Hi Everyone,

I've read through all of your posts, and it's great to get some tips. I'm currently on the Cruise stage and have lost 7lbs so far in 10 days, which I'm pleased with, although still have cravings! I'm going to keep going for another 10 days on this stage but after that I'm not sure if I can keep going!

Just wanted to check something can you use tinned chopped tomatoes? wanted to make a tomato sauce with some mince.

Thanks

Yes frankenbread - quite agree!

I have done Atkins but found that keeping coming back to it was getting less and less effective. I am pleased that Dukan is working - I found that standard low carbing was maintaining weight but I was finding it incredible slooooow to actually lose.

I'm not all that keen on the recipes that attempt to recreate "normal" food with weird ingredients. I sure as heck haven't bought any aspartame and I'm not going to be trying to make odd bread substitutes and so on. I don't use the recipes at all - just eat "straight" stuff like meat, fish, veg, salad and the dreaded omelette and yoghurts.

Yes the low fat thing is hard to grasp. Doesn't add up on the carb counting front, but on the other hand it's working so I will stick with it for now.

But while I am follwing the party line on low fat yoghurts and not stuffing down cheese like I would on Atkins, I am not bothering with low fat milk. It's white water. I have the full fat in my tea and coffee and don't think it's doing much damage.

And have eaten a lot of ham and pork.

yes this must be why Dukan is working - low carb, low fat - essentially low calorie. (Low food really...)

And now my crutch is low-fat yoghurt with bran in it. Not cream cheese! How are the mighty fallen...

LondonLottie - keep going, you are doing so well - better than me :)

I had a bad evening, came home from DS's sports day and ate a chocolate muffin with him, and then 2 packets of pom bears on the way up the stairs. Then chilli with no rice and for dinner and some wine, because it was thursday and DH had opened the bottle Blush

I'm worried about the weekend, as i dont think I have ever been on a diet where I've managed to be 'good' all weekend

back to my activia and oatbran this morning, got wafer ham and boiled eggs for lunch and lots of water

its interesting to hear what you say about atkins, I never managed to get through the first few days, but I was speaking to my friend the other night who did it just before her wedding and she's not really got anything to work for her since then

Wow, what willpower. I love them too, any kind of bread really.

Its got to take time to get back into dieting, especially after twins. I know what you mean though, when you make all of this lovely food for the children, I have to try awfully hard not to steal a bit and eat the leftovers.

I am probably around an 18, just around the waist and I know what you mean, it makes me feel terrible to be such an odd shape as nothing fits well. I have lots of stuff just hanging in the wardrobe waiting for me to lose a bit. Last night I found a beautiful jacket that i wanted to wear this winter and I am trying to visulaise myself wearing it :)

You are doing so well though and had a great attack phase, keep doing what you are doing and Im sure you will lose over the next few days. Keep going!!

rainbowinthesky · 20/08/2010 09:48

Start of day 3 attack for me. I feel great but jesus I could kill for some toast or even better the aldi dark chocolate that is all hazelnuts with a tiny bit of dark chocolate around them. Not just a small piece mind but the whole bar.
Sigh. Today is a going to be a hard day.
My book has been dispatched though so hopefully its arrival will inspire.

rainbowinthesky · 20/08/2010 09:52

Oh god, I've just seen estimated delivery date is 26th! WHy didnt I do 1st class?!
I am due to end attack in a couple of days and have no clue what to do after this till book arrives.
WHat do I need to do straight after attack?

Katisha · 20/08/2010 10:06

Rainbow here are links to the Daily Mail series they did on it - explains most of it, although the book has more detail. Should keep you going though.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Thanks, Katisha. Very helpful links.

I had to come back from the park today after 10 minutes to use the loo despite having gone just before leaving.

Too scared to weigh myself yet after 3 days as if I havent lost much I'll think it's not workign and give up and if I have lost a lot I'll think I can stop now as I've lost some.

insertexpletive · 20/08/2010 18:30

Hi everyone

Interesting few posts in the last couple of days.
I have never tried Atkins before, so not sure how Dukan compares, but I liked the idea of not overdosing on fat, hence decided to give Dukan a go.

I am finding this holiday really tough - I am generally being good during the day - I am making myself a packed lunch of various meats whilst the dc and dh have lovely fresh bread (made by me!!) sandwiches, and managing to say no to ice cream, chocolate and crisps, but at night, I can just feel my willpower ebbing away.

I am trying really hard to say to myself that if I need a treat, it has to be an Atkins treat - so a handful of nuts or slice of cheese, but even that is wearing thin - anyone got any other ideas for Atkins style treats that would be low carb, but not officially allowed on Dukan?

Katisha · 20/08/2010 23:50

Went to MILs for dinner this evening.
She'd made a trifle especially because she knows I like it.
Oh Lordy.

Reader, I ate it.

Katisha · 20/08/2010 23:54

Insert - Atkins is pretty tricky for treats once you've done cheese and nuts.

What about blueberries/berries in general (maybe get frozen ones from supermarket) and some nice full fat Greek yoghurt - that was my usual Atkins breakfast - love it.

I know...But there was nothing else I could do. And we had to bring some home, even though DH is not all that keen on trifle, I won't have any more though.

Re your aubergine though Lottie, I suspect that is perfectly fine as I have just read some peculiar tip on the Dukan website where he advocates stuffing down half a baked aubergine before a meal as an appetite suppressant.

Most odd.

Katisha · 21/08/2010 09:36

Here, assuming the link stays the same

SpanishHarlot · 21/08/2010 09:43

Hi everyone, i have had a pretty up and down week this week. DH has been away and I have not had a lot of willpower this week. Think I have had too much time on my hands with not having to run around after him for a change.

am desperately trying not to go back on the carbs but it is soooo tempting.

have loaded the fridge with yoghurts. Tried the little cubes of turkey the other day just dry fried in a pan with a dash of soy and they were lovely with an egg on the side. Really tasty.

must try harder, must try harder, must try harder....etc etc.
