glad you are feeling better, jack, was at the beach yesterday so went seriously off piste...

cornsilky · 13/06/2010 09:20

hello losers
think I've hit a plateau now.
Might try that shredding thing that you all do.

BudaisintheZONE · 13/06/2010 09:24

Hi all

Was out for dinner Friday night - not in Zone! Lots of wine and pavlova and chocolate cake. Cue hangover McDonalds for lunch. Then out for dinner again last night.

Jack - that mood seems catching! I had about 3 huge rows here yesterday - DS not doing as he is told or saying no to things. I shout at him. DH hates me shouting so he huffs and puffs and sighs. Had same this morning before they went off to football. DS has new football boots. Bought at Easter in Dublin but not worn yet. He tells us they are too big and hurt. This happens with every pair of shoes we buy. So I shout. DH shouts. I could scream and throw things right now. They have gone off with me telling them both that they drive me mad. I hate it. Feel all knotted up inside. And then DH will sulk all bloody day when they do get back. And it is so friggin' hot here. 35 degrees yesterday. And I may be premenstrual. Have no idea as cycle is all over the place. Grrr. And I want toast. White toast. With butter and marmalade.

Aitch · 13/06/2010 10:09

IT IS THE SODDING WORLD CUP.

apparently some football matches make it okay to profoundly and openly resent all parental responsibility.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 13/06/2010 10:15

Hello losers
I need motivation. I am now 10st12, have been about that for a month. Need to get back in the zone cos I am getting content with being 10st 12 but really need to push on. Goign to Brittany 1st week of Aug and want to be 10st4 or so. Shout at me please.

And well done o those still sticking with it - esp Buda and jack - keep seeing your names on the thread

Aitch · 13/06/2010 10:15

i am in same posish, gherk.

BudaisintheZONE · 13/06/2010 10:27

Hi gherkin - thanks but I feel as if I have jumped out of zone this weekend. Have just had that toast I wanted. Bad.

But.

Tomorrow is another day. I will be so zoney.

So Aitch and gherkin - what can we lose by Friday? I am going for a kilo.

Aitch · 13/06/2010 10:44

ohfgs you eurotrashers. what is a kilo in real money?

Aitch · 13/06/2010 10:44
Wink
gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 13/06/2010 10:57

Kilo about 2and1/2lbs, non? BiffBof.

If I get back to 10st10 by Fri i will be a very cheerful gherkin. 2lbs - manageable? maybe.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 13/06/2010 11:39

Hi all.

Had a night out last night, at a family event.

We all had to make sarnies or whatever to eat buffet style - so I made MIL's potato salad, boiled mashed potatoes, extra light mayo & spring onions all mixed together, a bowl of salad with home grown lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, yellow pepper etc... and a bowl of curried rice with peppers.

Lots of yummy smelling fresh white sandwiches, especially some with chicken & mayo, some with egg n onion...mmm... smelled delicious, but I have to say I didn't succumb!!

There were sausage rolls, vol-au-vonts, chicken bites etc.. and what did I have??? I had a spoonful of my own pot salad and my own salad stuff but had 2 slices of toast when I got home cos I was starvin, but hey, I avoided the vol-au-vonts!!!

Sh is working today & I have a shed load of work to do - have had 4 cups of tea & an apple so far today, will have sirloin & potatoes when dh comes home and -cooks-- it

dinkystinky · 13/06/2010 11:56

Cornie - shred good for losing inches, dont think it will result in you losing much weight by itself. BUT I do think that shocking your body and shaking things up by doing things you dont normally do, eating new things, drinking lots of water etc can help shift you off a plateau.

Jack - glad things picked up. Overtired small kids are just like godzilla arent they... I tend to describe DS2 as Todzilla when he's like that

Aitch, Gherkers - if you're happy with your weight and your figures at the weight you're at now, then brilliant, you've hit goal. If you're not or would still like to lose a few more pounds to get down to 10 6 or 10, then remember that is your goal. Aitch - remember, terrifying wedding in france and sisterzilla's wedding that you need to look fabulous at. Gherkers - bet you've got a summer holiday coming up - are you aiming to wear a bikini/slinky clothing?

And, those on a plateau, I know I'm an exercise fan and most people arent, but if you can find a form of exercise you enjoy and can fit into your busy days it can only be to the good. Not just for weight loss but for overall health reasons and leading kids by example that an active lifestyle is an achievable thing.

Yesterday was bifftastic during day due to sleep deprivation but pulled it back in the evening with a chunky veg soup full of aduki beans, tomato, celery and carrot and veg stock and a couple of glasses of red wine only. Have done morning kickboxing session with PT to do penance.

NomDePlume · 13/06/2010 13:07

dinky, you are so virtuous on the exercise front

I might buy the shred DVD.

Today's food is

  • 2 slices of wm toast with scraping of benecol & lime marmalade
  • cup of tea (splash of semi milk, no sugar)
  • homemade (by DH) chicken curry with chapati
  • LOTS of water

I need to get back to drinking water. I've been a bit crap at keeping up the water intake recently and I'm feeling it.

FYI - 1kg is 2.2lb.

I am very glad DH and DS2 cannot be arsed with football. DS1 is into it but he's 18 so he goes out to the pub to watch it, thank goodness.

cornsilky · 13/06/2010 13:25

thanks dinky
those abs exercises you suggested are great - am not aching anymore
what can I do to shift from my waist in general -love handles!

dinkystinky · 13/06/2010 14:09

Nom - I generally feel better for doing exercise, but only really do exercise that I enjoy doing. There is no way in hell you'd get me onto a netball or tennis court or golf course...

Cornsilky - glad you're enjoying the abs exercises - however sadly, you cant spot reduce love handles alone. Best thing to do is up the cardio to reduce fat percentage in your body and keep up with the abs exercises - side plank and bicycle are good for exercising the side of your abs plus jack-knives (lie on your side, lower arm stretched out in front of you, upper hand behind your head, top leg bent over front of lower leg with foot on floor and knee pointing at the ceiling then crunch up aiming to touch your thigh with your elbow). I think you said you're a member of a gym - look out for pilates or core classes there and go to a couple then you can incorporate moves from them into your work out on your own. And if you do weights, do free weights using a swiss ball rather than machines as makes your stabiliser muscles - including your glutes and abs - work while you do the work outs.

JackBauerDeservedAHappyEnding · 13/06/2010 14:42

I have the best incentive, am seeing my mum in 3 weeks and I want her to at me.
I know she is so proud of me already for getting my arse in gear (I was morbidly obese rememeber) so am pushing it.

DH took a photo of me last night when I was slobbing on sofa in short dress and bare legs. I was shocked when he showed me, my legs look nice!

I am also lucky that DH couldn't give a stuff about football, we watch the moto GP or superbikes at a push but that's about it, thank god. Plus no other bugger cares roudn here so I am escaping all the hysteria.

Ryvita and brie for lunch, bought veggies for soup but have no freezer bags so not sure how best to store it all in the freezer, can I freeze it in tupperware and then wrap in clingfilm when frozen do we think?

NomDePlume · 13/06/2010 14:45

I have a big ball but I never use it. It's currently deflated under DD's bed . Not sure what to do with it really, exercise-wise.

Dinky, I agree that I feel better after exercise and I definitely feel rubbish if I don't do it for a few days but I still have to kick myself up the bum to get on and do it.

NomDePlume · 13/06/2010 14:49

Re - freezing in tupperware and wrapping in film for storage, don't see why not, Jack.

It's nice when you see a real difference isn't it ? I don't 'do' photographs of myself so I haven't seen a change that way, but I've definitely seen the difference in the mirror and it's a real motivator.

dinkystinky · 13/06/2010 15:07

Hurrah for photos showing positive changes Jack - that's brilliant.

Nom - blow up the swiss ball. Its brilliant for all kinds of stuff including stretching out post rowing. If you have a flick through this months zest magazine there is even a little home work out you could do in there using exercise ball (MiL kindly got me a subscription to zest for xmas(. Can post some exercises and stretches on here if you like. And in order to make myself exercise I generally have to book in sessions as otherwise I tend to let it slide - I think you know if you're dedicated (like Jack) or need to make yourself be motivated to exercise (like me).

NomDePlume · 13/06/2010 15:15

thanks dinky.

NomDePlume · 13/06/2010 15:26

lunch again today is 4 sunflower seeds & oats ryvita with a smidge of cottage cheese and a bit of thin nice ham.

Themasterandmargaritas · 13/06/2010 15:33

Rofl at Jack's dc as vuvuzelas, it's like a football match in my car when all three of them start.

I'm having a crap running week, due to a fluey, chesty thing. But have been zoning quite well. I have even finally lost a kilo. I didn't realise it was only 2 bastard lbs though.

Buda you have been SO good recently, treat yourself to a couple of slices of toast, why not. Tomorrow is monday. You can start again.

I bet MamaG has lost loads this weekend, we can call it the iphone diet.

JackBauerDeservedAHappyEnding · 13/06/2010 15:43

Is Zest any good then?
I am considering using clubcard vouchers to get a subscription as my current one is running out, but after the disaster that was Red this year am a bit hesitatn
