As promised here is the thread. Let's psyche ourselves up to do it this time.

Let's weigh next week. I think SL did the lovely chart last time but fear she may actually have lost her weight for good, so perhaps we can just post weights, losses, recipes etc.

Great to see you, my fellow porkers . Nice to know I am not the only one still fat.

Sorry, my sister rang.

Kayz, I am sure you are not the biggest person on MN and as you are young, you will get it off quickly. I remember last time we did this that you knocked off a stone really quickly whilst the rest of us were losing a lb here and there. Besides, if you tell yourself that this is the worst it's going to be, as next week you will be lighter, then it's not that bad. We are all bigger than we would like to be but we are good fun and doing something about it so it will be OK

LadyT, Invis, thanks for posting and making me feel marginally better. At least when it is so cold everyone is swathed in so many layers that you can't see the worst of it.

Am going to have to walk to nursery now to get the other 2. My work is closed til monday and apparently may not open then if there is more snow over the weekend. Tempting though it is to sit at home and eat, I shall walk bracingly in the cold.

Stay warm, my darlings.

Righto Ladies I am 12st 11lb, which means i have put 11ib on since being at WW last year. This bloody weather doesn't help with the running either.

I am determined that by Easter, I will be a svelteish type thing.

Kayz, I bet you are nowhere near the biggest on MN, but by far one of the nicest

Come on ladies we can do this

LadyThompson · 06/01/2010 16:27

We can! Although I am breaking my rule slightly as DP is just mulling some wine but I am only going to have a very light supper and I have just had a walk in the snow when what I actually wanted to do was sit on the sofa...

I may even go on the rower later to atone for the mulled wine.

Well done with the pub lunch, Syb, that was v restrained.

waitinggirl · 06/01/2010 19:51

ok. went on scales. 14 1/2 stone. about 93kg. i am 5ft 10. ugh. at my wedding 3 years ago i was 11 stone 11 (with help from ww and lots of running).

i will be happy at 12 and a half stone, so i'm up for losing 2 stone. i think that is about 13kg.

dh and i have been eating healthily today and yesterday - we've started menu planning - and hopefully that works.

maybe we can suggest recipes/menu ideas for eachother? my favourite easy and not too calorific one is (not for the veggies, i'm afraid) - get two chicken thighs (or legs or breasts), take the skin off, score them nearly to the bone, baste with mango chutney (sainsburys do a good spicy one), pop in oven for about an hour (medium hot - about gas mark 6 - i'm not v precise). you can put some sliced sweet potato or butternut squash with them (i sprinkle some thai 7 spice on them). 20 mins before the end of cooking, pop some cherry tomatos in with them to roast. serve everything on a bed of fresh spinach. bingo. healthy, tasty, yummy.

sybilfaulty · 06/01/2010 20:38

Good to see you WG. Recipes a good idea.

Non veg - pork in creamy sauce. Buy pork fillet / tenderloin as v low fat. Chop and fry onion and leek if there is one. Fry in spray on oil stuff which is point free. Flash fry pork to seal, then add tbsp of dijon mustard, tbsp half fat creme fraiche and half a cup of apple juice. Simmer for 1/2 hour til pork tender and everything caramelised and lovely. Serve with potatoes and green veggies - beans are great.

Veggie - pasta in goat sauce. Cook pasta and chop tomatoes, roasted peppers from a jar, spring onions and a round piece of soft goat's cheese. When pasta done, drain and throw ingredients into saucepan. Put pasta on top and stir to melt cheese and make sauce. Sprinkle some chilli flakes if you like it. Cheese is of course v high in cals but you don't need much, there are lots of veggies and it's great comfort food. Serve with huge salad.

M still crying. Back later.

syb - yum!

LadyThompson · 06/01/2010 21:48

That all sounds very nice but I have to eat virtually nothing before I lose any weight. Had two Quorn frankfurters for supper and huge plate of cabbage. Am now about to have a very large glass of water

TheInvisibleHand · 06/01/2010 23:58

The veggie thing makes it hard. I have been/sort of am not very convincing veggie and its really hard to eat well in this kind of weather without spending ages cooking - do find myself resorting to the carb and cheese laden stuff, which is deff not the idea. The solution to dodgy veg box contents always seem to involve something deeply unhealthy...

Sorry, just read that back, sounds like I am making my excuses already. No reason to be rubbish. I think it will be soup later this week - will investigate box contents!

sybilfaulty · 07/01/2010 20:01

AM really struggling. DD2 been vile all afternoon, we are under house arrest becauseof snow apart from the school run which is virtually a bobsleigh run because of the ice. Need wine. And cheese. This is not good on day 2.

How is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
waitinggirl · 07/01/2010 20:31

syb - could you satisfy your craving with an oatcake and cottage cheese? or something else?

i get mad cravings for things, and what i've learned is that it's no good pretending i don't need to eat something, but i just change what it is that i eat - i try to eat something else non-fattening. it's blinking annoying at the time, but once the food's down, 9 times out of 10, the craving goes. i keep cherry tomatoes, oatcakes and cottage cheese in the house for exactly this purpose when i'm trying to lose weight. you can do it, girl, you can!!!

i had the most virtuous lunch... two pieces of wholemeal toast with a sliced tomato on it - drizzled some olive oil over it and salt and pepper. needless to say i have had a couple of oatcakes and some cottage cheese since then (oh, and also some sultanas - no idea how fattening they are, but they are moreish and surely can't be that bad...???)

we are now, however, waiting for our sausages for supper. not the greatest supper, but not that bad, either, i hope

LadyThompson · 07/01/2010 21:05

Syb - I have done well on the food today but have been unable to resist (one small) glass of wine. Have wine or cheese - just a tiny amount. Don't worry.

sybilfaulty · 07/01/2010 22:34

THanks girl, I feel better now. Had some matzo crackers for crunch and a (very small and boring) glass of red. Makes me realise how much I have poured down my neck when I sipped my thimble.

Can we let things go at the weekend? Well, just be a bit more relaxed? Don't want to undo the good work, if indeed there is any to be undone.

OP posts:
sybilfaulty · 07/01/2010 22:35

Sorry, that was meant to say "thanks, girls". I am suffering from sticky keys. Too many small people stroking my beloved laptop.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 08/01/2010 00:08

I think thimbly amounts of wine are good. Well, if I tell myself I can only have one glass I do savour it and really enjoy it more. If I then feel like more, if I really MUST I pour myself about ONE SIP then make a hot drink instead. Mmm, well, it works for me...As for snacking, I have lots of healthy stuff in ready and am only allowed that.

I think weekend treats are not merely allowed but actually necessary, but in moderation (says she - who is as fat as a rat )

Kayzr · 09/01/2010 07:46

My Wii Fit Plus game arrived yesterday so I must have a go on it today. It has a baby bit on it so you can weigh your children so I might see how much the boys weigh.

waitinggirl · 10/01/2010 10:52

have been terribly good for a whole week now (no cheese, no alcohol, no second helpings, no snacks), as well as suffering from a flu thing and just weighed myself, even though it's not wednesday... i appear now to be 14 stone. i appear to have lost a whole 7 pounds in 4 days. now, i know that can't be right, but GOSH!!! i also know that isn't particularly healthy, but mighty pleasing, nonetheless. hope everyone else is managing to keep it up.

LadyThompson · 10/01/2010 11:06

Half a stone? Fantastic work!

Well, I have been a bit rubbish so have got a lot of ground to make up bef Weds

sybilfaulty · 10/01/2010 14:43

WG, that is fantastic! Go you! SOrry you are not feeling well, but clearly you have been most abstemious as well, so I am glad it is paying off.

Not doing too badly here after a slightly lushola Friday night. Had fruit yest, roast lamb and lots of veg for lunch and soup for supper. Today, leftover soup, more fruit and leftover lamb for supper. Am about to make huge ratatouille to go with the eftover lamb.

Trying to shake my booty on the ice pshing the HUGE double buggy but children finding it too cold and are ensconced in front of Sound of Music on sofa. Am also making some carrot muffins for the school run. Do you think that they might count as one of my 5 a day?

Where is Veggie - I mean generally rather than on fatties thread? Hope you are OK and lurking my darling....

sybilfaulty · 10/01/2010 14:45

Courage and faith, LadyT, courage and faith. Wed is still 2.5 days away, so a dent can be made. Sending warmth and love to you in mustard land. What an exotic trip!

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 15:10

I've just done 30 minutes on the Wii Fit. I am exhausted now.

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 15:11

Sorry meant to say WELL DONE WG!!!!!

waitinggirl · 10/01/2010 20:10

thanking you all, but my i'm feeling hungry...

Kayzr · 11/01/2010 10:49

Today is my weight watchers weigh in day and I have lost 4lb!!

TheInvisibleHand · 11/01/2010 15:43

Wow - well done WG and Kayz! I've lost about - 0.5kg, so not really so impressive and am making my excuses for next week now, as a holiday to go to my brother's wedding is not going to do anything for good eating and drinking habits, but once I am back....

Turniphead1 · 11/01/2010 15:58

Hi all. Can I join. Have been universally unable to keep up with the main thread...maybe this will be more manageable. Also need to find the meet up thread for London if haven't missed it...

I nearly got to my target weight by end of last year due to...wait for it you sceptics...Paul McKenna Think yourself Thin. I find the ethos (which isn't ...look into my eyes, not around my eyes...etc) very good. Ie that you change your eating habits and eat ONLY when you are hungry. Stop when you are full but that you can eat what you want (subject to the above). There is a hypnosis CD which does help and various other tricks but I really would recommend (having done every other weightloss programme in the book). There is a massive feeling of liberation and I ended up gradually losing a pound or two every week.

Feel slightly off the bandwagon at end of the year due to operation and now slightly worried about the effects of the Mirena coil (but determined not to use that as an excuse...). Anyway, will be good to have company trying to get back into clothese with waistbands. Well done on everyones efforts - even if WG you had to be very poorly!
