GettinTrimmer · 25/07/2010 12:35

Afternoon all

laughalot Congrat on your results good luck with the job hunting. Let us know when you get interviews. I've had no luck so far, but in September I am hunting in earnest for something suitable.

Well done on your 1lb.

bebe Hope the BBQ has gone down.

I am trying a new direction today, eating x5 per day, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, evening meal then snack in the evening. That way it doesn't seem too hard. And of course the exercise, not done very much at all last week.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2010 22:18

good luck with weigh in everyone tomorrow

ive felt crap all day and tried to eat and was sick not once but 3 times - so surely a day of not eating and therefore gaining 20points should work in my favour next friday

bebejones · 26/07/2010 09:24

Just popping in to update list. Have lost 1lb which considering all the crap I ate on Friday & Saturday is pretty good going!

Will be back later to catch up!

Morning all

bebe well done on your 1lb

blondes I do sympathise!!

I had x3 gins and orange when ds was stressy and felt it the next day. How much did you drink? I've not had hangovers like that in a long time, but as you say, being ill will show on the scales BTW, if you've been in touch with PBM, send her my regards. Tell her we are still thinking of her.

All chilled in my household, dc are playing upstairs, I've been clearing up, we are going into town later on. Just gobsmacked by how much ds is growing up, he now says he's grown out of play areas

His birthday is wednesday, he's chosen one of my/Nigella's scrumptious chocolate cheesecakes, mum, dad and bro round for lunch then his laser party is at 7pm.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/07/2010 10:20

Morning

well done bebe!

Blondes, hope you're feeling more human today, I'm sure the no eating will help the scales

GT - at DS being too big for play areas, bless him.

Have not done too badly over the weekend, didn't have seconds of either birthday cake or cheese and biscuits, and only had 2 v.small glasses of champagne.

Must do some exercise this week, hardly did anything last week.

prettybird · 26/07/2010 13:25

Despite comfort eating and feeling miseralbe, I have still managed to lose weight: 12st, 12 lb this morning

My mum is now in the home but not settled. She is very clear about the fact that she doesn't like the place and wants to go home. This has confused the care home staff, as they are used to people who have very little short term memory. However, mum has a rare form of dementia that means that she still has both er short and long term memory - she has just lost her personality I described it to someone as being as if she had lost her "soul"

However, yesterday when I visited with ds, she was much "better", very lucid, and smiling properly (particularly at ds) (she has a beautiful smile) and actually having a conversation (about how she didn't like the place).

Very distressing

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/07/2010 13:46

Prettybird well done on the weight loss

for you and your Mum though. Have the home got some strategies to help her get settled in?

We had exactly the same problem with my Grandma, in fact she was insistent for some months that the home was only temporary until she was 'better' as it was a fall (one of many) that finally made us move her.
She knew she needed to be there really, and she came to realise that eventually and stopped talking about it but we only sold her home when she died. But she would always go on about how she didn't need to be there really, 'not like her' and point at another random resident

I really feel for you, it is a tough time but it will get better and settle down. Interesting that she did better with DS than with you, Grandma always tried harder for me than she did for my Mum.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2010 14:47

well done bebe

well done pretty bird and sorry things arent great with your mum, but hopefully time will make it better

i feel better today, but felt soooooooooooooo ill yesterday but my own fault, so sure the points i drank will be counterbalanced by the lack of food yesterday lol

prettybird · 26/07/2010 16:08

Not sure what the home can do. Mum is not (and never was) one for forced socialising (and TBH, as a family, none of us are) so being "encouraged" to socialise with the other residents (average age, 85) when my mum is (or rather was) a "young" 70 won't help her. 3 and a half years ago she was cycling in India! And even in April, she was still able to knit me a scarf with a complicated cable pattern. Now she doesn't want to do anything.

I suppose it is just time - and further deterioration - that will "settle" her. Her GP says she has never seen a deterioration as fast - but that is characeterstic of this particular type of dementia.

I kow my dad made the right decision but it is breaking his heart.

ANyway, onto cheerier matters: Blondes - glad you are feeling better. Ali - congratulations on your news. I did Pilates until about 7 months when I was pregnant with ds and I am sure it helped. Bebejones - at the "falling down" jeans.

Hi Jodie 11lbs in 7 weeks sounds very do-able

I've had a good day today. Couscous and chicken for lunch, and then more couscous with sausages and salad for dinner. Only fruit for snacks and I've resisted the crisps and all the cheese left over from the weekend.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2010 20:02

sausages eh jodie

i have just played tennis with daddy blondes for an hour - worked up a sweat

mr blondes has cooked and got fish and salad - not a sign of a sausage

GettinTrimmer · 27/07/2010 15:32

Afternoon all

jodie welcome back!

prettybird well done on the weight loss especially at this difficult time.

blondes doing well with the exercise. I am not doing brilliantly, did Davina aerobics yesterday, interrupted by the dc and the phone rang. Can't face it today it is so humid.

bebe Congrats on your 1lb loss.

I've just had bbq food, (not great), dh's work does a fun day every year for charity with daleks and bouncy castle, etc.

And naughty me, I had quite a few chocolate biccys this morning left over from Christmas (my mum brought them round) Again I hope to sts. The way things are going I may try and maintain till September and then try to get another stone off with renewed vigour.

OP posts:
bebejones · 27/07/2010 17:22

Pretty - there are no words that seem good enough as comfort right now so have a instead. Well done on your 1lb loss

Welcome back Jodie

Having a rough few days, lots of crap going on. Have polished off the last of the cake today and not really eaten much else . Have made a veggie lasagne for dinner, and will try harder tomorrow...promise! Must try not to let things drag me back to my old ways!

Have walked to Tesco & back with DD & also met a friend at cafe this morning so did some walking then. My legs still arent 100% after the relapse so doing anything too vigourous means I really feel it the next day & my knees are particularly painful. Still can't find my Davina dvd either & of course DD is too little to be able to tell me where she put it!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/07/2010 19:04

Hi everyone Well done everyone who is managing to exercise, I've been v.bad the last few days.

I was doing ok with food today and then ate a load of chocolate this afternoon. I didn't even want it and felt rough afterwards. Have just had chicken and veg for dinner and now I just want to sleep.

Have got a couple of PG exercise DVDs arriving tomorrow - bebe one is that one you linked to a few posts ago - it's got really good reviews on Amazon as actually being good exercise rather than just a bit of stretching and breathing. Hoping it will re-motivate me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/07/2010 19:16

sorry you are having a crap time at the moment bebe - hope it passes

ive told pmb to come back soon -we are missing her

trimmer - choccy biscuits sound yummy

i started off very good today with marmite toast and then pasta for lunch but then went to a 2nd birthday party and ended up eating cake and shortbread

got chicken and rice for tea - but have gone over my points

at a picnic tomorrow - weather permitiing and know i will prob end up going over points as well

Murtette · 27/07/2010 20:28

Dashing in...2lbs on whilst I was away but it could have been worse...will come back later and post properly.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/07/2010 21:29

murette - hope you had a nice hol - 2lbs will soon come off
