Hi all :)

Well I am still doing well lost another 4lbs this week Grin That's now 40 lbs in total. Another 2 lb then I am half way there :)

I am loving this diet. I have the recipe book on order so will be glad when that comes, just got to wait until it is released. I need to experiment more as I am getting bored of just dry meat!

I did prawns, with peppers, onions and chillies, with Tikka Masala spice and yogurt last night, it was really nice.

I am enjoying the walking too and the Just Dance on the Wii :)

Still getting the weird dreams though, some worse than others.

Well good luck everyone, hope you keep as motivated as me
x

Excellent work MB1!

As for me, well a new low figure appeared on the scales this morning. Which will go away again until next week as per usual. Anyway - according to this I have 8 and a half pounds to go to target.

HOWEVER

DH has kindly demonstrated that when the scales are on the carpet (where they usually are) they show a weight of four pounds lighter than when they are on a hard floor. Something to do with the springiness of the carpet apparently. So now I don't know what to believe! Am I really 12 and a half pounds away from target???

I know it's the relative weight loss that counts, but DH doesn't quite grasp what a psychological blow this is!

moonshine · 30/08/2010 16:27

Wow MB1 that is brilliant - how long have you been doing it?

And Katisha - I must admit I do tend to agree with your dh that the hard floor measurement is probably more accurate unless they are special 'carpet' scales (they usually say they are specifically somewhere on the packaging). But you are obviously losing weight so well done.

Thank you all for your reassurance re: totm. I'm sure that's what it is although it still hasn't started (Lottie I'm 44 am lucky to have 2 lovely healthy primary-aged children and couldn't contemplate going back to the baby-stage again).

I have just had the most unsatisfactory meal. It was a chicken salad with some mozzarella cheese but I'm sure it had oil on it even though I asked for the dressing on the side Hmm. I also noticed the garlic bread (which I wasn't eating) was mouldy after the dcs had been eaten most of it Shock. Don't think we'll be going back there again!

Official weigh-day for me and I am still only 6lbs down, so I already seemed to have stalled in my 2nd week. But I will grit my teeth and try another week.

kittya · 30/08/2010 19:06

Ive faltered. There were four new potatoes in the fridge tonight and I needed cheering up before I go on night duty. Damn.

Back on the Attack tomorrow. Monday is my birthday and night out so, I hope I will be abit slimmer by then!

I need to do some food shopping tomorrow.

I must admit, this attack phase is pretty boring food wise.

kittya · 30/08/2010 19:07

Ps, is it ok to buy one of those M and S chickens that are half cooked in the bag? if I take the skin of. They are convienient for me.

Katisha · 30/08/2010 20:01

Chicken would be fine in any form I think.

Oh well - new potatoes - could be worse. Of all the types of spud they are apparently the lowest carb...

Another good M&S thing is the three for £5 on chicken/salmon/ham deli stuff.

Murraythecat · 31/08/2010 02:08

Grr.. I am frustrated. I have to start all over again! D'oh!

On the weekend we all packed up for a 'quick visit' to see Mr's Mum and Stepdad. Next thing I know its a whole day there with lasagne and bread served for an early dinner. eek.

Of course this led to us not getting home until late on Sunday... with no groceries in the house.

So got off to this great start and have ot start again.

How do you all cope with a social life? We have plans for Saturday night and I'll still be on attack! :(

Morning all. Well, back from my camping trip where my resolve to stick to the diet lasted all of the first day until hubby and kids got the crisps out in the evening. Then I quite simply gave up!!! I'm not going to worry about it though - had a great weekend, and lots of exercise, so good time to start again. Glad to hear that most of you have a far better staying power than me.

moonshine · 31/08/2010 09:29

I knew not having a social life would work in my favour one day....

Katisha · 31/08/2010 10:08

Murray my policy when eating in company whether out or at friends is not to mention the diet unless you want a barrage of comments about how unhealthy this fad diet must be, and can you really not eat fruit and how you don't need to diet etc etc etc...

So as Lottie says, just try to keep it low carb. Salad type thing. Meat and veg but pretend you are too full to eat the bread rolls or spuds. Cheese for dessert if available.

On the other hand I was invited to a friends the day after the initial 5 day attack and as I felt I couldn't refuse stuff she had made such an effort with, I ended up having cake and other carby things. I just went back on attack for another couple of days. I think the odd lapse can be made up for, it's just that after eating carby stuff you get terrible cravings for more the next day!

Hi there, back from my two week holiday! Amazingly, I stuck to the diet - didn't find it too hard, just a couple of times when I could have done with icecream/a cold beer/pudding/a sandwich (delete as appropriate!).

SO glad I did - I'm a shade over 7lbs lighter and I feel great. Got into some work clothes today I haven't been able to wear for ages and feel fantastic and trim! Just 1/2 stone to go to get to my weight goal.

Congrats on all the losses - keep going, ladies!

kittya · 31/08/2010 17:36

you are very good. Sticking to it on holiday.

Today is my first day back on the attack.

I went to M and S this morning after work, got to the counter and had forgotten my purse!!

All I have in is a piece of steak an egg and a Muller lite!! will that be enough to see me through to tomorrow morning?? yikes!

notyummy · 31/08/2010 18:36

Help!!

OK, today is my first day and I am feeling a bit grim tbh - tired, 'clogged', headachey - although not hungry.

Please tell me this passes??

Also, how much is a 'table spoon' (ref to oat bran) - I know that sounds thick, but is it a dessert spoon or a serving spoon? Internet throws up either 15g or 25 g - but thats quite a difference and I don't want to overserve myself.

At the moment I feel more bloated than anything else....not v reassuring. Not much to lose though, so hopefully I won't be on it for long.

Katisha · 31/08/2010 19:01

Hi notyummy - yes it passes! Day or two.

A tablespoon is a serving spoon - a dessert spoon would be too small.

Drink more water as well - that helps it all move along.

If you haven't got much to lose you'll probably find you don't get miraculously quick results but stick with it.

Me too!! I just bought a load more on my way home.

Ive had strange cramping during the night. I wonder if this diet will affect my fibroids?

Im definitely flatter.

notyummy · 01/09/2010 09:24

I am trying to only have 1 Activia yoghurt a day - but its hard as these are the only 'high point' for me. How sad.

Still got a really bad headache this morning, but at least I don't feel quite as tired and sick as last night. I thought I was going to have a full blown migraine, which wouldn't have been good - dietary changes are one of my triggers. I am hoping this passes in a couple of days as you suggest and I will be feeling better tomorrow.

On a positive note, I have lost 2.5 lbs in 36 hours, and only have a max of around 6 or 7 to ose, so that is encouraging!

moonshine · 01/09/2010 11:10

Wow, really good weight losses here - Lottie am very Envy as I think you started at the same time as me and I've 'only' lost about half as much as you.

I eat low fat yoghurts like there's no tomorrow (which is probably why I'm losing so 'slowly' but then it keeps me on the diet so I'm willing to make a few deals with the Devil). And M&S is my saviour on the food front - love their ready cooked chilli/lime chicken and hot smoked salmon among other things. This diet is proving to be very expensive!

My totm still hasn't started, sigh, but at least I didn't have any new spots this morning - I have had loads under and around my chin this past week.

On the bright side (and this is now a tmi warning!!) I produced a huge, well you know, and felt instantly lighter Shock. Sure helped the weight-loss stats!!

Does anyone else go to the gym?? I am finding that my running on the treadmill is getting worse each time I go. Is this a temporary problem or will it not improve until I start on the carbs again?

Lottie - my true weight is very close to the one which would make my bmi about 25 so I now have about 25 pounds to go, although if I was slightly heavier I don't think I would mind that much as, as I think I mentioned, that would probably make me a small size 14 which seems ok on my largish frame. Would love to reduce my bust size though and the 'attractive' hamster rolls which seemed to have accumlated around my back.

I was once nearly 18 stones after my 2nd dc Shock. Lost more than 100 pounds on Lighterlife but put on a fair few after, although I am really the world's worst yo-yo dieter.

I agree with the 'sweet' hit we probably get off the yoghurts but Dukan does talk about how that's ok in the book, doesn't he? He is right about not losing that need. After seven months on LL I still craved it.

moonshine · 01/09/2010 11:46

Oops, meant to say thanks for gym info - hopefully I will be back to jogging slowly running for longer than a few minutes again soon.

Katisha · 01/09/2010 12:34

Lottie well done on the landmark stone!!

I have a tip for when you want to eat something sweet - have a strong mint of some description. I bought some sugar-free ones.

It's like cleaning your teeth (actually that's another trick) as other things don't taste right afterwards and the craving diminishes.

Might save on the yoghurt bill. I don't think it's great to eat too many of 'em what with the aspartame and highish carb value.
