February has four complete weeks, so the aim of this challenge is to lose 8lbs.

How you do it is up to you - I'm a low carber.

We don't use our actual weights,(unless you want to,) but index our loss, so if you're starting tomorrow, your start weight is 100. You drop down one for each pound you lose.

I'm signing in from the 3 week challenge, and will report my weight tomorrow - but for the moment:

Weighed in this morning and am the same as last week, which is fine as I am PMT-y and also was DD2's birthday this week so there was Pizza Express and cake.

Thereistheball ? hope you are feeling better today.

BecauseImWorthIt ? I really sounds as if you are in the wars. I hope you can eat a little bit more soon and are feeling better. Your work sounds like a really hard slog. Do you mind me asking what you do? You must be exhausted. I hope you had a lovely day to yourself.

supersalstrawberry ? well done on your loss.

We took the kids to the circus yesterday and was very pleased with myself for declining the yummy smelling popcorn.

bubble2bubble · 19/02/2010 21:18

I have been a complete idiot. Doing so well ,then tonight I ate 2 of DDs kelloggs Oat Bake -disguised as healthy but actually filled with sugar, fat & chocolate chip and of course carbs. And didnt' stop at one, had a another!! Absolutely no idea why I did this - not even tired, hungry, pissed off, just STUPID - and just after my lovely dinner of fish & salad Grrr....really

Back on the wagon tomorrow, and the treadmill I reckon....

mummymels · 19/02/2010 21:49

bubble2bubble - don't worry, it was only a one off. I am sure it shouldn't affect you too much but don't beat yourself up over it.

I'm the same supersal when I'm tired. I tend to eat everything I should't too. I hope you manage to fight that urge.

Don't beat yourselves up, just move on to the next day The whole overeating followed by guilt trip thing is probably why we all ended up here in the first place. Keep thinking positively!!

Hello! Feeling a lot better, and managed to have a lie-in till 10 this morning, which has really helped.

Went to my business partner's DP's 60th surprise party last night (which I really didn't feel like, tbh), and had a fab time. She had organised a local curry house to do the catering, and it was brilliant. I avoided the rice, but did have two samosas and a couple of bites of naan bread , but it was the first time I'd felt properly hungry all week. And I could only eat half my food as I was suddenly too full anyway, so hopefully not too much damage.

I doubt the scales will be that kind to me, but I'm back on the wagon properly now, so hopefully the remaining week of the month will see some progress for me. Then I will start a March challenge and can wipe the slate of February clean!

Mummymels - I'm a qualitative market researcher, so I run focus groups. We work for all kinds of clients, and groups typically are conducted in the North and in the South, so I'm often to be found either on the M1 or on a train up/down the country.

WilfSell · 20/02/2010 20:48

Hi, I didn't weigh in earlier this week because the scales told me I had put on a pound! But I seem to have knocked it off again and have been more controlled in my eating. So hoping to be able to update on Monday with a loss!

Have been very disciplined still - still had NO properly carby/sweet things except wine, and strawberries etc. I think the chromium is really helping me. DS1 and DH (who is still mostly doing it but letting himself hang out with sugar at the weekends...) had some raspberry coulis cheesecake this evening and I really really wanted some. But I am on a roll with weightloss so I decided I could wait. OK I may have to wait six months before I can safely eat things like that but I REALLY want to lose the weight.

A good thing is lots of clothes are feeling looser so am hoping I'll be a size down comfortably soon too. I'm also thinking of investing in a trainer for a few weeks to help me with my awful stomach. The nightmare scenario is losing enough weight to be a smaller size but the ruined muscles prevent me getting into it! Or anyone any advice on this? I have - still- massively separated muscles (GP says only surgery will cure this now...) so I have to be careful.

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/02/2010 21:01

Oooh Wilf! DS1 has had an offer from your place! That's offers from 4 out of his 5 choices so far, and just waiting to hear from his last one.

OP posts:
WilfSell · 20/02/2010 21:05

Good! WE are typically late in the cycle... Will you/he be coming up to any of our visit days? Or is he set on the other place?

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/02/2010 21:10

He's already been on a visit, so I'm not sure. I don't think, tbh, it's at the top of his list, but he shares so little of what he's thinking I don't really have much of a clue.

The one we're waiting to hear from - typically - is his favourite. So no decisions will be made chez BIWI till we know what they are going to say. (I keep muttering an invocation under my breath - unconditional offer from XX, just in case that might help).

OP posts:
thereistheball · 21/02/2010 17:13

Hello!

Congratulations BIWI on getting better, and to your son.
Wilf - good for you for resisting cheesecake and being in this for the long haul. And well done to amazonian for getting off to such a good start.

I've had an Ok couple of weeks - horrid PMT then period meant I stayed the same last week as the week before. Disappointing but hopefully temporary. Since then I've been very good about food despite big temptation, but have been drinking every night, so I'm not anticipating great things this week either, though I'm hopeful. Booze is the thing I find hardest to stay on top of on this WOE: as of tomorrow it's got to be relegated to weekends only again for the forseeable future. Having digestive ishoos today - think I must have eaten something that wasn't quite right - so maybe that will kick-start things again. We shall see.

Have a lovely Sunday evening everyone!

amazonianwoman · 21/02/2010 20:42

Rubbish rubbish weekend

Knew it would be pretty bad because we had 10 friends round for dinner last night - no holding back out & out carby/boozy/fatty/everything night. Didn't really mind that so much, but today I've had 2 big helpings of leftover chocolate cheesecake AND some French bread

Back on the wagon tomorrow...

Wilself - very impressed at your self-control.

BIWI - glad you finally got a lie in.

supersal - 14lbs is still fab - a whole stone! Can't wait for that first milestone.

thereistheball - staying the same is better than putting weight back on

BecauseImWorthIt · 21/02/2010 21:14

Well, AW - sounds like you had a good time!

And tomorrow is another day, as they say. Tomorrow is a sort of re-start for me, as I've been a bit pants this month.

I've already roasted a piece of belly pork, which will be the focus of at least a couple of meals for me next week, and have some celeriac that I will make into a dauphinoise. I've got some sparkling water ready, and am committed to a proper, alcohol free week. I have very little travelling next week, so it will be much easier to control what I'm eating, and therefore to be more disciplined.

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 21/02/2010 23:28

You've just reminded me about the celeriac I bought last week, lurking somewhere in the fridge. No idea what to do with it - do I basically just treat it as a potato, so mash/roast/what else?

Have thrown out the rest of the chocolate cheesecake, DH will be horrified.

BecauseImWorthIt · 21/02/2010 23:45

Slice it really thinly, then in a shallow oven dish, layer it with finely chopped garlic and seasoning. Then pour over some single cream, mixed with a little milk, and bake for around an hour till it's all soft and the liquid has been absorbed. Grate some cheese on to the top and continue to bake until it's browned. Lovely!

Good morning all.
Am weighing in for this week and it's 3lbs. I can definitely thank this thread for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Looks like it's been a bit of a mixed bag for everyone. Hope that this week is better where that's needed, or carries on good if that's the case.

Good job on your first week's loss amazonianwoman. Don't fret about the weekend, it just takes a bit of time to get into the swing of it. I was also forced to throw out an extra frosted vanilla cupcake on Sunday, rather than scoff it, so I feel your pain

BIWI - I very much hope you will be setting up a March challenge as well?

Hope the alcohol-free weeks works for you thereistheball.

I'm a member of a gym and paying out a monthly sub that I'm not using Mostly 'cos I'm too self conscious to go and am scared that people will laugh at me . Have now decided that is stupid as realistically, no-one give a toss and will be concentrating on themselves. So I'm going to give it a go, starting next month. Need to work up my nerve and will stick with Davina at home in the meantime.

amazonianwoman · 22/02/2010 11:00

Thanks BIWI - will try that tonight.

3lbs! Fab quibbler!

Brollyflower · 22/02/2010 14:18

Only 1lb for me this week, but I'm chuffed, as doing any excercise has been impossible over half term and catering for visitors has thrown me out a bit too. Managed my first run in 3 weeks yesterday . I read but don't post much, but having the Feb target is helping .
