Hi SnowieBear and thank you I will make a note of that!

31bs in a day is good going, energy levels should get even better after a couple of days!

I weighed and meaured myself today at 2 weeks, have lost 12lbs, 4" of my stomach, 2" off hips and 1" everywhere else. Have done the 20 minute walk most days (5 out of 7), as well as 50 stomach crunches before I go bed, and have been making the most of the nice weather by going on at least one bike ride at the weekend.

I bet weve all lost a good size person between us

SnowieBear · 14/07/2010 12:40

Hi Fidget, great going! I do hope I can report such fantastic results in two weeks time soon!

8oz gone since yesterday, tucking into my fat-free vanilla yogurt & sawdust now - yum!

Katisha · 14/07/2010 21:53

Still on a bit of a plateau here but persevering.
Ordered a size 14 denim skirt from White Stuff, thinking I'd be pushing my luck. It came today. It's TOO BIG!!!
However it's the usual problem of being massive around the waist but probably about right on the hips. (Which is in itself a miracle for a size 14.) I think sending it back for a 12 really would be pushing it, but I will anyway, just to see...

Miggsie · 15/07/2010 12:42

I love this diet because if you do fall off the wagon you can just go to a 3 day attack and then you're back on track!

I also note, from the time I ran out of oatbran that the oatbran and water are a great combination for rapid weight loss.

I have been on this since diet end of APril and now iwthin 1.5kg of my true wieght. I now find I can exercise without any faintness at all and actually started pulling weights! I now have defined and visible shoulder muscles!!!! I thought without carbs that intensive training might be a problem, but this far into the diet the dizziness I first experienced has gone and I can do 40 mins of aerobics and weights each day and feel sooooo much better for it.

My super flash "tell you your whole health" scales tell me that when I started I was 40% bodyfat and I'm now 30%!!!!!! What a bonus!

I now need to buy a new set of bras. I am no longer a DD cup.

Fidget32 · 15/07/2010 19:38

Well done Miggsie, has your weight loss per week been consistent? Hope I can say the same in three months!!

I'm on holiday in 4 weeks and would like to lose 31b a week up to then, maybe pushing it though.

I'm not craving anything which is good, even though cooking old favourites for the family still. 2 and a half weeks in and I have not cheated, not once. Theres no inbetween with me though, I either have to obsess and stick to the letter or not care! all or nothing, so to speak!

Not done the the 30 minute walk for last 3 nights because weathers been awful. Kept up the stomach and leg excerises though!

SpanishHarlot · 16/07/2010 19:16

Hi Fidget32, I'm getting better with the pancakes now. I find if i top them with a yohgurt they are ok and fill me up.

Have gone off the boil a bit recently but am going to go for it again. Spanish eating habits are good for this diet because they tend to eat a little of lots of different things and don't tend to add chips or potatoes to everything so can have the ham (and some cheese)

Have found that if I do tend to go for something a bit fatty ie cheese then it is not so bad (bit of an Atkins mix) the weight is still off but will need to go on attack phase now to get it shifting again. Problem is now that summer is here all the family tend to come out to me and are all in holiday mode so want the beers etc.

clothes looking good and no moans from DH even when in my bikini...

SnowieBear · 17/07/2010 08:25

Morning all!

Stuck at 4lb lost over five days - bit miffed, as most of it went on the first day! Still, somehow, I feel "thinner"... didn't take any measurements at the start, though.

Fidget, I've also struggled with the walking in the very unpredictable weather - I was planning to use my lunch break, but couldn't really stroll out and risk being caught up in a shower having to go back to work . I've done a few evenings, but yesterday just didn't happen. Still, going out to Leicester market for the day, that'll see to the walking today.

Planning to keep on attack for another five days, we'll see how it goes.

SpanishHarlot, I'm going to be in Spain visiting my family next month and I'm bracing myself - all the lovely food I cannot have here will be winking at me across the table - I hope to be strong and resist any urges!

insertexpletive · 17/07/2010 12:06

Hello everyone

Good to hear you are sticking with it! I am now 32lbs down and a comfortable size 14.

I have had a great morning - got dh to get all the clothes down from the loft that I was too vein (and stingy) to get rid of after having dd and did not get back into before pregnant again with ds - six years down the line, I never thought I would get back in them.

Well - they all fit with the exception of two pairs of trousers which I can do up but look a little too tight. I am so thrilled with myself. It feels so good!

My mountins of large clothes are going to the charity shop - I never want to be a size 18+ again.

I had a big discussion with dh about how I am going to keep the weight off as I think he is worried that it will pile back on again. I really do think that following stage 3 of the diet will work - I need some sort of regulation, but at the same time will enjoy having a little more freedom with the diet to have some treats.

Good luck everyone - if I can do this, anyone can

Katisha · 17/07/2010 12:10

Well done insertexpletive! Really good news!

Can I ask - along the way did you have plateaus where the weight didn't shift? If so how long have they tended to last?

(Been at same weight for a week now harrumph.)

insertexpletive · 17/07/2010 12:28

I have had plenty of weeks where the weight did not seem to want to come off - particularly in the days before my period.

I drink more water and try and do a little more physical activity and this seems to do the trick a few days later - it is hard though, especially when I know that I have not been too naughty.

Weekends are bad for me and off to a party tonight so will no doubt have a few too many drinks - it is a barn dance though, so hopefully jumping around like a loon will make up for the booze [hopefull emoticon}

SpanishHarlot · 17/07/2010 16:59

Hi SnowieBear

If you go for the tapas its ok because you can have the serrano ham and cheese option (bit higher on the fat levels but better than nothing). They do lots of sausages and always lots of seafood options.

Steer clear of the paella that is so heavy it feels like concrete in your stomache.

have the plato combinado too, that is normally egg, lomo (thin chops) or chicken or their salads with tuna.

have a lovely time, it is verrrrry hot here at the moment.

uggmum · 17/07/2010 17:30

Hi everyone.

I am still going well. I have started with mixing oat bran with yogurt everyday to speed up the weight loss. Also had a new program done in the gym which is 40 mins of fat burning. Managing to go 3 times a week. But it's school hols soon so I will have to reduce it a bit.

I now get stopped 2/3 times a day by people commenting on my weight loss and 4 of my friends have now started the diet.

My weight loss so far is 35 pounds. I have struggled for years to lose weight and tried loads of diets. I can't believe how effective this has been.

I aim to lose a further 17 pounds to reach my goal weight.

Good luck everyone. Keep up the good work.

It seems we will all be in spain next month!

Well done insertexpletive and uggmum, inspiration to all!

I had the same problem in my first week snowiebear, and i was definately losing inches but not weight. don't worry it will soon start shifting again. Maybe water retention, think thats what it was for me, asparagus seems to work quite well, and i've been eating lots of chilli's on everything (read its a good fat burner).

Found a nice desert too, Hartleys sugar free jelly pots, contain about 6 calories, 0.3g carb, nice with a couple of spoons of fat free yoghurt.

Reached the stone milestone today after 18 days... Yay!

missjellycat · 18/07/2010 11:43

Hi all! I've been doing Atkins for 2 months, pretty strictly except for once a week blowout when I order a Dominos or eat a whole tub of Pringles. (great relationship with food, can you tell?!) I don't have huge amounts to lose - I've been at 10.1 stone for the past 4 years or so. However I have been 9 stone and would love to be that for my hols - also in Spain

Anyway, I have been losing steadily, am now at 9.6 stone. I mostly feel good, slim and healthy, but I have started to get worried about my cholesterol levels. I have been eating lots of high fat foods, e.g yesterday I managed to snack throughout the day on a whole bag of 6 Babybels and sometimes feel like my system is struggling, not my digestion but my heart and lungs?! I may be wrong but was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had experienced similar worries? I know Dukan is low-fat, from reading this thread with interest, but the idea of protein only scares me. Can I get a cholesterol test done at doc? I feel a bit silly as it's obviously self-inflicted

Katisha · 18/07/2010 11:57

Missjellycat actually I had a cholesterol test done a few years back when I had similar worries about atkins, but it turned out to be a very positive result, and nothing to worry about.

Surgeries can be reluctant to do these tests unless you have a good reason, but you can but ask. I have a history of heart disease in the family though, so they did it for me.

I still believe full-fat products are preferable to low-fat but will carry on in the Dukan style until I reach the weight I want to be. I think you are more likely to get rubbish saturated fat from your pizzas and crisps - I think it doesn't bode well to do Atkins PLUS highly processed stuff.

I think you can do Atkins very well on good fat like fish and lean meat. Maybe ease up on the cheese and cream? Or come over to Dukan until you get to your target weight?

Fidget32 · 18/07/2010 12:26

Any diet that makes you feel ill should warrant a trip to the doctors i'd say!!!!

Nancy66 · 18/07/2010 12:33

A high fat diet won't necessarily lead to high cholesterol levels.

A friend of mine has high cholesterol - she's slim, very healthy eating, non drinking and a marathon runner...it's just hereditary

Miggsie · 18/07/2010 17:56

Slight computer problems so only just back on the thread, I can say, hand on heart that my weight loss HAS been consistent, 1kg per week since coming off attack phase (I did not lose much on the attack phase strangely).

The times I did not lose weight were:
the half term where I ate crisps, eccles cake, scones and fish and chips. My defence is I was visiting my MIL and I NEEEDED the scones for medicinal reasons.

Oh and last weekend we picked 10lb of strawberries and I couldn't resist it...and made a pavlova and stuffed strawberries down. And this week it was cherries. On the up side I now have 12 pots of strawberry jam, 2 of bramble jelly, cherry cordial, 6 pots of blackcurrant jam and 9 pots of raspberry jam. which I will enjoy once on normal(ish) food again.

I am within 1.5kg of my weight target despite this couple of lapses. I also have a waistline as I started (intensely dull) stomach exercises, which I alway hated, and I still hate them.

Also, when I lie down to exercise the cat turns up and bites my head. Weight loss should not be this hard.

Last week DH stood up and his trousers fell down. He has now (with silent dignity) taken his belt in a notch, and he seems well pleased with this.

BTW I discovered that pollack is a very very tasty fish and I happily sit and eat a couple of fillets with some chopped ham. Really nice bit of protein.

sue41 · 18/07/2010 20:56

I have to add to Miggsie, I have been on the dukan diet since May and have lost just over two stone. I have had one or two weeks where I stuck for a few days but the diet has been relatively easy.

For sweet things I have found lots of things in French sites (google 'dukan brownies' and quite a few French sites will
come up with lots more recipes than currently available in English!

My husband has lost about 10lbs in two weeks and my son
a stone and a half in about 8 weeks (but without much walking)!!

My neighbours on it now (and her trousers are also falling down!!) and also my mum who has already met her target.

Well impressed with Dukan diet.

Katisha · 18/07/2010 23:13

Hi Sue and congrats on the weight loss!
Any chance you could post a couple of recipes in English? My French isn't up to those recipes without a LOT of googling of vocab!

sue41 · 19/07/2010 07:25

Hi Katisha

Yes once I'm back from work - but google has
an automatic translate button and turns it into English for you (my French is pretty bad - just enought to ask for a drink and ask if anyone speaks english!)

Katisha · 20/07/2010 18:43

Back again. Where is everyone?
Anyway I am back on a downward trend and have lost a stone in 5 weeks. Hoorah!
Would like to lose another one really. Or at least another 10-12lbs.

shortandsweet2 · 20/07/2010 19:00

Hiya, I have just bought the book today as yu have all been doing so well! just hope it works for me

Do you find it very expensive eating protein all the time?

sue41 · 20/07/2010 23:30

HI Short and Sweet2

No my shopping bill is mainly down (as long as I don't take the husband shopping!!). Not buying so many extras and snacky bits which seem to send the shopping bill up high.
Just steak, yogurt, ham and chicken and loads of eggs...

Good luck it should work, it has for everyone I know.

sue41 · 20/07/2010 23:43

www.forums.supertoinette.com/recettes_413110.recette_dukan_brownies

Recipe for brownies: (I have not tried it yet so I do not know what it's worth. Attention: 2 tolerated

Ingredients
1 tablespoon cocoa
1tbsp of cornstarch
1tbsp of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons liquid aspartame
2 eggs
A pinch of salt
A pinch of baking soda

Mix the ingredients in the order cited. Beat the egg whites. Bake for 20 minutes (190 th) (monitor cooking because the middle must be based).

The above is a google translation and the website address, best to look for 'dukan brownies' in google and it will come up with this and some other French sites but it does have a translate button. This particular site has well over 100 recipes.

Good luck
Sue
