Sorry. I think I killed the last one.

I have done 100 sit ups in penance.
Please forgive me.

I am Jack
Jack is fat
But not much longer

Was 17 4

This is all lovely to come back to. Had dinner date with dd2 who is 5. She made enormous bagette, 2 sos and chips disappear. She is tiny. It was amazing. I had promised self a treat and had a doorstop of brie with toasted soda bread prune jam and apple slices. Was perfect. 7 chips. No pudding stuffed to rafters.

Many wise words today but Buda I think you're so right just to concentrate on it a bit of a time. John Bird (the big issue bloke) said in an interview that you can only ever be working on 3% of something at any one time and that you just keep working on the 3% which I find quells anxiety about most things.

dinkystinky · 14/05/2010 20:28

Small children have amazing appetites. When not teething DS2 seems to eat at least his bodyweight in food each day. Your treat sounds delicious Dukes - love stinky cheese. Sadly would be wasted on me in current state.

Day of tile/toilet/door shopping has almost sapped me of my will to live so am sat here with a restorative glass of wine which I cant even taste. Ho hum.

VoulezVouzCrochezAvecJACK · 14/05/2010 20:30

Dukes, like th 3% rule, veyr good.
Our mate is currently humming to himself in the kitchen as he makes our lasagne, which isn't going to be that bad I think, okay, lots of cheddar, but it's low fat creme fraiche..>

Jack - it is definitely worth stepping out of the zone for Jamie's lasagne. Particularly if someone else has cooked it for you.

3% rule is good one to follow. Makes everything seem so much more manageable.

dinkystinky · 14/05/2010 21:33

I see Cyb is off recruiting for the thread but where are the rest of you? Dont tell me... you're all having a group love in in Bobbie's skip?

cyb · 14/05/2010 21:35

I want to hug/slap that lady and say DO IT DO IT

TotalChaos · 14/05/2010 21:35

Hello again ladies. YES, YES YES to all the sensible posts about the zone and motivation and it just being about the food, not the other stuff. if I had waited till the mythical perfect non-stressful life, I would still be biffing.

Took me 2 stone for DH to notice I was thinner , had some positive comments off work people today, including my nurse friend who genuinely couldn't believe I have 3 stone more to lose. Still want to get rid of the frigging double chin, if I could get a lunchtime chinectomy down the dentists.....

dinkystinky · 14/05/2010 21:39

I know Cyb but until she's ready to embrace making a change in her life, she wont do anything. Hope she does come and join us though. The more the merrier - and fatter - slaaaaaaaaaaag gets.

cyb · 14/05/2010 21:42

I know dinky, I know

Actuallement I need to get back on board the SS Zone. Feel a little lardy round the old tum.....

NomDePlume · 14/05/2010 21:44

Pithy ? I like that.

Sorry cyb, dinky, I went off to do some rowing and then went to engage with RL.

Linguine carbonara for dinner (with eggs, pecorino & pancetta but no cream) with 2 glasses of white. Nice. Not had wine for months. My treat, a minute toe out of the zone in the grand scheme of things.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 14/05/2010 21:45

Dinky's right Cyb - you have to want to do it. You know our motto, well one of them, NO EXCUSES.

Excellent Chaos - it's great when people notice- revel in it! Maybe the dentist can sort out my mummy tummy?

BettySuarez · 14/05/2010 21:45

I know that you are talking about me

I'm going to lurk for a bit if thats ok?

NomDePlume · 14/05/2010 21:47

Betty, get ye in the ZONE.

dinkystinky · 14/05/2010 21:47

That's fine Betty - hope it gives you some inspiration to believe in yourself and give the weight loss a go - and give yourself the break you dont think you deserve. If we're too tough love for you, Shiney's crew is really nice and welcoming in a non-shouty way. If you decide to pursue your weightloss, there will be a support club for you somewhere on MN...

TotalChaos · 14/05/2010 21:49

NDP - I won't shout if carbonara was creamless. I am quite relaxed about wine, it is after all low-fat. And I find alcohol in moderate quantities is good for anti-biffing.

duckyfuzz · 14/05/2010 21:52

hello betty, welcome to the zone

dinkystinky · 14/05/2010 21:53

NDP - sounds like a nice post (or pre)-row meal!

NomDePlume · 14/05/2010 21:57

it was post row and was creamless Halo

BettySuarez · 14/05/2010 22:05

thanks duckyfuzz

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 14/05/2010 22:15

Welcome Betty lurk away - or even better join in!

cyb · 14/05/2010 22:48

Hi Betty, it might be good to search all the other threads with the same title as this, this is about the ...8th one? We were all biffers at the start, now we are sashaying around like Beyonce

cornsillkwearsclogs · 14/05/2010 22:50

cyb · 14/05/2010 22:54

cornsillkwearsclogs · 14/05/2010 22:55

cyb · 14/05/2010 23:01

I need to re read as i feel I am lapsing somewhat

""How to take back control

Plan when and what you will eat .
There should be no room for deviation; the idea is to inhibit mindless eating and eliminate your mental tug-of-war. Once you've set new patterns, you can become more flexible.

Practise portion control
Eat half your usual meal; see how you feel one and two hours later. A just-right meal will keep away hunger for four hours.

List the foods and situations you can't control
Cut out those foods; limit exposure to those situations. If offered something you overeat, push it away.

Talk down your urges -
Learn responses to involuntary thoughts: eating that will only satisfy me temporarily; eating this will make me feel trapped; I'll be happier and weigh less if I don't eat this.

Rehearse making the right choices

Before entering a restaurant, imagine chosing a dinner that's part of your eating plan. Think of this as a game against a powerful opponent. You won't win every encounter, but with practice you can get a lot better.
