Anyone else doing Weight Watchers?

First week, second bout of Weight Watchers - anyone else having success with WW?

Period gone, 2lbs went with it, so lost 6lbs in 10 days so very pleased. I save my points for wine

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 21/04/2010 12:55

I save points for chocolate - and wine! I can only have a little as feeding (wine, not chocolate) so I don't feel too bad! There is no way I could give up either entrely - even for thin thighs!

re eating out - I haven't had a 3 course experience for months so it's not too hard but we do tend to eat breakfast out a couple of mornings a week (I have poached eggs, smoked salmon, fresh tomato, asparagus, sometimes some avo); lunch with other mums during the week or on a weekend if we haven't had breakfast out (sushi or similar), and dinner out I will usually have steak or fish with salad/veg and any sauce on the side. Portions are usually big but I am on 28 points (please don't stone me and throw me out) so it just means I need to be careful with my snacks.

Hope everyone is having a good day! My happy moment was realising I had 1.5 points left today - so I've just had some chocolate with my tea

crace · 21/04/2010 18:22

Congrats!

I am finding to remarkably easy as I've got an collision investigator coming in roughly 10 mins. Does wonders for ones diet

edwardcullensotherwoman · 22/04/2010 22:55

well done cranbury! well I went last and I'd lost 1/2 lb - not great but at least I didn't put on
saved 2 points yesterday and had 3.5 leftover today, so had a delicious custard slice after tea

mooki · 24/04/2010 23:04

I'm on WW too. I've been going about 9 weeks and have lost 1 stone 3 lbs so far. I didn't have loads to lose - I got my 10% of body weight goal this week and I think I'll keep going for another 5 or 6 lbs

This is the first time I've been on an actual diet of any kind. I have a 2.5 year old and finally decided I couldn't put the extra bit of weight down to post-pregnancy.

I understand that basically calories in have to be fewer than calories out but I just couldn't keep it on track by will power alone, so I've found having a system has really helped. I have so far shelled out on the oilsprayer and a recipe book. (And many many weightwatchers branded products in our weekly shop).

Biggest family hit so far has been the butterbut squash and chickpea curry from last month's magazine. My outlook also cheered up when I discovered that walkers french fries were only 1.5 points.

I use the 'eat out' guide when going to a restaurant - we went to Browns the other week and I pre-planned to have the Chicken Schnitzel as it was the least 'pointy' thing at 9 points - I'm not very good at guessing points values.

I like going to the group as its an hour off for me (we call it healthy eating club in front of my daughter) but the atmosphere in our one can be a wee bit excrutiating as the woman tries to be enthusiastic and the people in the group stare at the floor - does anyone else go to meetings that are a bit less like a uni tutorial group?

crace · 26/04/2010 09:44

Well done Mooki - sounds like you are doing really well! I don't actually stay for the meeting as I have my children with me. It's more of the public weighing in that does it for me. I get pretty excited

Weigh in is tonight after a disastrous Friday and Saturday which I am putting down to monthly hormones. Back on track yesterday and today so far but don't hold much hope for a good weigh in. Will go regardless, hoping to be surprised!

IzziesMummy · 26/04/2010 10:32

Just done my first week of WW. Got my first weigh-in at 12o'clock.

Really don't think I'll have lost anything though, as I'm on a huge number of points (about 6stones overweight and breastfeeding so get a large allowance!).

Also not helped by the fact that we went out for lunch yesterday with the in-laws. I did ok-ish on the main meal as it was a carvery and I avoided all the nice bits but the stress of being nice to the in-laws forced me to have pudding so that used up all my points for the rest of the day!

crace · 26/04/2010 19:38

How did weigh in go?

I lost 3 lbs! So so so thrilled. Amazing

OP posts:
IzziesMummy · 26/04/2010 20:30

I lost 5 and a half pounds . Am so pleased.

But I did make a complete fool of myself at weigh in, as I thought I'd actually put on weight. Last week, i was 16st 6.5lb and today the scales said 16.1.0 but I misread it as 16st 10lb and was devastasted and protested loudly that I'd been keeping to my points! Class leader looking very wondering why I wasn't pleased!

mummytotwins · 26/04/2010 22:53

I started last week and had my wi this morning and lost 3.5lbs, was very happy (if not a little jealous at lots of other first weekers on here and the ww boards losing 6/7lbs) I want to lose another stone and a half, I will be slim this summer!!!

My twins are 2 now so I can no longer blame baby weight (though I lost all my baby weight with ww, then they turned into fussy eating toddlers and so waste not want not led to a stone of weight gain)

crace · 28/04/2010 18:10

How is everyone doing? Having a great week so far, two days in and noticing the ole trousers feeling looser!

OP posts:
mummytotwins · 28/04/2010 18:52

Im doing ok so far (2 days in too) went over by a point yesterday but thats no biggie, been excercising too so feel achey but a good achey lol!

Linziwam · 29/04/2010 19:05

Hi everyone!

I'm doin ww too. I'm on my third week and have so far lost 10.5 pounds!

I love ww cause nothing is forbidden and its up to u if you wanna eat lots of good stuff or not very much bad stuff!

Couple of tips: I've discovered that pimms and diet lemonade is only 1/2 a point, so am managing to get pissed and stay within my points quite often!

also, i have discovered chicken stir fry.
chicken breast - 2.5 points,1/2 massive bag of stir fry veg- 1 point, soy sauce - 0 points and 1/2 bag of chinese stir fry sauce - 1 point. That makes you a mountain of food for only 4 1/2 points.
lots of points saved for pimms oclock!

Good luck this week everyone!

STIDW · 29/04/2010 21:48

I joined WW Online in June last year and have lost an average of just over 2lb a week - that's a total of 7 stone. Only 6lbs to go to reach my goal.

mummytotwins · 29/04/2010 23:55

wow stidw that is fantastic!!! really well done! you must be very proud of yourself!!!

crace · 30/04/2010 07:32

STIDW amazing, well done!

Thanks for the pimms tip - I thought G&Ts were a bargain but that is a top tip!

Speaking of G&Ts - may have over done it a bit last night with it and a 1/4 bag of tortilla chips. That's me over by 11pts. Oops. Weigh in isn't until Monday night so I can make it up. I think an off night is ok every once in a while. Am hoping it's ok, my trousers are getting loose.

OP posts:
cranbury · 01/05/2010 14:31

Only lost a pound this week but did have a 3 course mammoth dinner out one night. So far lost 7lbs in 3 weeks, half my target so not bad. I am just too hungry to exercise in the evening though. I'm on my feet most of the day as have a 1 year old that needs me to walk.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2010 15:47

im doing ww - i did it 7 years ago and lost 4 stone on it, and kept it off for 5 years but with takeaways and holidays piled some back on i needed to lose 2 stone and 5 lbs

been on it since jan this year and lost 20lbs, so basically works out a lb a week - i have weeks i sts and weeks i lose 2 lbs but luckily havnt gained yet

i have weeks when dont stick to my points and sts and weeks im very good and still sts - weird

i have 13lbs left to go

remmeber a lb a week is just under 4 stone in a year

I do wish someone would remove chocolate muffins from recipe of the week in the RH bar.

crace · 03/05/2010 19:44

Down 4 lbs this week, 10.5 so far in total. Thrilled, absolutely. Bad news is that I am down a point

OP posts:
BarbieLovesKen · 03/05/2010 20:11

Well done crace and everyone else on your losses! 4lbs is excellent in a week.

Can I join too?. I pile on the weight when pregnant, after my dd I lost 7 stone in 10 months on weight watchers. So I know it works too. I've never went to a meeting either.

DS is 13 weeks old and Im trying to loose the baby weight once again. Im doing weight watchers again, but if Im honest am really not happy with my progress at all - I've lost 23lbs in 11 weeks. Which, to me, is rubbish. Last time I could always rely on loosing 2lbs a week - this time round theres been weeks where I havent lost an ounce despite sticking to it to the letter .

I did loose 5lbs this week, but thats only because Im suppose to be on 24 points a day and ate 18 instead all week.

Am desperate to get back "to myself" and back in my clothes. Hate being like this

Even better, myself and dh have been invited to a wedding on 19th June (a work colleague of dh) and simply because of my weight Im dreading it - Im currently 2.5 stone heavier than I was this time last year and Im cringing at the thought of everyone thinking "she piled it all back on fairly quick" So my plan now is to do lipotrim for a couple of weeks to get some weight of fast and then go back to doing ww.

Anyone any experience with LT?

mummytotwins · 03/05/2010 23:23

Had my second wi tonight and lost 3lbs so thats 6.5lbs so far, am really chuffed with that especially as it is my totm. Im feeling really motivated this time too, last time I did it I was very half hearted, I think it was mainly as I didnt really like the class leader but have changed groups now and this one seems more genuine, want to get to 9st so only another 18lbs to go

IzziesMummy · 03/05/2010 23:34

No weigh-in for me today as its bank holiday. But I'm actually quite pleased about that as I've had a bad weekend - Chinese takeaway on Sat night and went to a christening yesterday, so lots of nice nibbly things at the buffet.

Need to get back on track again though, so might go to a different meeting on Wed instead.

Part of my trouble is that I've got so much weight to lose (about 6 stone) that I just can't ever see it happening, which makes me feel a bit "meh" about the whole diet thing.

Think I need a couple of weeks where I show consistent weight loss, so I can start to think my goal is actually realistic.
