As promised here is the thread. Let's psyche ourselves up to do it this time.

Let's weigh next week. I think SL did the lovely chart last time but fear she may actually have lost her weight for good, so perhaps we can just post weights, losses, recipes etc.

Great to see you, my fellow porkers . Nice to know I am not the only one still fat.

oh hi there, lovely turniphead, so great to see you! and you are the second deeply sensible person who has recommended that book to me in the past couple of months - golly! i got it off amazon, but the cd was missing - i haven't even opened it yet. must do so.

well done, Kayz - that is fantastic - really good weightloss, especially at the beginning of a session (i presume). who knows what the scales will say tomorrow - dh, while poorly, still knows how to make a mammoth and gorgeous lamb stew wiht mashed potatoes. only one helping, though, so can't be that bad??? we'll see.

invis - do what you can, honey, but make sure you enjoy yourself. you can always come back with avengeance! have a wonderful time.

Kayzr · 11/01/2010 21:45

I got the Paul Mckenna book but I didn't like it. Nothing seemed to change for me. I did it for 2 months and put a stone on. Luckily I only got the book from the library so I didn't spend money on it.

Maybe it was because I always slept through the cd

LadyThompson · 11/01/2010 23:10

I don't even want to weigh myself on Wednesday and it's only week 1. I have one last chance tomorrow to eat gruel.

Veggiemummy · 12/01/2010 09:20

Hello ladies have been in the desert with this dodgy Internet access so haven't been checking in but I did weigh myself on weds and am now up to 72.5kg so up a kg from my starting weight! Bugger! However, as proof that this thread helps I am currently having my morning coffee without my usual biscuit. I've gotten into quite a bad habit these days of having something sweet (or ten) with my coffee. Reading what you have all been eating gave me the bump I needed to start really cutting back on the sugary treats.

Coming to this country has been a nightmare for my sweet tooth so I have told myself if I don't cut back I have to go cold turkey as I think I hand a serious sugar addiction. Lady that sugar/carb cut back diet you were talking about is perfect for getting our bodies off sugar dependance esp simple sugars. However, I'm with you on the 8 weeks being difficult maybe you would have more luck if you did it in 2 week chunks, see how you are after 2 weeks if you want to continue. The Atkins/south beach diet type no carb diets work on the premise that you stop carbs for 2 weeks to break the sugar addiction then slowly reintroduce them. I really should do sometimg like that but just don't know if I have the strength at the moment.

Kayz what Lady said is true, you can lose weight but we can't get younger. One thing I have been thinking about you though is, have you had your thyroid checked? You often say you get headaches and are often quite tired. I remember NJAN mentioned something about thyroid going weird after pregnancy and for some women it doesn't get better. It can also effect weight. Though if you are doing 30 mins on the Wii you probably have got enough energy.

I went for a run the other day of 1hr15mins. I didn't mean to run that long but I got really badly lost in one of the forest park things they have in the city here. It was so cold I had to keep running to stay warm until I found my way home.

Kayzr · 12/01/2010 15:31

I've had my thyroid checked twice now due to the tiredness. I cut out wheat for a week and dairy as being intolerent(sp) can cause tiredness and it has made no difference.

I must be someone who is always exhausted.

sybilfaulty · 13/01/2010 07:48

2 measley pounds off here. I'd forgotten how hard it is to lose weight when you don't have a wee baby hoovering off lbs in breast milk.

Right, really good and no weekday cheerfulness for me.

OP posts:
Kayzr · 13/01/2010 08:05

I am still 14st 11lb, so I have lost 4lbs since Wednesday.

Syb Any weight loss is a good weight loss!!!

LadyThompson · 13/01/2010 10:15

2lbs is good!

And well done Kayz, that's brilliant.

I have managed to put on weight - flamin' marvellous - I am now 80.7. In one week, given that I was 80.1 last Weds, my weight has fluctuated between 79.6 and 81.7, because I have weighed myself every day out of interest. That's a fluctuation of over 2kg, ie getting on for 5lb.

Anyway, the cheerfulness has got to go and I have got to do more exercise, simple as

waitinggirl · 13/01/2010 21:06

still at 14 stone, so that is a strangely collossal 7 lbs in one week. i haven't touched a drop of alcohol, been ridiculously abstemious, hungry, and too busy to eat (oh, and had flu or something horrid for 2 days). not expecting much of next week as have just had a glass of wine, and a delicious fry up for supper. onwards and downwards on the scales, though, to everyone.

sybilfaulty · 13/01/2010 22:30

Respect to you WG, half a stone is SERIOUSLY impressive

Can I just share a fabby recipe that a mate gave me today? I have just made it and it is delicious beyond words, virtually calorie free and very warming in the cold.

Take 2 onions and chop, then fry in spray on oil so no calories to add. Then add i butternut squash chopped into 2 inch pieces, cover with stock (from a cube - about 1.5l did me) and lots of black pepper, then simmer til squash is soft. Whizz in liquidiser or with dildo blender and - hey poncho - the most wonderful, velvety smooth, tasty soup. Can add curry powder or thyme to the onions and / or swirl in some nat yoghurt, tho it doesn't really need it. Am so pleased with it as I love soup.

Am still fat, but full of soup and baked potato fat, so at least I am happy

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 13/01/2010 23:01

Blimey WG!

Syb, that soup sounds nice. Those oil sprays are great.

daisydora · 15/01/2010 11:11

Here you are, right not been weighed as have been too busy but doubt i have lost anything! Will try and get on some scales over the weekend. Doesn't help with all this snow and ice as I can't get out for a run, and that is about the only exercise I do....

sybilfaulty · 18/01/2010 19:32

IS there anyone there?! I am going to WW tomorrow and have been vaguely good so far, even quite light ont eh booze.

Bugger, M crying, back shortly

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 19/01/2010 21:56

I will post tomorrow morning when have weighed self...I've been saintly this week so if I'm not down from 80.7 there will be much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.

LadyThompson · 20/01/2010 09:24

OK, 79.8

I am hoping that I can stay below 80 for good now.

waitinggirl · 20/01/2010 11:09

well done ladyt - that is great. keep below 80 - yay!

not a single jot off this week. still at 14 stone. oh well. haven't been as vigilant this week and madam is being a right old pain in the arse, so unfortunately compensating with food. and cheefulness. ugh.

daisydora · 20/01/2010 17:11

Not weighed myself yet - i have no scales so need to use my mums, which i will do tomorrow and report back!

However, i have been for a run 3 times so fingers crossed!!!

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2010 18:40

Hooray Lady welcome to the 70's!!!!

Well I've managed to weigh in at 71.6 today not sure how, DH said he thought I was being more careful with my eating however I have been partaking of a generous helping of Dutch pancakes after tea. I have however, stopped taking a biscuit with my coffee, I've not been to any cafes lately so no cheeky cakes. I have also had less for breakfast and lunch lately, I still eat both but just smaller helpings. But I think the biggest thing is the less snacks and bikkies. Oh and cycling to DS1's school twice everyday.

waitinggirl · 20/01/2010 20:22

oh, blinking blonkning - cheerfulness, THREE helpings of spaghetti bolognese AND i put grated cheese on it. wagon? where? think i must have fallen off. ugh ugh and treble ugh.

Veggiemummy · 20/01/2010 22:07

I think you've got a good excuse love, sometimes you have to go easy on yourself. How about just balance it out tomorrow.

LadyThompson · 20/01/2010 22:07

Well I had a port earlier AND it was about 4pm. And a small glass of orange juice, my sworn sugary enemy.

MUST stay in the seventies so back on the gruel tomorrow....

sybilfaulty · 20/01/2010 22:53

Veggie, am so glad to see you. I always think of you as a sporty, cycling type person, so you inspire and comfort me simultaneously.

LadyT, you gorgeous girl you, well done on the nearly kg, that is 2lb in my money which is wonderful. Port sounds wonderful, orange juice less so

WG, you did so brilliantly last week that your body is probably just resting. Besides, you haven't had the easiest week so be kind to yourself. And spag bol is of course God's own food. Yum yum.

Daisy, your running puts me to shame. I don't know how you fit it in.

I lost 4lb at fatties' club this week, but tonight I had wine for supper. Oops. Not that much wine, but wine all the same. Must. Try. Harder

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 20/01/2010 22:56

4lb??? Jeepers, Syb, well done. What have you been living on? Can I tell you that apart from Friday evening when I had dinner at friends', I had veggies only for supper every evening.

sybilfaulty · 20/01/2010 23:10

Had lots of soup. So much soup. Bit sick of it now, but I find hot food more satisfying than cold, so the dreaded soup hits the spot at lunch. I've stopped planing off chunks of cheese for me when I give it to the kids as well.

It's not easy being good, esp when you are a piglet like me. I do so love food and wine. Have felt hunger last week for the first time in months. It can only be a good thing.

Sympathies on the veggies. You have lost 2lb though which is no mean feat. Can you do interesting things with lentils and chick peas for bulk?

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 20/01/2010 23:12

Well, I could, but even they are too calorific. I have to go really lo cal to lose anything, it seems. Not giving up though!
