February has four complete weeks, so the aim of this challenge is to lose 8lbs.

How you do it is up to you - I'm a low carber.

We don't use our actual weights,(unless you want to,) but index our loss, so if you're starting tomorrow, your start weight is 100. You drop down one for each pound you lose.

I'm signing in from the 3 week challenge, and will report my weight tomorrow - but for the moment:

mummymels - you're doing REALLY well What are you doing?! Sorry, still haven't had time to read thread...

mejon · 10/02/2010 11:05

Not lost anything this week - but not put it on either. Had a few relapses last week as we ended up travelling all day Thursday and had a pizza when we finally got home.... followed by raspberry panacotta . Being better behaved this week (also a week since coil was removed).

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 10/02/2010 11:08

Is it too late to join?
I feel I need some more motivation. Life is a bit crap and I keep grazing in the fridge.
I did not hit my birthday goal so am annoyed at that too.
I am trying to lose weight slowly this time (unlike the car crash that was the last attempt at weight loss).
I've dropped 32kg in 18 months and have to lose 20kg or so more.

joe999 · 10/02/2010 16:57

Morning all. Am feeling sluggish and a bit demoralised this morning, possibly related to two vodka and sodas last night. Need to get up and do something. Think I'll take my daughter for a play in the snow outside.

B = parma ham, half a mozzarella with olive oil (DH bought half fat mozz by accident so am topping up the fat content) with 4 cherry tomatoes and half an avocado.
L = burger with trimmings - bacon, cheese, mushrooms, salad
S = veal escalopes with walnut and blue cheese butter and broccoli. Cheese.

theQuibbler · 11/02/2010 10:43

Talking about obesity in the office?.

?Well, they?re just disgusting - if you?re fat and you have any shred of self respect, then you would just eat properly and do some exercise.

This was said, very loudly, by tall thin woman sat on the next desk in my office, and I couldn?t help feeling it was directed at me. (Which, to be fair, it probably was, as she?s a bit of a cow).

Feeling miserable and a bit tearful now ? I shouldn?t let it get to me, but I have. And I was feeling quite positive this morning as the numbers are going down. I?m very overweight, so it doesn?t show that much, but I can see it a bit and I?ve been diligent about exercising and am definitely feeling fitter.

Am torn between not wanting to eat anything ever again (possibly not a sustainable option) and stuffing my face with crisps (both self-loathing and self-defeating).

So I will take the middle option. Have a nice low carby lunch, a walk around the park and tell myself that I am at least trying to get this under control. Sticks and stones eh?

shortandsweet2 · 11/02/2010 12:16

Quib - next time say 'yes but honey I can lose the weight, what can you do about your face' with a sweet smile

Don't let her get to you, like you say she is a COW!! don't let a person who means sweet FA too you get you down.

thereistheball · 11/02/2010 12:39

Oh the cow. Sorry to hear you have to put up with this sort of prejudice.

If I were you I'd have a virtuous and delicious low-carb lunch then stomp round the park double-time cursing her name, while remembering Winston Churchill's comment on being accused of being drunk by a woman at a dinner party: he said "Yes Madam, I am drunk, but you are ugly and in the morning I shall be sober."

thereistheball · 11/02/2010 12:41

haha - hadn't read Shortandsweet's reply. Great minds think alike, eh?

theQuibbler · 11/02/2010 14:00

Thanks, you made me smile. I ate my lunch, went for a walk and do feel better now. You're right, no need to let that sort of unkind attitude get to me.

And anyway, I was reading the section in the Idiot Proof diet last night about liking yourself as you're losing weight and not hiding away.

So, today I put on a Monsoon dress that I've not worn because it's kneelength, and has a print on it (very unlike me). I bought it feeling adventurous but haven't really dared put it on. I put my hair up, and also put on a tiny bit of makeup (don't usually bother) and three people, today, have told me variations on "you look nice today, QB", so I shall concentrate on that and ignore her mean-sprited nature. (Feeling braver.)

bubble2bubble · 11/02/2010 14:11

well done Quibbler - don't let her get to you!
And keep reading India & Neris they definately keep you in the right frame of mind My copy is permanently lying about in th kitchen..
Hang in there!

Hi everyone

Sorry I've not been on for a couple of days. Life hectic as usual and DS was vomiting today. Lovely!

amazonianwoman - Thanks. Doing Go Lower.

mejon - main thing is that you didn't put on. Good luck this week.

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell - Of course there is room for you. The more people to keep us all motivated the better. I think you are doing brilliantly. You have done so well so far and it sounds as if you have lots of other stuff going on at the moment so don't beat yourself up.

joe999 - well done on your loss.

supersalstrawberry - Mmm cauliflower rice sounds lovely. I'd be interested to know what it was like. Your meal tonight sounds lovely although I have to admit I would leave out the fish. I know fish is very good for you but I just can't eat it. very bad of me! Although I do like salmon and tuna but no other fish.

thereistheball - Hope you felt better as the day went on.

theQuibbler - Oh no, what horrible people you work with. I'm sorry you had to hear the cows horrible conversation. You are a much better person than those narrow minded girls. Well done though on your great attitude, just shows you that there are some nice people around noticing your lovely dress.

thereistheball · 12/02/2010 12:13

Supersal - that sounds delicious, and you have solved my 'what's for dinner tomorrow' dilemma. Thanks very much!

MM - hi! Thanks for asking. I actually finished the day feeling fantastic because I did a 30 minute Davina workout. May not sound like much but I hurt my leg last year and am still having physio on it, so have been unable to exercise since last summer apart from moderate amounts of walking. Tried the first session on the DVD last week and couldn't do it, so was really down in the dumps about ever getting stronger and fitter. But this one (cardiobox) was ace and didn't need much adaptation, and I got my heart pumping and properly sweaty for the first time in months. And had dropped a pound this morning. Yay!

(Obv ache all over today though :-)

Speaking of today: bacon and eggs; taramasalata and crudites (only 1% bread); veal with blue cheese and walnut butter (was going to have this last night but had chorizo, celeriac and broccoli instead) and green beans.

TheFirstLady · 12/02/2010 13:50

Quibbler - at your colleague. I'd rather be the size I am and a decent human being than skinny with a personality like that. Well done for rising above it.
I've lost 3lb this week and today I am wearing some trousers that didn't do up a couple of months ago. I've decided to change my status to reflect all the weight I've lost since I started dieting on Nov 1, rather than just this month's total - I thought it would give me a boost to see how far I've come - even though there is still a long way to go. thereistheball - that's brilliant about the Davina DVD. Your knee must really be improving now which is great news. Mmx walnut butter, I've not heard of that before but it sounds lovely.

TheFirstLady - that's great news on the trousers and brilliant weight loss this week.

Supersal!!! Put it behind you, drink extra water today, and carry on. Everybody slips up sometimes, the key is not to let one slip make you give up completely. You have lost 16lb so far, which is great. Don't throw it all away.

MM - Walnut butter is just butter with walnuts chopped into it, and blue cheese. Delicious!

Exercise cancelled today due to hangover. Will be going for a stroll later though.

Brollyflower · 13/02/2010 09:49

it's my weigh in day today, and I'm so pleased that rather than wait until Mon to report I'm going to tell you all today. I've lost 3lb .

OK I've eaten even more since I decided to go on a diet

Lots of you seem to be doing low carb - talk me through it! Please! Are you cutting out virtually all carbs a la Atkins? Do you have to count your carb intake?

Please enlighten me

HinnyPet · 14/02/2010 01:07

Not cutting out all carbs, nope!
Basically I just don't eat bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and sugar.
I still drink alcohol but only weekly, and I have a treat once in a while, like a cadbury's chocolate mousse!
I also eat pistachios and packs of ham, cooked chicken, I also eat yummy cheese grated on top of things like bolognese sauce and I have that with crunchy celery and lettuce drizzled with olive oil, vinegar, lime juice and fresh black pepper.
I went to a party tonight and although there were loads of sandwiches, quiches, spring rolls etc (carby things) there was also mini sausages, veg sticks and coleslaw and cheesey dips, this was washed down with vodka and diet coke!!!
