Aaaaaargh! If I lose then gain this same bloody, fucking half a stone once more I will bloody scream!! Lost half a stone before Easter. Two weeks of kids on hol from school, no exercise and eating like a piggy and it's back on!

NO MORE!

Went for a 30min run today and am going to do a food/exercise diary on this thread to keep me focussed until I learn some new habits that stick!

I am 10st 12 and want to hover between 9st7 and 9st10 so a bit to lose, but mainly some kind of stability instead of yo-yo diet/binge hell!

Feel free to join if you are in the same boat!

I recognise some names on here - hello fellow Shredders, please can I join this thread too?

I've been a MN lurker for a while - I got so inspired by the shred thread I bought the DVD + weights and posted my first post(proud emotion).

I've found reading & posting on the Shred thread has kept me motivated to exercise. I didn't think I was a forum posting type of person but it seems to have done the trick, therefore I'm hoping the same will be true with my eating with the support of you folks.

I'd like to lose a stone and a half (would happily settle for one stone or even the half right now) and be a bit more toned. I went to buy some new jeans today and it was depressing . I stupidly found comfort with a packet of custard creams which will have undone all the good work of "The Shred"....Ho hum.

redshoesnoknickers · 21/04/2010 18:38

Welcome everyone! Glad we are all here to chat - i don't talk about dieting at all to real life people as i don't want my DD (5) getting any silly ideas, prob paranoid but there you go!

Am thinking I might manage a run again tonight if DH is home by 7pm. This lovely weather is so motivating!

Doing well on food today - so far all as planned with an apple for snack. Even chucked all the kids leftovers that I def would have scoffed last week

justminute don't beat yourself up... just get back on the wagon tomorrow and your be fine!!!

Ivykaty44 · 21/04/2010 19:34

get yourslef 2kg - 4,5,6kg weights or kettle bells

One of the main reasons you shed and gain weight is due to the first loss being muscle - usually and then you just regain more fat as you go off the "diet"

If you are trying in whatever way to build muscle whilst eating sensible food then you should remain equal (it is really really hard for woman to build muscle and as you get older even harder) but keeping muscle is good as it is supposed to burn 50x more cals than fat - I say supposed cause no one really knows

livvylouis · 21/04/2010 19:43

Red well done on the food today, do you find that planning ahead what u are going to eat for the day helps?
justaminute we all have bad days, just put it behind u, tomorrow is a new day [cheesy emotion]. Off to do my shred now x

justaminute · 21/04/2010 20:06

Thanks Livvy & Twinkle. I'm kicking myself even more now over the biscuit incident cos I've just done the shred and feel great (puffed but happy). If only I could be burning existing fat rather than today's calorie overload. BUT as you say tomorrow is another day and at least I have done some exercise.

I find planning ahead helps. If I know what I'm going to be eating later I avoid blowing out in the day. Whereas if I don't know I usually eat naughty stuff telling myself that i'll recover the calories later by eating salad/ healthy etc but I never do. iykwim.

redshoesnoknickers · 21/04/2010 20:41

I agree justa - if I decide what i'm going to eat for the day and post here in the morning I seem to stick to it. Also if i don't plan I don't eat proper meals and just graze on biscuits etc

Went running but had to do a bit of a short cut as was so knackered. Managed 50 sit ups after tho I think running in the morning is better - more energy! I've run 3 days in a row now so will have tomorrow off and run Friday morning after I drop the kids at school and try and do my longer route with a hill in it (45mins).

I still can't face the shred the idea of staying in doing a DVD when the sun is shining makes me want to cry! Where I run there is gym equipment in the park but I have no idea what to do with it! I might have to pay a trainer to show me so I can just use that for weights as there seems to be weights and resistance stuff to do...

OP posts:
redshoesnoknickers · 21/04/2010 20:43

Thanks Ivykaty - any links to exercises I could do with the weights at home without having to do a DVD?? Just what to do and how many reps so I can do in the garden before/after running?

RSNK - I would be chuffed if I could loose another 37 lb, that would take me down to 9 stone. Haven't been that for such a long time, I am 5ft 4.5" so that is mid range for my height and frame. However I might stuggle to maintain that, might be better at 9 st 5-8 lb....GoLower have anticipated it should take me another 3 - 4 months to get to 9 stone.

Had a crappy day, feel rough sore throat, mouth ulcer, think I am run down. DS has fractured his arm too poor little thing. Been up the hospital every day this week! Don't even feel like eating

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 07:33

Aw Simm hope your DS is OK and you feel better soon.

Plan today:
Breakfast: Activia Yog (vanilla - yum!)
Lunch: Salad with cottage cheese and sweet chilli sauce
Dinner: Smoked trout souffle and green salad
Snacks: fruit/carrot dipped in hummus

No exercise today so leaving out evening carbs.

Am going to weigh tomorrow morn and will post - fri is official weekly weigh for me though i do hop on the scales most mornings because they are there...

OP posts:
twinkle183 · 22/04/2010 09:04

I managed to shred last night but am suffering this morning, I haven't felt me bum for a rather long time.. been up with ds all night throwing up... nice!!!

red smoked trout souffle sounds nice... am back on the wagon today and hopefully I will be fine for the rest of my diet now have had a STRONG word with myself.. that I need to be patient and the weight will come off....

Got college tonight so can't shred until after but will promise to do it when I get back....!!!

Squidmission · 22/04/2010 09:49

Sorry to hear about the poorly dss twinkle and Simmo.

I shredded yesterday too and think I'm going to take today off as my arms and legs were feeling more wobbly than usual. Think I need some recovery time. I will do some sit ups though and go for a walk.

Plan
quorn burger, beans
tomato soup, 2 ryvita, banana
chicken, salad
snacks
fat free yogurt, fruit

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 10:36

Well done for all the shredding!

Sorry about your DS Twinkle - nothing worse than sick bugs...hope you don't catch it!

Are you low carbing Squid? Quorn burger for breakfast LOL

OP posts:
livvylouis · 22/04/2010 10:43

Morning ladies . Feel really good today, shredded last night and was really good food wise!

Plan for today:
breakfast: banana
lunch: beetroot salad & muller yog
dinner: tomato & basil pasta
snacks: fruit

and lots of water, no caffeen today!

justaminute · 22/04/2010 11:44

Mornin'
Your diets all sound lovely and healthy. My plan for today:
Breakfast - Branflakes
Lunch - Ham salad sandwich (no spread)
Dinner - Fish, new pots & veg.
Pud - Strawberries & yog
Snack - fruit

Most importantly - KEEP AWAY from the biscuits

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 12:37

I am a fiend for biscuits justa - the only way is to buy none or buy for the DCs ones you don't like. I have jaffa cakes, malted milk (cow) biscuits and party rings in the cupboard - all yuk imo. Just don't show me a hobnob or a choc chip cookie!!!

OP posts:
Squidmission · 22/04/2010 13:09

Lol Redshoes. Well, if people can have sausages and bacon for breakfast, whats wrong with a quorn burger?
Its diet friendly and filling, so there.

I'm not so bad with biscuits, I love crisps and bread.

So far so good. Size 10, here I come

justaminute · 22/04/2010 15:55

The trouble is... there isn't such a thing as a biscuit I don't like! I keep testing new ones just to make sure

Squidmission · 22/04/2010 16:06

Damn. I have just eaten 4 mini chocs(heroes).
Someone tell me thats not too bad, please??

Squidmission · 22/04/2010 16:13

In fact, no.

Can someone please tell me to stop sabotaging my diet and give me a good kicking please??

redshoesnoknickers · 22/04/2010 18:38

STOP! Step away from the chocs Squid!! Once you pop you can't stop!! (well I can't anyway ) but it is probably not many calories so as long as you stop at 4 no biggie

Had a great day in the sun here brek and lunch as planned and 3 dried peach halves for a snack. Will dinner as planned but DH is bringing wine and I will be unable to resist a glass or two while I watch leaders debate - bit naughty but realistic which is what I am trying to achieve here after all!

OP posts:
Squidmission · 22/04/2010 18:57

It was only 4 and I stuck to the diet otherwise.
I am using so much willpower to not help myself to anymore but I will remain strong.

Enjoy your wine. You can probably get away with it today if you only had what you stated
I'm going to have some camomile and vanilla tea. I think the smell of vanilla fools me into thinking I'm having something yummy

justaminute · 22/04/2010 19:19

Hope your willpower is staying strong Squid, mine desserted me earlier. I had to pop to the shops for some milk and somehow some flapjack made its way into the basket.I've eaten 2 squares ... they were really small squares, does that help?

Dinner is underway now so I've put on extra veg and will sacrifice my planned yogurt + strawberries.

Redshoes - can you pour a glass for me please?

redshoesnoknickers · 23/04/2010 07:13

Don't worry about the little treats guys - I think the important thing is that if you really want it you should have some - it's all the mindless chomping that does the harm not the occasional treat you have thought about and decided to eat

Well this morning I weigh 10 stone 7.5 so i have fixed my Easter binge - am well chuffed!! Will have an extra spring in my step when I go running this morning (planning to do 45mins).

Food will be
Breakfast: Activia Yog
Lunch: Big salad with Hummus
Pre-going out snack as we will eat late: 3 x rice cakes with ham and LF cream cheese
Dinner: Prob curry but will go for the grilled chicken no sauce thing(tikka??)with rice and daal

Going to plan weekend meals and shop for them today as w/e is always the sketchy bit for me But no more!!

OP posts:
justaminute · 23/04/2010 09:28

You are right Redhsoes. I need to control the little treats so they don't turn into big blowouts .

Plan for today
Breakfast - Branflakes
Lunch - Toms on toast
Dinner - Pesto + Pasta
Snacks - fruit

I'm aiming to eat as I normally would but ease back on the biscuits & cakes. Having said that we are off to see a friend this pm and she is a great baker so I'm likely have someting naughty there - just to be polite you understand
