am indicisive, unsure of which diet is for me, as I you do sometimes wonder about the motives behind the whole industry.

Anyway, this thread is for support through the tough times, celebrations of the good times, virtual (and not so virtual) wine and chocolate when the situation warrants it (or not). Everything you need from a slimming club and more, but without the rules, disapproval, brainwashing, five quid a week, passwords etc...

No need to disclose any personal info, you can weigh-in or not. Up to you.

Apologies to Van the Man, but it just popped into my head... Hoping to welcome old and new friends. See you on the 2nd!

Happy New Year

well done for sticking iwth it andirobo

lapsed here since the weekend. DS1 had a tummy bug last weekend, DS2 developed a cough... DS1 back to school on Tuesday, DS2&3 off colour Weds, then started being sick in the night, sick all day yesterday and diarrohea (sp?) today. I was doing brilliantly Monday and Tuesday, but it's kind of gone downhill a bit. I was struggling a lot on just over 1,000 calories though (I think the 2 week kick start plan is 1,200). someene recommended this site and it says I need to be having almost 2,000even for "extreme fat loss"

Am doing quite a lot of running up and downstairs carrying DS3 to and from the bath, and ironing loads. So not exactly inactive.

Our local gym has just started "zumba" classes. I'm tempted, but the person in charge is a mum at school and I aren't really in her crowd, plus she is very fit (runs to school in invisible lycra shorts etc)

angelene · 22/01/2010 20:07

Hi all

Sorry to hear about your DCs being poorly Ria.

Weighed myself again and I'm another 2lb down, making 5lb in a week! Woo!

Clothes are feeling looser especially around the thighs and even a bit on my tummy, my jeans are far more comfortable now. I can highly recommend Waitrose own brand soups - more like a stew than a soup, absolutely yummy, no bread required, and the Moroccan chicken one (my fave) is only 142 calories!!

andirobobo · 22/01/2010 21:10

Wow, well done angelene! I will look out for those soups at Waitrose - they sound fab! I am working my way through the Covent Garden ones at the moment!

Ria - well all you can do is pick youself up and start again tomorrow or sunday or monday - just do it! Sorry to hear the little ones are poorly

andirobobo · 25/01/2010 21:16

Lost 1.5 or nearly 2 this week - woohoo! I am pleased with myself! I think it is the change in the exercise regime that has helped!

How are the rest of you doing??

feedthegoat · 25/01/2010 21:24

Well done Andirobobo, that is great.

I was already for sulking and having a huge lunch after getting weighed this morning as I thought I'd put a pound on. Until someone pointed I still had my boots on and had taken them off to get weighed previously (We have a set of office scales at work which is why I always weigh in on a monday!).

Removing the boots I've lost a pound from last week . I'm getting fed up of soup and low fat curry though, I need inspiration! I hope every one else is doing okay.

angelene · 26/01/2010 09:53

Well done andirobobo and ftg, great stuff.

ftg - what about omelettes? I had a couple of them for lunch last week with some beans and they were nicely filling. I'm also going to make a big ratatouille and have that with a bit of fish or chicken.

andirobobo · 26/01/2010 13:16

Funnily enough I was going to say ratatouille as well - great with jacket potato!

feedthegoat · 26/01/2010 20:53

Ratatouille is probably not a bad idea, thanks. I'm not really a huge fan of omelettes, angelene. Unfortunately too ds is allergic to eggs so I try to avoid making things such as this at home that he really cannot have, as it just seems a bit mean.

I've been eating a fair bit of pasta and cous cous the last couple of days which I like. It's just hard to try and change your ways when you are used to not giving it much thought!

andirobobo · 26/01/2010 22:12

I make a ratatouille with pineapple chunks, cougette, onion, tinned chopped tomato, sweetcorn and kidney beans and a large dash of lea and perrins! I suupose it is similar to soup but has a bit more consistency to it! I use my slow cooker and let it stew all day. I will make a big batch this weekend!

I also do chilli using quorn rather than mince - less fat and calories and even the family eat it without knowing what it is!

Well I have just eaten one of the kids fudge desserts now and feel sick! Will serve me right!

I have to watch the 3rd week as I am due on and tend to lose motivation - but it will not happen this time!!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 29/01/2010 12:34

hi guys. How are you all doing?

well done on the losses

we are all nearly back to normal here, I maybe have a touch of the tummy bug and DS2&3 are full of cold, but fingers crossed the vomit has gone.

Have upped the exercise a bit here, only walking more than I was doing, but I feel a lot better for it.

Have just bought a new MP3 player for my Cto5k podcast (DS1 doesn't like me borrowing his cos I stuff it inside my bra), and a sports bra, and hopefully am starting a zumba class on Wednesday. I am very excited, I chatted to the instructor yesterday and feel a bit more comfortable with the idea of going along (and she recommended a good bra, or even wearing 2 so I thought I'd better get a good one!) Was thinking of doing the sport relief mile, but the boys won't do it with me. I'll have to try and convince DH he needs to take the day off work to look after the boys

angelene · 29/01/2010 21:57

Hi all

Weighed in this morning and am down another 2.5lb which I'm pleased with as I've gone past the first half stone mark (on a more realistic tip it means that I'm now at where I thought I was when I started...)

Like andirobobo I'm due on next week so I'm feeling a bit thicker on my tummy than on Monday when I felt REALLY slim in my regular work trousers and Christmas jumper that didn't fit when I got it.

And I had my first bread today since the 4th January when I had a tuna melt panini at the soft play - I'd love to say that after all this time I didn't think it was all that, but to be honest it was gorgeous . However, I did feel really sleepy and lethargic in the afternoon so I need to keep that in my head this weekend in particular.

Hope everyone's doing OK and hope all the family illnesses clear up soon!

Riapwhatyousow · 01/02/2010 11:38

maintain this week, but all better now and I'm raring to go, apart from it being AF/TOM/star week.

good luck for this weeks weigh-ins everyone

feedthegoat · 01/02/2010 19:12

Well done on the half stone angelene .

I've lost another 1 lb which is 5 lb in total so I'm really pleased. Particularly because I've still being having a few treats (a weekly take away and the odd cake!). I don't feel guilty to be honest because I feel that although it will be slower, it is more mantainable for someone like me who finds it too hard to refuse food all the time.

It also means my BMI has dropped from 28.1 when I started to 27.7 which feels motivating. I've had to pull my belt in a notch too so must be having a bit of an effect.

I'm still not good on the formal type exercise front. I did get up on Saturday morning and have a good old 45 minute dance session with ds though! He loved it so maybe we should try that more often.

Riapwhatyousow · 04/02/2010 22:01

well done ftg.

this week I've done a bit more walking (only round the village, nothing major yet), Cto5k W1D1, and a zumba class. DH back at work now so my child-free exercise time is limited.

andirobobo · 04/02/2010 22:02

Feed the goat - great work there! You will be at target in no time!

Ria - same here - TOTM week for me and a stay the same weight! Full of cold as well which has stopped my exercise regime. Never mind - I have been on the Wiifit today and planing to go to the gym tomorrow.

I have signed up with this website recommended on here - food focus - it is an online log of your food and exercise and is a great tracker tool - as long as you use it! Hope this will spur me on through feb!

angelene · 06/02/2010 18:08

Hi all

Well done everyone, glad to see everyone's still going great guns!

I haven't lost anything this week but I haven't put anything back on - I was on this week so my aim was to maintain rather than lose. I had a sneaky peek the other day and I'd put on a couple of pounds with my period so I'm pleased they didn't stick.

Yesterday I had a really small lunch mainly because I didn't have anything else and I really blew out at the gym, I was literally running on empty. And now I have a couple of spots which is really unlike me. So I may be a bit too strict. I've made up for it though by having Pizza Express today - although I did go for one of the Leggera range!

andirobobo · 07/02/2010 21:55

I have been to the gym twice this week - I even went twice on Friday - half an hour at lunchtime and half an hour again in the evening!

Been on the Wii tonight - a cardio boxing one which was very hard! I will do this twice a week for Feb and hope it makes a difference!

Keep up the good work ladies - we will get there!

I'm glad everyone is well (except for your cold andirobobo. Though I hope you are better now).

Another one here who is weighing in at the same this week but given the week I've had it is probably the best I could hope for . I'm afraid I've gone way off track with several meals out this week. Pizza Hut, Chinese takeaways and cavary dinners aren't really going to help are they?

Actually the next couple of months are going to be tricky. It's my birthday in a couple of week and dh's three weeks later. I've also got a hen weekend and wedding in March. My problem is I equate celebrating with over eating!

I went swimming yesterday though with ds before ruining it all at Pizza Hut . I also walked to work one day last week (nearly 3 miles and no mean feat in 45 minutes wearing high heels!).

I need to get back in the right mindset again.

andirobobo · 17/02/2010 21:53

This thread slipped off my list and took me ages to find it!!

Cold all better here! Food eating not too well and have a sore back which is stopping me exercising too much.

Back on the wagon tomorrow!!

Riapwhatyousow · 17/02/2010 22:50

hi andirobo. glad you are better.

not going well for me either. I find half terms/holidays difficult. So much for my Fab Feb plan...

had a minor op last week, nothing serious at all, but stitches in an unfortunate place, so exercise not top priority, though have done plenty of walking, and will be continuing to do so to keep the millstones sapped of fighting energy

angelene · 19/02/2010 21:49

Hi all

Haven't been able to post for a bit (for some reason my work servers block this thread as 'Porn Detected' - completely baffled as to why that is!!) and I haven't got round to posting from home.

The last two weeks I kind of stuck - but then I weighed this morning and have lost 3lb this week. The last two weeks haven't been great, I haven't been able to get to the gym or do any running at all, I'm really worried about my knees and I think I need to see the GP about them - but when??

Also my wonderful grandmother passed away last Monday, so there was a bit of fish and chips action because I couldn't really face cooking. We've been away in London seeing family so that's meant eating out and less control over what I'm eating.

However, I'm really pleased to have moved off that 11 and a half stone mark, and am hoping to get to the full stone in the next couple of weeks. I'm even thinking of looking for dresses for the Australia wedding soon!

Ria - hope you're OK after your op, and fingers crossed we'll all be able to get back exercising soon!

Riapwhatyousow · 21/02/2010 20:14

sorry to hear about your grandmother angelene

I start my diet sheet from the GP tomorrow, am not doing well by myself, and the new nurse seemed really approachable. Worth a try anyway.

Riapwhatyousow · 21/02/2010 20:15

food diary, not diet sheet. oops.

angelene · 23/02/2010 22:07

Thanks Ria. Funeral was today and so the diet's been on hold - Nanny wouldn't like me to be dieting! Starting back tomorrow though. Hope the food diary works for you, I'm sure it will.

On another point I've pretty much given up alcohol - I didn't really intend to but having given up completely for 5 weeks I seem to have completely lost my tolerance for it and always feel dreadful when I have a drink. I seem to have lost the need for it that I always had and don't miss it at all. Here's hoping it continues.
