i'm horrified to find I have put on 1 stone 7 lb in the last year.

horrified.

So, back to Weight Watchers I go.

I weigh in at 13 stone 8 (horror) and am taking it one day at a time with 21 pooints a day.

Mushrooms cooked in frylight are my life saver.

I'm joining (again...) on Thursday so I'll see you then!

You're horrified at your gain - I'm ashamed to even admit to mine

I lost 7 stone on WW back in 2003, and now it's allll back. No one to blame but myself - need to be in it for the long term this time around I think.

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 22/06/2010 08:16

I'll join. I signed up to online on Sun night, made it through yesterday ok. Am BF-ing a new baby so I'm on 32 points (yeah I know, loads - I am also 14 stone 8lbs) which should be easy but I'm almost worried it's too many, you know? My body seems to 'hoard' fat when feeding, so am a bit scared it won't come off.

However. Positive thoughts!

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 22/06/2010 08:20

What are you thinking of as long term goals? I reckon around 11 stone will be mine. Not setting it as that now though, just doing the five per cent first, which should take me down to around the weight I was when I started WW the last time (before last pregnancy).

dottyaboutstripes · 22/06/2010 10:00

Hi ladies. Good luck. 10 years ago I weighed 13st5lbs....then I joined WW and lost the weight. I've had 3 babies since then and today I weigh 9st 4lbs, so it can def be done!

vuvu , yes, eat your 32 points. I've done WW 3 times now when bf, each time I've been approx 11 and a half stone starting off and I've had 28/30 points and it works, even though it feels like SO many points to be eating. Make the most of it while you can is what I say.

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 22/06/2010 13:56

Thanks dotty. colditz, I've ordered mushrooms and Fry Light in the Tesco order after reading your post .

Our fruit budget is going to go through the roof this summer; I always weaken for M&S cherries and will probably justify them more often now because they're low on points. But I guess I won't be spending money on frappucinos and the like, so it should even out.

shinyblackgrape · 22/06/2010 14:03

I would like to join! I am doing WW at the moment. Am on 21 points and want to lose three stones by Christmas. Not sure if this is going to be possible though.

I was really pleased to read Dotty's post as I feel that I am eating a LOT on 21 points. Also, have only been doing this for two weeks and have only lost 2lbs so bit worried about this.

I am wondering whether WW will be right for me or whether I will need to go low-carb again. I really don't want to do that though as don't feel that is sustainable long term

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 22/06/2010 14:11

Stay with us, Shiny If it's any help, when I went on WW before this pregnancy I had hardly any loss the first week, then went on to lose a stone over the following six or seven weeks. It should pretty much always kick in and work just based on the maths, as long as your points calculation is really accurate.

I've done low-carb in the past too (years ago) and although I did get very slim, like you I'm reluctant to return to it. I find it gets sort of depressing after a while because it just doesn't feel like a well-rounded existence IYSWIM.

shinyblackgrape · 22/06/2010 17:19

Thanks VP. I am hoping! Am going to try and have two good further weeks and then review.

I agree with you re low-carb. It is fantastic for losing weight but just not sustainable for me on an ongoing basis.

Squidmission · 23/06/2010 11:17

I've just joined ww this morning!
I've done it before but need to read through all the literature again. I'm going to follow that 18points 1st week kick start thing and I'm also doing the 30 day shred exercise dvd.

I want to lose a stone and a half.

Oh, and I've tried low carb before and I just couldn't go back to it. However I'm happy to have a 'carb curfew' and eat no carbs after 4pm. That works well for me as it stops all the late afternoon and evening munching!

catinboots · 23/06/2010 20:02

Can I join in?? I've just started weight watchers. Am BFing 14wk old DS2 and weighing in at 12st 3lb. Need to lose 3 stones eventually!! Have 30 points a day but just seems so many.

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 23/06/2010 21:13

Those extra BFing points do still vaguely trouble me, despite reassurance from dottyaboutstripes above. I kind of imagine that I will become accustomed to them, and will struggle to adjust back to a normal points level as I lose weight - or if I stop BFing while still on WW. Imagine dropping ten points off the daily budget! I guess you'd have to try and gradually cut the total down rather than do it all at once. Nightmare though.

catinboots, hey there, and may I come out and say I was one of the people who very wrongly got arsey with you (not as arsey as some others, but still) on a thread not so long ago. But I did apologize on that thread and meant it, so I hope you can forgive me. Also hope things are improving as regards that situation.

catinboots · 23/06/2010 21:59

VuVu - thankyou. It actually means alot when people apologize!!

Things quietened right down with the nutter but the police are still being totally useless. Insurance company made good first offer on the car today so not all bad!

With regards to WW - I just can't see myself losing much weight eating that many points? Has anyone had success with WW when BFing? Is it just a slower process??

AlCrowley · 23/06/2010 22:22

Can I join too?

Got to my 5% target in 4 weeks so they've reduced my points and as DD has started weaning now, they're going to come down again soon and it's going to get tough.

On 27 points at the moment and looking to lose as much of a stone as I can manage in the next 5 weeks before I go on holiday. Would love to be bang in the middle of my 'healthy weight range' by DD's first birthday at christmas.

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 23/06/2010 22:35

Gosh well done for shedding 5% in 4 weeks Al. I'd be delighted with that.

Bit of a bummer that your "reward" is even less food though. But then again, "nothing tastes as good as..." etc {I hate that saying)

Sorry, that sounds v negative, what I should say (and actually do think) is that it probably won't be as bad as we're thinking. Apart from anything else, as the weeks go by you sort of get the hang of it more, and work out ways to make the points stretch a bit further, so that should help I suppose. Right?

AlCrowley · 23/06/2010 22:48

I think it just shows how much I was overeating while bfing Vuvu

I too am a fat storer while I feed and it makes me so hungry!! Seems to have leveled out now we're past 6 months though which is a relief.

I'm also running about 15k a week which is helping a lot.

No more babies for me, DD was my last, so really no excuse for not getting the mummy tummy shifted now.

colditz · 23/06/2010 23:58

Sorry dears, I was at work (I do 24 hour shifts)

I'm due to weigh myself on Saturday, but don't actually get my official weight watcher's meeting weigh in until next tuesday.

other handy low fat tips include - extra low fat soft cheese (Phiadelphia type stuff) - it comes in different flavours and replaces both butter and mayonaise quite nicely in sandwiches.

just don't bother with cheese or mayonaise unless they are ultra low fat versions - the points value for a decently filled cheese sandwich is horrific.

Lettuce is your friend, it makes everything look bigger, gives your mouth something to do, and the first bite really is with the eye.

My first 'real' goal is 10% bodyweight ie, a stone. Then all the lovely clothes I bought last year will fit me again.

I left my WW book at my sister's house today but I've been good - had a minor slip with some chocolate cake but only ate 18 points out of 21 yesterday so actually, I think I probably stayed within points for today with those added on.

OP posts:
VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 24/06/2010 00:09

15k a week [further impressed]

AlCrowley · 24/06/2010 08:29

Checked this morning and it seems I was fibbing a bit It was 5 weeks not 4 to my 5% target. Got that and my 7lbs milestone on Monday.

So I'm now 66.5kgs (sorry, I work in kgs because my scales do - it's about 10st 6lbs) Have now reset my goal weight to 54kgs (8 and a half stone) which is in the middle of my ideal weight range as I'm only 5'1" tall.

Really motivated at the moment as were off on holiday - with my super skinny SIL - in 5 weeks as of today. Cannot sit next to the pool with her looking like this! Not expecting to lose 2 stone in 5 weeks obviously (hoping to be there by DD's 1st birthday at Christmas) but wondering if I could make close to halfway which would at least put me back in the upper end of my healthy weight range. I did start off losing 1kg/2.2lbs a week which would have got me there but I've slowed down over the past couple of weeks and that goal is looking further and further away

Does anyone know at what point of weaning I should change my status from fully breast fed to weaning? DD has been EBF so far so I was on maximum points. She's now weaning but not yet sleeping through the night so I'm still up once or twice a night to feed her and I'm worried that if I reduce my points too soon, it could affect her feeding even more. She's on 3 meals a day now and eats well - should I do it now or wait do you think?

dottyaboutstripes · 24/06/2010 12:16

You seriously CAN eat all those points and lose weight. I was still eating something like 28 points at 9stone and still losing weight after dc4 when he was a yr old. This time though (dc6 - now 12 months) I lose when on 23 or 24 points.

Al - if you are still losing I think I wouldn't drop points. Or if you decide to do so, only drop maybe 1 for a week, then 1 the next if you feel the need?

AlCrowley · 24/06/2010 22:38

That's a good idea Dotty. I lost about 2lbs last week so I obviously need what I'm eating at the moment. Will see how I do on Mondays weigh in and maybe drop a point if it's slowing

VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 25/06/2010 08:32

Can I ask, do you lot weight yourselves through the week, or do you avoid doing so until weigh in?

AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 08:36

I weighed myself this morning when my weigh in isn't till Monday.

It's usually a bad idea as if I'm doing well I tend to be more naughty over the weekend and have been known to out some back on

Luckily, this mornings weigh in sucks so I should be good for the weekend. Am feeling a little defeated though.

I should really wait

colditz · 25/06/2010 08:44

Only once a week. Because if you're doing well, you're tempted to be naughty, and if you're not, you're tempted to give up and stuff chips, so once a week in front of the WW leader so she can bollock encourage you.

OP posts:
VuvuzelaPlenticlew · 25/06/2010 09:34

Yeah. I thought that was probably the answer.

We bought scales last week, never had them in the flat before -- I used to weigh myself at Boots once a week last time I did WW (I do online so no leader).

Now that they're here, I have been tempted several times to weigh myself but my "official" time to do it is Sunday night, so I'll try to hold off...

loler · 25/06/2010 09:37

Hello everyone (and colditz - was on the WW thread with you couple of years ago - one of the oringinal mushroom lovers).

I lost 3.5 stone and got to my goal last October - I've managed to maintain really well until April - had a pile of family birthdays and a few holidays have now put on about a stone (good going in 8 weeks!) - so my target is getting that off. Doesn't sound much but the last time it too months to get the last 4lbs off!

I've just started running - on week 2 of the couch to 5km programme - first time I've run since school 20ish years ago. So hopefully in another 7 weeks I'll be there with the running 15km a week (although I get back from a run and feel free to stuff my face!)
