i'm horrified to find I have put on 1 stone 7 lb in the last year.

horrified.

So, back to Weight Watchers I go.

I weigh in at 13 stone 8 (horror) and am taking it one day at a time with 21 pooints a day.

Mushrooms cooked in frylight are my life saver.

white fish is great for dinner as very low in points. I have a nice recipe from my Rosemary Conley days. You take fillets of white fish and lay each one on some greaseproof paper. Skin, deseed and chop a cucumber, mix with about a teaspoon of allspice and some salt and pepper, sprinkle on the fish, wrap up in the greaseproof paper and steam from about 10-15 min depending on the size of the fish fillet. It's lovely!
The fish is only one point for a medium fillet and you can eat with loads of no-point veg and a bit of potato if you want.

I lost a pound. I am so happy. I ate almost double my points allowance on Sunday (wedding anniversary) but thankfully I had saved for it.

MegGriffin · 18/08/2010 19:10

SGM I usually have half fat heinz salad cream or sweet chilli sauce to keep it interesting. I try not to add too much and I find that the vinegar from the gherkins/pickled onions helps with flavour. We will all be skinny minnies by christmas (sort of)

chipmonkey · 19/08/2010 00:40

Well done Diaduit! I love it when you have a high point day and still lose weight, makes it seem all the more do-able. Or do I mean feasible which sounds like much better English but less like what I want to say!Grin

Can I come in!??

I've been reading this thread and I'm impressed with how long you've been at this. I only started 5 days ago and I'm going out for dinner tonight which I'm looking forward to but I want to choose wisely.

I am 'like' AlCrowley, five 1" ish and my goal is the mid point for my height - 8 stone 8. However it is a long time since I've seen that weight, and in fact even the summer I got pregnant with my first child I was 8 stone 10.

My baby is four and when I weighed myself the other day I realised I was 9 stone 6. not absolutely enormous but I had NOT realised I had begun to get Eff ay Tee. I honestly hadn't realised. I measured my waist and it was a scary 33".

I haven't officially joined, but I did it years ago (when I wasn't even overweight!) and I remember lots of it and I've googled and refreshed my memory.

I haven't weighed myself but I have a feeling I've lost a pound or two already as my body is used to lots of toast at two hourly intervals, as well as meals of course!

chipmonkey · 19/08/2010 20:25

Welcome Valium! Must say I find eating out difficult as my usual choices are creamy, fatty sauces with everything. But I did quite well the last time I was out. One thing I have vowed to do the next time I eat out is to eat an apple in the car before I go out. When doing WW I am usually starving by the time I get to the restaurant and end up eating a lot of bread and butter before I get my starter. Think it might be worth having the half-point apple rather than the 3 point bread!

Diaduitpuisin · 19/08/2010 23:42

I understand chipmonkey, I had General Tso's Chicken for dinner out on Sunday. That's 15 points without a side. Shock

ValiumSingleton · 20/08/2010 09:04

Thanks chip! love chips

I've never been so hungry as I was yesterday. I'd had porridge for breakfast, healthy salads with chick peas, olives, bit of low fat hummous and ten pasta tubes for lunch, and then salmon and veg for dinner.. I worked out all the points iwth a calculator.

BUT my body is USED to a heck of a lot of carbs. I was trying not to eat my own hand all afternoon yesterday. But I did it. Grin I think some nights I might have to go to bed to be further away from the kitchen. til my body readjusts to this dramatic drop in food intake!!

chipmonkey · 20/08/2010 09:55

I find I am very hungry for the first day or so, then I adjust.
Now have to remind dh not to bring me back a kebab after he goes out for a drink tonight. That man can be the undoing of me!

ValiumSingleton · 20/08/2010 13:01

Good luck resisting the kebab!

I'm hoping that I'll adjust... right now my body is going into some kind of bread and potato withdrawal.

I just had a big salad with celery, rocket and red pepper AND two eggs, 10 pasta twirls, half a can of kidney beans and I'm still starving. I'm going to have a bowl of porridge with low fat unsweetened soya milk now.

This is hard. Day 5. I was all oooooh NEW ME for the first few days.

chipmonkey · 20/08/2010 15:26

I think general advice is to wait 20 minutes after a meal and then see if you're still hungry because it can take that long for your body to register that you have eaten.

Your stomach does shrink after a while as well, so you feel more full.

I will be very cross with him if he brings the kebab home as he knows I find them hard to resist. Trouble is BIL, who he goes drinking with, likes to "treat" everyone to fast food and gets a bit miffed if it's refused. Dh took the kebab from him last week but left it in the car overnight rather than face my wrath!Grin

Could never really do low-carb. I really don't like cutting out whole food groups. When I do, I just craaaaaaaaaave that food group. Led me to eating mayo straight out the jar once on Rosemary Conley's low fat diet. Which is why I do WW now!Grin

I find I can't get WW bread or low fat milk here as everyone disregards the labels but me and gives the diet food to the baby!Hmm

OK have lost 2lb this week, despite v. bad points day last Sunday!

ValiumSingleton · 21/08/2010 10:46

Are tomatoes in a can still free!? If you work out the point value it comes out at about 1.5.

According to the label there is 47 cals in a half can and .4 saturated fat! in a can of tomatoes?! the ingredients just say tomatoes.

so......... free!? or not free.

Please advise Confused

ValiumSingleton · 21/08/2010 10:48
