Does anyone want to start WeightWatchers with me?

I hate jumping into new threads ... everyone has a head start and they aren't all excitable about it like new people.

I lost 2.5 stone a couple of years ago, using WeightWatchers, so I know it works. Unfortunately in the last 6 months, a stone of it has crept back on and I'm really NOT prepared to be fat again. I weighed myself today, and am (gosh) 13st 1lb.

My points allowance is 20, my first goal is 12 stone 8 lb - who's with me!?

What a fab site Strictly, thanks!

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 08:34

Well I was aiming to be 12 stone 4 by this Friday and weighed myself last night and I was 12 stone 5. Soooo very close now, am really hoping that I will get to my first target weight by tomorrow evening.

Just need to keep busy to take my mind off food. I have a dentist appointment today and if I need work done then at least I wont be able to eat for a couple of hours...every cloud...

HerMomminess · 05/11/2009 10:50

OMG! What a fab site with very disturbing facts! Seafood ramen for me from now on it seems...

Good luck with the dentist Jem. DD serious screaming in the evenings now-nearly drove me to vino/crisps/ANYTHING I could lay my hands on. Wasn't too bad considering.

Good luck ladies.The weekend beckons.

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 15:15

Oh crap, I just ate a massive piece of homemade flapjack. It was all gooey and lovely so that cant be good points wise.

Does points anyone know how many points I should count this as?

ajamore · 05/11/2009 16:12

Well, as predicted, I put on a pound. Buy hey ho it's not like I'm surprised as I gorged at the weekend. Just have to get past this and perservere. This time last year I was exactly in the same weight zone, having lost an almost identical amount in the same number of weeks and then I gained one week... and didn't go back again - completely gave up.

Am not doing it this time. Bought a pedometer to incentivise me and aim to be sensible this week. Have book marked that page Strictly but haven't had a proper look at it yet.

Jem 27 - have no idea what your flapjack was points wise but if in doubt, I always guess at 6 points! That's the point for your average pain au chocolat and that's got lots of butter in so it can't be far off?!

So back to 12 stone 7.5 - still another 2.5 pounds to go before I've lost the stone.

Well done all you losers - hopefully be joining you again next week

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 16:28

You sound really motivated ajamore, Im sure you will lose next week. I will go with 6 points for the flapjack sounds a safe bet.

Is anyone going to take up running? Im kind of thinking about it, I did it a few years ago and got quite into it then met my now husband and decided to stay home and eat lots of curry instead...

There is an MP3 download thingy that helps you get started, its quite basic and tells you when to start and stop to ease you into it and is to music, althoughb the music sounds pants.

I had an emergancy section with my DS which was 12 weeks ago then got an infection so think I might have to wait another couple of weeks before starting to be on the safe side but if anyone wants to start with me then we can get that running bright red sweaty faced glow together!

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 16:30

Arrrggghhh the first time I try and strike through a word and it doesnt blimmin work!

HerMomminess · 05/11/2009 17:33

Thought I was doing well:made a big salad for lunch with minimum feta/olive oli/no butter toast...then had half a pastry.BOO HISS winter weather.

Now roasting butternut squash to make low point soup.

Flapjacks are pretty evil, Jem- guess at 6 okay though.

As for running: I went for a run 6 weeks ago(7 weeks post 2 hour pushing/forceps delivery). Let' s just say my pelvic floor wasn't quite up to it. Now doing my 'exercises' like crazy and padding all orifices when attempting a small run.Only managing once/twice a week though if DH can babysit for 20 odd minutes.

In short:I'm with you Jem. Make sure you' re all clear to start after the c/section etc.

Bring it on!

Hang in ther Ajamore!

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 18:32

I hadnt thought of my pelvic floor not being up to it, I pushed for a couple of hours too and has a massive baby bearing down on me - he was 11lbs 9oz!

Hmmmm think I will start next week and will take it slowly, last thing I want is to not be able to laugh through fear of leakage

Jem27 · 05/11/2009 18:33

Should be 'had' not 'has'.

Excuse me Im weak from hunger....depsite that damn flapjack

HerMomminess · 06/11/2009 11:37

OMG!What a solid baby, Jem.DD was only 7lb9. Anyway:all I'll say is keep squeezing them muscles

Having a friend over for lunch AND friends for dinner...oh dear.

Thanks for the pep talk Her Momminess - I need it And hats off to Jem27 and her cuddly baby - I know that running programme you're referring to and had entertained the idea of starting it - is it the Couch to 5k one? I went to my Dr to get checked out before starting it and then found out I had high blood pressure - they warned me off any strenuous exercise until they got it under control with medication so I haven't really got an excuse to put it off now - except for the dark nights and the weather etc.! I think I will start it at some point (she says vaguely) but would like to get under the 12 stone mark before pounding the pavements.

SGM - It's always hopeful when your home scales start showing a bit of a loss - as you say, it may not be accurate but it does show you when you're having a downward or upward trend which is very useful! Thanks for your input on my pedometer question too

wonderif · 08/11/2009 08:52

i have my 3rd weigh in tomorrow and i know i have gained but i have to pluck up the courage and go back i didnt go last week, but i have lost 6 pd in 2 weeks so fingers crossed i dont put it all back on !

had been away for a weekend and then hard to get back on track.

off for porridge now

MamaGoblin · 08/11/2009 11:21

Can I join this thread?

I'm about to restart WW after several years letting things slide most enjoyably! I think the weight began piling on fastest once I learnt to drive about 3.5 years ago. I also had some mishaps along the way to becoming a mum and know I started eating treats for comfort. And am still bf my toddler, and the baby weight just isn't coming off. I think I was something like 10-and-a-bit stone when I conceived DS (my 'ideal' weight is more like 9st, I'm a shortarse) and I now weigh about 11st 4 pounds . DS is 20m. And the worst thing is, I think I've started gaining again.

So something has to change. I have very little confidence of being able to stick to my points, but surely just not eating all those slices of cake and other bad treats is going to make a difference?!

Jem27 · 08/11/2009 15:05

Hello MamaGoblin, not eating the cakes will make a lot of difference. I struggle to stick to my points to be honest but if I'm having a really hungry day then I eat loads of low point soup really fills me up.

ajamore - yes, its the counch to 5k programme, fancy giving it a go in a week or so?

Well weighed mysself on Friday and had reached my target of 12 stone 4, now want to lose another half a stone in the next four weeks.

I did have a day off yesterday when out shopping with friends, so am trying to be very strict today..

ajamore · 08/11/2009 18:20

Welcom MamaGoblin - the more the merrier I say.

Jem27 I may join you in a week or so for the couch to 5k [nervous emoticon!] I have to work out when to do it - I have my youngest to look after all day and I don't fancy doing it at night in the dark when my
other half is back from work. I suppose if I got up at 7 and did half an hour I would still be back in time to sort the kids out and get the oldest to school. I shall have a serious think about it. Trying to remember what time it gets light in the mornings here (am in Scotland) - will check it out tomorrow.

Wonderif - stick with it!! Because if you go back and have put on weight and then you stick at it and lose it again plus more it will give you such a boost. If you give up because you've put on then you'll only have to start all over again further on down the line (by which time you will have probably put on more). Tough it out - you know you can do it Good luck.

Off to have a home-made chicken curry now.

Jem27 · 08/11/2009 20:49

I find it really hard to fit in exercise too, was going to do it when my DP gets home about 5ish, then its dark enough for me to not feel self conscious but not too dark to feel vulnerable.

I hope I dont bump into anyone I know, Im not a dignified runner..

Well, just taken the plunge and been back to 1st meeting since July. I had to stop before I finally clobbered the patronising b**ch who took it; now been removed (her)and I'm back on board. Don't necessarily follow religiously but need the discipline of weighing in once a week. 5lb on, aim to get down to 10stone or thereabouts before my 50th bday next April - @13st8lb wish me luck guys. Any handy hints?

madoldbat · 09/11/2009 20:19

I spose my "just had a baby excuse" is wearing a bit thin now she's 10

HerMomminess · 09/11/2009 20:36

Woo hoo!I' m the one stuck with the dreaded Monday weigh in. I know it isn' t much but half a pound off!Didn' t think it would be as I spent entire weekend eating out. Better thatn same/up. AND I wore the same 'lighter' trousers.Only a stone to go

Made low point butternut soup and left it in the fridge. Had it rather than wine/crisps.Also got a bag of Sainsb carrot batons. Keep on crunching to the slimmer me.

How' s the rest?

Wlecome Mamgoblin! Re cakes:I keep thinking: nothing tastes as good as fitting into my jeans again...

bigTillyMint · 10/11/2009 06:48

MOB!

I agree that the leader can make a huge difference - when I went years ago, I never stayed for the meetings as I just didn't click with the leader. This time round I stay every week as the leader is fab.

However, I weigh less (about a pound) when I get weighed on one set of scales compared to the other - so it looked like I'd lost a pound and a half last night when I know I haven't! Anyone else find this?

HerM, I love the butternut soup!

Well done SGM!

I need to cut back big time this week too as I was out last night for a big meal, and wiil be out for both lunch and dinner on Saturday.

It's really difficult to know what to pick when you're in a restaurant - I chose French onion soup thinking soup is usually low in points and when I got home, found it was 6 points !
