Hmm
Your poop sis, sounds scary. Fingers crossed things are ok for you!

bebejones · 06/08/2010 15:05

Daisy - foodfocus :o

bebejones · 06/08/2010 15:06

PBM - poor sis not poop sis, sorry! Blush Havin one of 'those' days!

GettinTrimmer · 06/08/2010 16:18

Oh dear....I have just stuffed my face with oatcakes and biscuits Blush Blush

Went running, it is raining here so got soaked, and felt light-headed when I got in, due to low blood sugar. didn't even run the whole way (2.3 miles) walked some of it. I could run that route a few weeks ago but with the reduced amount of exercise need to build up pretty quickly again.

daisy do have a look at foodfocus, it's brill.

bebe what day is the party? How many children are coming? I actually think it's easier at that age, lots of singing and pass the parcel.

PBM All the best to your sis, sorry to hear about it all Sad. We have arthritis in our family, my sis had childhood arthritis, grew out of it in her twenties but still suffers now and again. It could flare up and was quite severe at times.

I am going to request an official week off with the weigh-in, due to the increased exercise I have landed myself with, and weigh next week after going running about x5. Or should I weigh-in and know the worst? Grin

OP posts:
Poohbearsmom · 06/08/2010 16:36

Request being processed another slinkie shall be along shortly with the verdict Grin

GettinTrimmer · 07/08/2010 08:51

Hi all

I decided to weigh in today, didn't feel like it and didn't want to, but glad I did Smile.

I have two weeks to go till holiday and to get rid of the gain.

Have gained 1lb, not as bad as I thought after wedding and a trip to London.

blondes you would have burnt masses of calories helping your dh! Hope you are managing to chill a little after your hectic schedule.

I wouldn't wear a maxi dress with spaghetti straps, but if tall it would look lovely. piste link us what you find! Try John Lewis? they have an amazing seletion.

bebe PBM those muffins sound scrummy! I od'd on the bisuits yesterday...

ali not seen you for a little while. All OK?

jodie you weigh in today as well don't you??

pretty how's things?

daisy how are you finding foodfocus? I am going back to it today but increasing calories to 1700 to take the exercise into account. The good thing is that it counts your net calories after taking any exercise into account.
