I haven't been bunged up at all but wonder if having the bran throughout the day rather than all at once in the morning would help?

notyummy · 02/09/2010 14:43

Thanks for the 'bunged up' thoughts! Grin

I have not been doing the 20 mins walking (shame on me...) Will only manage 10 mins today due to hectic nature of day - but did visit the gym yesterday so did my share then. Nothing on Tuesday though. Will try and do some jumping up down/dance style exercise tomorrow morning - that coupled with a mild laxative tonight should get things moving...?!

Am already drinking 2/3 caffienated coffees a day, but think the thought of spreading out the oat bran is interesting.

Have been eating Activia yoghurts - having looked at one now, it is relatively high in carbs (12.8g per serving.) Although only 75 cals. May have to look around for differnt ones. Alternative is plain fat free fromage frais with some sweetner stirred in. Yay! (Not)

Will also have a look at that tea suggested - don't want to give up my tea and coffee completeky though. Years ago when I tried Atkins, one of things that brought on a migraine and hence 2 days confined to bed was the combination of giving up carbs, sugar and caffeine all at once. My body didn't know what had hit it!

kittya · 02/09/2010 17:41

i havent planned my nights very well and its either beans on toast for me or, a frozen weight watchers meal for one. I hope I dont do too much damage as I am less bloated and feel great!

Katisha · 02/09/2010 17:58

Hmm beans on toast sounds pretty carby! How carby is the WW one?

kittya · 02/09/2010 18:06

17.1

Katisha · 02/09/2010 18:09

Not too bad. Have that one.

saltcod · 02/09/2010 18:54

Yay! My book has arrived! Blimey, it's thick Shock

Checked all the yoghurts in Tesco but they all seemed so high in carbs to me. However, I think that's probably due to my old atkins mentality where 20g of net carbs was your daily allowance and one of these yoghurts would use up half of that allowance!!

Off to bury myself in the book & re-educate myself...

Am also wondering whether to introduce a few lettuce leaves with my lunch tomorrow... feels a bit nervewracking after not touching veg for 5 days!

moonshine · 02/09/2010 20:22

Yohurts are a thorny issue - psychologically I need a pudding/something sweet every day and they are the only thing that fit the bill for me atm. I have been searching the Sainsburys site today but the lowest carb one still seems to be the Total 0% which has 4g carbs per 100g. Shame it can get a leetle boring.

Saltcod I have skimmed a lot of the 2nd half of the book - think I'll read it if and when I get there which, at the rate I'm going, will be sometime next year Hmm. I wouldn't mind so much if I was desparate to get into at least one lovely dress I have in exactly 5 weeks time (have given up on the other one for now) - it's a Karen Millen cocktail one which I have been lusting after for about a year (black, hour-shaped with sleeves which is a bonus for me). Originally so expensive but finally found it on ebay at less than half price new with tags. Is it just me deluding myself or are Karen Millen sizes on the very small side (go on, humour me reassure me that's why I can barely get it over my bum).

Am very Envy how so many of you can get away with a lot of ahem digressions and still lose loads quickly.

And totm still not started. Do I really have to buy a pregnancy test now (am nearly 2 weeks' late which is very unusual)Confused.

moonshine · 02/09/2010 20:29

Sorry, can I do the usual double post? Psyllium husks, which you can get in tablet or powdered form, is always recommended on such diets as the Cambridge and other low-carb ones to 'keep you regular'.

Moonshine I'd be surprised if it wasn't the change in diet amd weight loss mucking you about with TOTM...But I suppose you could do a test cos if you are ahem then you probably need to come off Dukan!

dott · 02/09/2010 21:36

Thanks to you all for taking the time to answer my questions.

I was 77kg this morning so I think it is sort of working - but it is very early days.

Can you eat too much yoghurtie stuff? I had one and half tubs of quark today.

Feeling a bit grotty, spotty and as if my diet is not very good. I desperatly want to get to below 70kg.

Katisha · 02/09/2010 21:46

That's normal dott as things start to work - feeling grotty etc. Drink lots of water to flush things along.

As is being discussed, I think the danger of overdoing the yoghurty stuff lies in the carb count, which Dukan is strangely quiet about, but this IS essentialy a low carb diet so I think it's worth watching.

Hi, its Friday and Ive finished five nights. I should be looking forward to the weekend but.... Its my birthday. My friends want to take me to lunch Sunday and we are going out for dinner Saturday. Plus, its the weekend starting from tonight, catching up with my soaps and, a glass of fizzy water??

Ive been doing pretty well so far. i feel better.

dott · 03/09/2010 10:04

Thanks lottie.
I feel much better today.

I am not too worried about the carbs. earlier in the year I did atkins and was in ketosis but didnot lose weight - I htink I was eating too mcuh fat etc... So I think calories are a bigger deal than carbs but low fat high proptein lw carb is probably a good aim as protein is known to have a marked effect on reducing appetite.

What about wine - does it mess the diet up or can you get away with it?

saltcod · 03/09/2010 10:05

Agh... a huge birthday cake was waiting for me at work this morning, so even with just a little slice I will be totally carbed up. Will stay away from the scales for a few days now.

As to the yoghurt discussion, I've been using it for cooking with but will avoid it for dessert as I still can't get over the carb phobia and I'm not fond of yoghurts anyway! The milk jellies & diet coke are giving me my fake sugar fix for now :)

Have 2 bright green lettuce leaves in my lunchbox today... it's been 6 days since I've eaten anything that wasn't brown/white/yellow!

saltcod · 03/09/2010 10:07

Dott, wine is supposed to be a no-no but people seem to be getting away with the odd glass at the weekend...

moonshine · 03/09/2010 17:18

There's seems to be lots of birthdays on this thread this past week or so. But Saltcod was it your birthday or someone else's?

Kittya - I hope you have a lovely birthday. I think that you can enjoy some 'off-diet' treats if you decide that it won't put you off the diet but just delay the weight loss by a few days. And would that be so bad?

I haven't risked wine yet but I have my stupid 'fit-into-a-particular-dress' schedule until the beginning of October. But I might cave in before then.

The bad news is I still haven't started totm and feel very bunged up (but am sure it's psychological). The good news is I did a pregnancy test and it was negative (with apologies for any insensitivities to anyone on that score). Although I could have done without the shop assistant shouting out 'the single pregnancy test or double one' across the shop and everyone staring at me Hmm.

I conquered my fear of vegetables and had a big salad at lunchtime but definitely feel more bloated. But, as Dukan said, any weight loss won't show now until after a pp day. I hope.

For the losers, after how much loss did you really notice your clothes getting loser?

moonshine · 03/09/2010 17:19

I meant looser, sigh.

saltcod · 03/09/2010 17:50

Hi Moonshine, the cake was for my birthday so there was no way I could refuse a slice. Only had a small one though. Good news about the negative test result - bet you're relieved!!

Had some lettuce today and will have some swede & brocolli (sp?!) with my dinner tonight. Tomorrow back to PP, then Sunday it's a birthday dinner so more falling off the wagon! Feels weird to almost resent the birthday cake & celebration meals lol!

moonshine · 03/09/2010 18:16

Saltcod - Happy Birthday to you too then! I know what you mean re resenting the supposed nice things in life but I guess part of the diet is fitting it into 'real life' without letting it spoil your ultimate goal. Enjoy your birthday meal anyway!

Im going to try and stay off the wheat this weekend. I hope no-one has made me a birthday cake!!

Yes, its a popular week, I have four birthdays in my family. I wonder if its something to do with Christmas?
