Anyone else doing Weight Watchers?

First week, second bout of Weight Watchers - anyone else having success with WW?

Yes I have been doing WW for about 6 weeks. Though not going to the meetings, which I know I really should as I do think it would motivate me!

I have lost a stone sp far - 2 and a half to go! Even on the rare bad days when I do eat a bit of junk, I have not gained any back which is always a good thing.

I am finding it quite easy most days, think I have had about 4 bad days where I haven't been within my points. I must admit that I am still craving and I do think about food a LOT!

It does seem to be working though and I know it has helped me address my food addiction and I am hoping it has made me think long term and actually change my diet habbits. I am certainly able to resist the cravings now and make healthy choices.

How much are you wanting to lose?

meandjoe · 18/04/2010 08:15

Should add that along with WW I am trying to excercise every day aswell. Even if it's just an up hill walk of a 15 minute bike ride and some stomach crunches I am trying to do something to actually change my shape and tone muscle. x

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 18/04/2010 08:15

I'm on week 14. It's also my second time. Both times whilst bfeeding after my babies were born. I got to goal the first time - so I KNOW it works but it seems to be taking longer this time and I'm not as motivated (just eaten 6 points worth of chocolate - gulp). I've lost 7.3kgs in 13 weeks (I missed my weigh in last week as DD2 was sick and I know I lost but I think I've gained this week. Hoping I will still see a loss when I WI on Tues. Are you going to meetings? Did you get to goal last time?

Great stuff! I can't really do the WW community boards for some reason, so it's nice to see some MNers.

I lost 3st in the States over 5 years ago and got to goal, 135 lbs. I am now 13st7 and my heaviest ever and hoping to get 10st7 and go from there. I am older, have had two more children so not putting a huge amount of pressure on myself.

My first weigh in is tomorrow night - I don't go to meetings as I don't find group support that useful but I do find the actual going somewhere to have an official weigh done much more motivating. It's what worked for me in the States and this week, although very very hard it's looking forward to Monday night that has kept me going.

I've even kept off the house scales

Well done to you all, and especially good look to Shrimp, no way I could have done it while bfing.

Me... I am doing it!!! I am not going to meetings either... my friend gave me all the stuff and am managing okay... have lost 7lbs so far in 3 weeks... so am not doing too bad!

I think about food all the time too and have had a few bad days were I have had one too many biscuits....

It is great though especially with salads... they feel me up and have been mainly eating those!! I like added eggs and beetroot and a few bits of ham or fish!! It's the dinners I struggle with...

I am exercising every other day as well so I guess that is helping.. I haven't gained any weight yet.. I also have 2 1/2 stone left to go now but am taking whatever I can get would like to reach my goal by the end of August so lets hope it continues...

Well done on the weight loss girlies...

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 19/04/2010 01:36

mmm... not sure how brilliant I am being - more just a glutton as I can have more points while feeding!
Well done for keeping off the scales, crace. I think I need to lock mine away.
Twinkle, 7lbs in 3 weeks is fantastic! Well done!
I think not being able to exercise much is my real downfall atm. I eat better when I'm exercising, and feel better too - but I have a 3yr old who will not sit in a stroller so I'm limited to jogging on her two days at kindy. It's not really enough.

crace · 19/04/2010 07:18

Same here, I know the exercising is key but I don't have the energy (or time). I am a childminder and we have a small holding so during the week it's children all hours and then I am wiped out. During the weekend we are moving pigs or mucking out or something and then too wiped out. Hopefully now that I am eating better those things will help me lose weight but I think my body has been used to those. hmmm

Weigh in is tonight - can't wait.

I've started too, week 2, lost 3lbs last week but started period on weigh in day, so hope I have shed alot more by next weigh in on Saturday. Doing it online, find it really easy - partly computer is on all day and very accessible. Haven't been doing too much exercise, kids too small and I'm too knackered. crace - gardening counts as activity points. Lost half a stone this year, got another stone to lose by end of June. First time on a diet, I found the first few days awful - headaches, hunger pangs but getting better.

Not convinced ww it is good for a healthy diet though - used to eat no processed foods, loads of fresh fruit before this diet, now low cal yoghurts have hit my fridge and ready meals. yes veg is zero points, but there is only so much tomatoes, cucumber and raw carrots I can eat!

I've only got 18 points to live off - anybody else got so few .

Eglu · 19/04/2010 16:10

I'm just restarting. Have recently given up working for WW. And had a lready started gaining before I quit.

I am on my first day of counting points. Only have about 10lbs to lose, but since most of my clothes just about fit motivation is difficult. Saying that I have found today okay so far.

FrazzleRock · 19/04/2010 16:13

I've given up. Tried to lose 10 lbs.
I lost 3lbs in the first week then nothing else in the following 4 weeks

I tried reducing my points but I was starving and miserable.

I'm back on GI diet today as I really enjoy eating lots of healthy food which you can't do on WW.

I think WW works if you have a fair bit to lose but not for smaller amounts of weight. I also tried Slimming World which gave me the same crappy results

Good luck everyone!

crace · 19/04/2010 17:12

I agree on the WW not necessarily being ok for those with less to lose. I found I had to really go for it with exercise to get it all off.

It's good that it teaches people how to eat and getting them to realise what you put in your mouth.

Now day 7 still feeling hungry most of the time but first weigh in is tonight and I am really hoping for a good one.

I started a couple of weeks ago. I lost 5 1/2 lbs first week - no effort! I have been on WW before though and knew that the secret for me was tracking with 18 points including a pint of skimmed milk and 1 1/2 litre of water a day, plus loads of zero point soup, curry and salad. Hope you all get on well - it makes you feel loads better. BTW, I don't think week 2 will go as well due to a 2 day away from home blip! But never mind!

crace · 19/04/2010 20:22

Only 3.5 lbs this week, bah!

OP posts:
ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 20/04/2010 05:09

"Only" 3.5lbs, crace? That's fantastic!! I would be over the moon with that type of result! Of course, because I'm feeding, I am only aiming for about 1/2 a kilo a week - BUT a big number would make me feel very excited!

I like it being so unrestrictive and find it easier than counting calories. We eat out a lot and there is no way I could/would want to cut out food/have meal replacements or buy in meals. I do find that I need to eat lots of low point salad and veg every day or I don't loose and feel so hungry.

WI today. Lost 600g - and made my 10%!

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 20/04/2010 05:11

lose NOT loose!

crace · 20/04/2010 09:28

I know it's good, but still.. I was so bloody hungry Good news is that yesterday was easy, didn't eat all my points, and today staying easily on target too. Took buggy out everywhere as well, so hopefully it's all going to work for next week.

Congrats on your 10%!!

OP posts:
crace · 20/04/2010 09:29

And I agree completely - I will not be buying food, meal replacement bars. I need something to work with "real" life that when I've reached goal again I can just continue eating normal food as I have done. Give up cheese?! Never!

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 20/04/2010 09:34

I am kind of. I lost two stone going to meetings this time last year but put a stone of it back on after christmas.

I am doing it online this time, had lost half a stone but had a blip over easter! Not helped by welcome hamper and towering buttercream sponge in our barn! Yum.

I lost 3lbs last week and am very pleased with that. How can you not be happy with 3.5lbs! It's hard for your body to lose that much.

Guadalupe · 20/04/2010 09:36

actually when I started last year I lost 6 lbs the first week, 5 the next and was gutted when the following was 1lb. Apparently you can lose a lot when you first start and then it tails off. Took me ages to lose the rest at a 1lb a wee but I got there in the ened.

cranbury · 20/04/2010 10:03

I find it impossible to eat 18 points and just have real food - may need to make some zero point curry and soups I suppose.

How do you manage eating out. Just order starters? Portion size is way off. Think an average 3 course meal with a couple of glasses of wine at a restaurant has at least 18 points, probably more.

Why did DS self wean so early, didn't have to do it with DD as she BF until she was 2 and I was skinny as a rake.

crace · 20/04/2010 11:24

I am being greedy, aren't I? I am good with it. Small bits and pieces would work great for me.

Cranbury - I have no idea how to eat out, I did hold enough off for 3 G&Ts at my local pub quiz though last week which I thought was impressive!

OP posts:
Melody4 · 21/04/2010 00:16

I lost just 1/2 lb tonight but am relieved ha ha as I expected to put it on! I'm sure I'll do better this week! I rarely go out so don't have that problem! Wish I did!

edwardcullensotherwoman · 21/04/2010 00:31

Me! Good to see some MNers doing it - I wasn't keen on the WW forums. I'm going to meetings, I've got my 5th weigh-in tomorrow. I've lost 7.5lbs so far, not expecting much loss this week as i had a bad day last thursday (salad for 13 points in tesco, was when i worked it out at home!) and a bbq saturday. But I have been really good today and yesterday, so hopefully it won't be to bad.
I love WW because I don't have to give chocolate or cake (some days I actually calculate my points so I can have chocolate after tea [blush}

crace · 21/04/2010 08:02

Well done Melody - any loss is good

ha at chocolate, mine is G&Ts, I schedule it in
