Hi, I have started the Dukan Diet. Managed to get thru day 1. Anyone else trying it? What do you think ?

You're right, Katisha. (better add just one more packet of hulahoops to the list since my last post} Blush

I will see it as a consolidation meal!

Katisha · 23/08/2010 20:58

Bin the rest of the hulahoops and don't buy any more!

Back on attack for a couple of days I reckon.

Katisha · 23/08/2010 20:59

Or maybe attack plus veg as it's veg you were looking forward to.

rainbowinthesky · 23/08/2010 21:00

I went shopping today and bought the crisps, biscuits etc for the kids (ha!} so cant chuck em out. Yes. I think maybe a couple more days on attack might be in order.

Katisha · 23/08/2010 21:07

Lottie, Dukan talks in the book about how your body remembers its highest weight and for some reason would rather like to keep being there. That's why he bangs on about the consolidation phase being long and important once you get to target weight.

Like you though, in the past I have lost weight and the thought of eating a twix or something is just alien, until some really stressful day and then it's a bit of a slippery slope. "I've eaten that so I might as well eat this". I suppose we all have this problem to some extent.

It's interesting watching DH who is thin, to see how a thin person thinks and behaves. He doesn't eat stuff just because it's there, or needs "tidying up". He will have one serving of something and not seconds. Not for any virtuous reason - he is full and so just leaves it there. He doesn't binge, ever. He can look at a slice of chocolate gateau lying in the fridge and not get round to eating it for days. How a thin person thinks - weird.

I am not on the consolidation phase yet, but I do like the fact that Dukan seems to have quite a few safety nets built in - the "celebration meals" (presumably normal eating to anyone else!) and the protein-only days to keep things in check. And the fact that once at consolidation you can start eating bread again.

I hope when I get there that it works like he claims!

Hi All :)

kittya I used All Bran for the first 3 weeks and lost loads so don't worry, just get the oat bran when you can.

Ok a question for some of the longer termers, this is my 5th week on the diet, I did 9 attack days and am now on the cruise. How long do the weird dreams last for? I am still having them and so is a work colleague.

I lost another 2 lb this week which is brilliant considering I cheated on Saturday (family do) and I also started my period on Monday. Normally I add pounds so I'm well chuffed. Over all I have lost a staggering 35lbs I think the attack stage just helped to get it out of my body, I had really cut down for a few months before I started on this but wasn't having any luck. This is really working for me :) Woo hoo

insertexpletive · 25/08/2010 14:05

Well done MummtBirdthe1st you are going so well!

I am still away, so not able to weigh-in but after my disaster early on in the holiday, am really trying to be good.

I still occasionally get really weird dreams - not all the time, but some of them can be a bit disturbing.

Home on Friday - so the truth will out...

This is my first day and, I am on nights all week. Ive been to marks and got a chicken which I will take to work. What kind of diet drinks are you using? what about Robinsons no added sugar? The same goes for sugar free gum. thanks!

Katisha · 25/08/2010 21:17

You can have diet coke according to Dukan.
Personally I don't bother and stick to tea, cofee and water.

I am going to have to wrote off today as a "celebration meal" ahem. Had to fly to a meeting and back again and airports totally hopeless for food, plus leaving house at 5.30am has made me feel all tired and emotionl.

So I have polished off MIL's trifle. Yes the one I wasn't going to eat.

Onwards and upwards.

(Yes Lottie - agree that Dukan demonises fat. On the other hand, it is working. As we said before, it basically makes it a pretty low calorie diet by stealth!)

Yes, low carb IS essentially healthy. I have come to the conclusion that the low fat aspect is OK while actively trying to lose weight as many of us on atkins slowed up on the cheese/cream/nuts.

I still believe in full-fat products and when I am at target weight will return to proper yoghurt and just not eat so much of it! Ditto cheese. But actually I was never one for fatty meat and have always cut off extra fat and not gone for fatty stuff. Just not keen.

I think a key thing is avoiding factory processed food as much as poss, what with all the funny fats, sweeteners and preservatives.

Well you mentioned time of month - that can have a huge bearing on things.

Well after my trifle (and other assorted carbs on planes) binge yesterday I am...

...a pound lighter...

Oh well - presumably the associated water retention will show up tomorrow!

If not, I suggest we all hit the sherry trifle as a diet aid.

Hi Everyone, I am new to this board and picked up Dukan at an airport and read it earlier this week.

Yesterday was Day 1 for me and today is Day 2. I figure I will do between 5-7 days on the attack as I have rougly 5 stone to lose. Blush Blush [blus]

But I've read this whole thread and I am so impressed. All of you seem to have had at least some success if not even great success! Woohoo! Hopefully it will help me, too.

I have a fantasy of losing a stone in the 3 weeks leading up to my 32nd birthday on the 16th. How sweet would that be! :)

Oh and despite my handle being murray, I am a girl. Murray the cat is my cat. :)

PandaBear · 27/08/2010 08:19

Morning All. How are we all doing? Despite finding it more and more difficult to come up with different meals, I am doing ok. I've lost another 2.25 pound this week, but was hoping for a bit more (I'm not the most patient of people), still not at the end of week 2 yet, so I guess I should try to wait and see. Any tips for how to stay focused whilst on a camping trip???? At least food wise, I intend to have a glass or 3 of wine Smile! Well done to all of you who have done so well - you're my inspiration.
