am indicisive, unsure of which diet is for me, as I you do sometimes wonder about the motives behind the whole industry.

Anyway, this thread is for support through the tough times, celebrations of the good times, virtual (and not so virtual) wine and chocolate when the situation warrants it (or not). Everything you need from a slimming club and more, but without the rules, disapproval, brainwashing, five quid a week, passwords etc...

No need to disclose any personal info, you can weigh-in or not. Up to you.

Apologies to Van the Man, but it just popped into my head... Hoping to welcome old and new friends. See you on the 2nd!

Happy New Year

Hope the funeral went well - not a day for dieting.

I somehow managed a 2lb loss this week - which is great but I am still 1lb heavier than the begining of January! WIll get that off this week though!

I got some of the Waitrose Morocan chicken soup that you mentioned angelene and it is fab! Pricey on the face of it but full of chicken and a lovely taste - so a good buy really as I got two lunches out of it. I agree too that you dont need bread with it! I hope my Mums local waitrose has it otherwise I will be spending a fortune with Ocado to get it delivered!

How is life with Ria and Feedthegoat - still out there??

Riapwhatyousow · 24/02/2010 23:43

life seriously shit here, so diet a bit rubbish, and food diary seriously -- , though nurse will get a true idea of my ability to cope with food!

Went to a "power chi yoga" class yesterday. I really enjoyed it (though I know I've done it today), I may well pay upfront for the rest of the term next week!!!

Riapwhatyousow · 24/02/2010 23:48

lots of walking too as DH crashed the car at the weekend (snow, ice, country hedges; possible write-off, lots of others too so no courtesy car)

and DS1s laptop (which we are using cos the PC is buggered and DH is "too busy" to fix it) has a virus, so crashes often (hence multiple posts to get them in before it goes haywire)

Riapwhatyousow · 24/02/2010 23:50

well done on loss andi

hope you are OK angelene. My gran passed away when DS2 was tiny. No doubt if she was still here she would pass comment on my current weight

angelene · 27/02/2010 23:06

Hi all

Thanks for your messages. The funeral was really hard but afterwards I've felt far more settled.

Lost another pound this week which is OK having had a couple of big meals. Really going to work hard on the food side from now because the doctor's advised me not to run because of my stupid knees . It's going to be really difficult to find something that's as easily accessible and effective as running, so I'm going to have to be really strict on the food.

Anyway, got my dress for Australia, it was great to go shopping and be able to fit into stuff rather than feeling demoralised.

Ria, sorry life is so shit for you, it does sound like one thing after another which really does get you down doesn't it? Hopefully there'll be some good news round the corner for you.

Andi - glad you liked the soup!

andirobobo · 05/03/2010 22:17

Maybe you could try power walking - should be softer on the knees!

I managed 1/2 a lb loss this week - which is ok for that time of the month. Must try harder this week.

Ria - how are things going?

angelene · 06/03/2010 21:28

Well done andi.

Weighed myself again this morning and I'm pleased to say that I've now lost a whole stone in total

Feel really pleased, I've got another half stone to go before I'm in the 'healthy' BMI category but I'm chuffed I've got this far. Thanks to you all for your support!

Ria, feedthegoat - how are you doing?

Riapwhatyousow · 08/03/2010 15:12

well done andi and angelene.

I lost 5lb last week!! Combination diet of WW and DH leaving me

needless to say am not sticking to any diet as not eating a great deal.

good luck for the coming week.

andirobobo · 08/03/2010 20:30

Oh Ria - really sorry to hear that about yur DH - without wishing to pry, was it sudden or been on the cards for a while? I am not sure quite what to say - not very wise with the words. Definately not the best way to loose weight, but stress can be a funny thing on the body. Hope you can work things out and get your life back on an even keel. I hope you can stick with us even if not able to diet properly - as it is not the be all and end all of life.

Angelene - well done = a stone - WOW! I am soooo jealous but then you have worked for it!

Sicky sick house here - started with DS (3), then DD and DH two days later. Me here is feeling queasy all the time so on reduced rations - hope that shifts a few pounds!!

Waves and settles down near the back.

angelene · 11/03/2010 22:31

Oh Ria, so sorry to hear that, you poor poor thing. It must be so hard to deal with.

Sending you lots of good wishes and very definitely breaking out the virtual chocolate and wine xxx

Riapentatleisure · 21/03/2010 21:35

hi all, and thanks

hope you are illness-free now andi.

weighed in this week at the same as last week. Have lost 9lb. Not bad to say this week has involved a little chocolate and lots of crusty bread as TOTM. Just had some wine tonight (been a long day), but other than today, and finishing off the half bottle that was still in the fridge, I am off the booze. Even on Friday (my birthday) I bought myself a cheap bottle of white, and a tiny bottle of pink fizz for my birthday treat, and I just couldn't face it. Not a bad thing I suppose

Have been doing manic housework/spring cleaning, but that is getting a bit boring now, so I am planning to do a bit more walking by tagging a bit on to the school run (though that will have to be carefully planned as I don't want to be bumping into any "friends" when I'm walking). Am also hoping to give WW another go this week, as the meal planning might be good for me.

in answer to the question I didn't see it coming, we had a very bad week prior to "the day" (as DS1 refers to it), but it could have been sorted out if we'd talked, but apparently we are beyond being able to do that while living in the same house. I have done devastated and confused and angry, and almost ill, this week I think the theme will be emptiness. DH thinks we can sort things out, but I am .

Hope you guys are doing OK.

Riapentatleisure · 27/03/2010 11:06

Hi guys, how are you all doing?

Have just popped in to celebrate - I've lost a stone

have brought my weigh-in forward a day this week as I really fancy a treat tonight after a long week of one thing after another.

Dare I say it, I am even feeling quite focused

hope you are all OK and doing well.

ConnieComplaint · 27/03/2010 20:12

Hi sweetheart.. I've not been around much lately, sorry about that.

You're going great guns, unfortunate circumstances mind you, but silver linings etc (Im not being insensitive, I hope you know that)

I'm still plodding away here at SW, have lost almost 3 stone now, about 8lb away from final goal, never thought I'd ever see it!

Speak to you soon pet xo

Riapentatleisure · 27/03/2010 21:58

well done Connie, that's fab going. How long til your DDs communion? It seems funny talking to this you, sorry I haven't got round to replying on FB yet. I will. But tonight I'm going to enjoy some wine and maybe watch TV for the first time in nearly 4 weeks (other than Tracy Beaker or Grandpa in my Pocket) Good luck with that 8lb, it'll be gone before you know it

oh, and know what you meant. My RL friend is very insensitive, so much so that I can't bear to look at her on the school run, so she probably knows there's something wrong with me (but it is an incredibly long story I will tell you sometime on FB, just in case I get outed!)

take care.x

androbbob · 28/03/2010 22:04

Ria - a fully recovered house here now!! Well done - a whole stone!! Is that a dress size yet?? (I know it varies from person to person). You seem to be more settled (if that is the right word) and getting organised! all this running around can only do some good for your sanity, wellbeing and weightloss!

I am struggling at the moment - didnt weigh in for two weeks then when I did, I have gained a pound! Not too much but seems to take an age to lose. Will be upping the exercise this week - not the best week with easter at the weekend (thankfully DH is only off Sunday) and the kids being off school. I am in work until Thurs pm and not picking kids up until 3 so will leave work at 1 and go straight to the gym and do an hour session!

Been doing boxing on the Wii which is great but not doing it enough! Also eating too much!!

Riapentatleisure · 02/04/2010 14:11

no, not a dress size though my clothes are maybe looking better

weigh in tomorrow, hope its a good one (am dying for a glass of wine, but don't want to mess up my weight loss
