As promised here is the thread. Let's psyche ourselves up to do it this time.

Let's weigh next week. I think SL did the lovely chart last time but fear she may actually have lost her weight for good, so perhaps we can just post weights, losses, recipes etc.

Great to see you, my fellow porkers . Nice to know I am not the only one still fat.

I lost nothing this week. Didn't put on either. But it is that time of the month. I am expecting to have put on next week as I can't be bothered at. AF is still here, the whole job thing and I have a sore throat. I just want to eat rubbish.

daisydora · 21/01/2010 19:40

Lokks like i have put 3lb on

Although i haven't been that good, i have done plenty of exercise. Syb, I will be making lots of soup this weekend, as last time I lost weight it was the most low-cal thing that filled me up and helped me lose.

Kayzr · 21/01/2010 19:49

Does anyone have a nice soup recipe? I've neverade soup before.

TheInvisibleHand · 22/01/2010 09:41

Oh well, best I can say is that I am still pretty much the same as i was. But that's not too terrible given that I was on holiday at a wedding where all we did was go from meal to meal...

Veggiemummy · 23/01/2010 20:47

Kayz I don't really follow recipes for soup I usually just fry some onions and garlic put some water and stock powder in 500-1000 ml depending on how much I'm making and add the stock powder according to it's directions (I use marigold brand but any will do). Then I add some red split lentil for protein and then that's a base. From there add what you fancy. Sometimes I put orange veggies in like carrots pumkin and sweet potato once cook just blend it all together, you can add some praprika and a tin of mixed beans to make it a spicy bean soup. You can use any veg that you like really. A nice simple one that DS1 likes is just carrots with the soup base cook then whizz it. just before you serve it squeeze an orange into it mixx it in and it gives it a subtle sweetness and extra vit C. Celery is another good thing to add and of course root veggies are always great. If you like herbs pop some coriander or basil in, as well as parsley. Oh one soup I do follow a recipe for is watercress and potato. 100g of watercress, 3 medium sized potatoes add potatoes chopped up to the stock base (minus the lentils) and when they are soft add the watercress, whizz it up and you have a super nutritious soup.

Veggiemummy · 23/01/2010 20:56

Gosh I did go on a bit. I make a lot of soup, it about the only way I can get a decent amount of veg into DS1. I tell him it's made of aliens and the name of the soup depends on the colour of the 'Aliens' I used, ie orange Alien soup, green alien soup, red Alien etc.

Kayzr · 24/01/2010 10:19

I am about to go for a run. I am doing that couch to 5k, so today is day 1.

I think I might keel over halfway through the run.

sybilfaulty · 26/01/2010 17:06

ANother 2lbs off here, but it's been hard going this week.

Hope everyone else is OK and doing well

OP posts:
Kayzr · 26/01/2010 18:31

I have lost nothing!!! Though I had a really crappy week last week so I wasn't expecting a loss.

daisydora · 27/01/2010 17:43

Haven't got weighed, as I have no scales and parents are away and I normally use theirs!! I really must by my own, however I doubt i have lost anything...I'm simply not trying hard enough.

However, I was stopped in Tesco earlier by an old friend who I've not seen in about 4 months who said I looked really thin. Lets hope she had her contact lenses in......

Veggiemummy · 27/01/2010 22:09

Hooray 70.6kg the cycling is really paying off, haven't had much chance to run so better get onto that but have been doing some longer rides when DS2 is due his sleep so he sleeps in the bike trailor, and while my friend has been here we've been cycling a bit. Have been trying to reduce the size of my evening meals too, but that doesn't always happen. Anyway I need to keep at it, I'm 600grams from not being over weight anymore!

LadyThompson · 31/01/2010 21:21

I weighed myself on Thursday (not Wednesday as I was still at Mum's) and I was 79.5, so down a tiny bit more.

Come on girls, keep going - every little helps! It all mounts up eventually.

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 07:58

Morning!!

I am now 89kg!! I am under 90kg for the first time in years! I am still about 10kg heavier than everyone else though.

LadyThompson · 01/02/2010 09:04

Kayz - that is utterly brilliant. You have done really, really well. Keep it up! What have you been doing to lose the weight?

I have been watching what I eat and barely drinking (just as well, seeing as I am up the duff) but I was breaking down my day into sleep, exercise and being sedentary and have realised that although I do a bit of exercise every day, it isn't really enough. I still haven't bought that £24.99 Argos stepper but will do so today as that's something I can easily do at home.

Kayzr · 01/02/2010 09:05

I am doing weight watchers. I exercise occasionally but I haven't at all this week as I have had this cold. Maybe it is the cold as all I have wanted to eat is soup as it doesn't hurt my throat.

Veggiemummy · 01/02/2010 17:47

Oh Kayz poor you on the cold but hooray onnthe weight, well done, it's just a number but it really makes such a difference when you break into the next decade down.

Lady if you are serious about watching your weight during the pregnancy you can talk to your obs&gynae about it. There is actually a weight gain regime you can follow to help make sure you do it safely. Also didn't someone say you can do weight watchers while pregers.

Oops no idea what happened there?

sybilfaulty · 02/02/2010 22:39

Another lb off here, so 9 in total since Jan. Am still a lardy old ball though, so there's plenty to go. Went swimming tonight, so am a chlorine scented lard ball now.

Hello Veggie, you gorgeous thing, you, well done on the fighting weight.

LadyT, I am not really the person to ask about weight gain in pg as I have put on a minimum of 3 st each time (and I reckon close to 4.5 stone with the young fellow) but I do have friends who managed to keep it in some sort of check. The trick seems to be to have treats etc, but in moderation. So have 2 biscuits rather than the whole packet, which is alas what I did. I really did eat for England and it showed. Oops. When I saw you the week before you had O you looked wonderful and very foxy even at 38 weeks so am confident you will be fab all through this preg as well.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 03/02/2010 11:53

You are too kind, Sybs, really. I think 9lb is brilliant by the way.

I don't even have a sweet tooth so biscuits aren't going to be a problem for me, but I am going to put on as little in the first trimester as I can muster (I am hoping for no weight gain but that may be unrealistic). I will indeed talk to my Obs about it and see if I am allowed to use a few fat reserves as long as I still eat healthily.

Kayzr · 03/02/2010 12:53

A lb off here too. I wish it would come of a bit quicker.

sybilfaulty · 03/02/2010 13:33

Well done Kayz! Slow weight loss likely to be lasting though so nil desperandum.

LadyT, I forgot you didn't like chocolate etc. It must be difficult to avoid the cheese though if you are veg. I was so hungry when pg after the first bit that I could have eaten a horse. Can you fill up on beans and pulses? They are not too lardy are they?

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 03/02/2010 13:52

9lb since Jan Sybs that's amazing that's less than a month isn't it? We started after the 6th didn't we? Well done.

Very excited today, finally after all this time, including just before I concieved DS2 I am actually officially not overweight! I've dropped under 70kg to 69.3! Now it is in part due to being sick this past week and DS2 drinking like a newborn while he was unwell but if ok careful I think I can stay under. Still wanting to get to 65 though.

Kayz you still under 90 still so chin up sweetie, and Sybs is right down is better than up. How is the running going? I wish the weather was nicer.

Kayzr · 03/02/2010 13:55

The running isn't going at all. We've had more snow and it is still pretty icy out there.

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 09:39

Forgot to say - I am still at 79.5, as at last week, but happy enough with that, all things considered...
