OK, I'll try & change the setting.... didn't even know that I have chosen that option!

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 11:57

Not sure how to do it!!!

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 11:58

Go into My Mumsnet at the top and then into your email options and there will be 4 or 5 options of emails you can receive-just change the one to do with other posters contacting you.

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 12:02

Thanks for the help.

I've done it now

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 12:13

Done it Fruitgums and many thanks again.

I do know what you mean about getting your head in the right place-believe me it has taken me a loooong time to get here.

I dont know what finally clicks but something definitely does and then you just go.

Also I think if you have a lot to lose like I did (dont know if you do or not) its hard because it seems almost unachievable and you feel it will take forever so whats the point.

If you can manage to stay focused for the short term I found when I managed to get some 'proper' weight off-over a stone then I felt that was a real achievement and it helped spur me on and focus me as I was excited about reaching the next milestone.

I dont know if any of my ramblings help but please feel free to call out if you are having a tough time-sometimes you just need someone to talk you down from the need for chocolate!

Forgot to say, lost 3.5 this week, total is now 11 lbs in 4 weeks.

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 13:02

Have e-mailed you now and you are welcome.

I do have alot to lose. I need to lose around 4 stones to get to target. I'm hoping that I WILL do it this time as I'm now incorporating exercise and I've never done that in the past.

I find that I can control my eating during the day but at night it's a completely different issue.

Thanks for the tips about trying to stay focused for the short-term. I will set myself mini targets and take it from there to make it less daunting for me.

ILoveStripeySocks · 25/11/2009 13:32

Fruitgums, i try to keep my HEB for my eveing snack. Then I have 6 whoelgrain crackerbreads with cottage cheese, or light cheddar or I will some times have 3 pagen crisprolls with a smear of nutella or syn-free pate.

ILoveStripeySocks · 25/11/2009 13:33

Does anyone think we should start a new, happier thread? This one is near its limit now, and we could put all the negative stuff behind us.

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 13:42

Stripey - congratulations on losing 3.5lbs in one week - I'm really impressed!

I quite like the tip regarding having healthy extras in the evenings - will try that tomorrow. I guess you would eat stuff like fruit & yoghurt for breakfast? What's the veggie alternative to Muller Light?

BTW, as I'm a newbie I can't suggest starting a new thread.... I'm sure that the others will be let you know soon though.

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 14:05

Does anyone have the recipe for the syn free pate please?

StrawberriesandCherries · 25/11/2009 14:12

Thanks for all that advice - I will keep going and eventually get there. I agree to think of it as a way of life rather than a "diet" which word immediately makes me want to eat!!!

Have only got about 10-12 lbs till target so am hoping to get there in next couple of months.

Thanks again and hope all having a good day!xx

ILoveStripeySocks · 25/11/2009 14:59

tullytoo- The pate I make is chicken & bacon.
8oz chicken livers
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp mixed herbs
salt & black pepper
4oz cooked bacon, chopped
tub of very low fat fromage frais

Put onion, garlic, & herbs in pan and fry in Fry Light until the onion is soft, add liver and cook for about 7 mins. Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth. Add fromage frais a spoonful at a time until the consistency is the same as shop bought pate.

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 16:12

Thanks Stripey-is that free on red dayd only then? Do you know the syn value for green days or should I just work it out?

I love pate!

ILoveStripeySocks · 25/11/2009 18:42

No idea about green day syns, I only do extra easy!

Circes · 25/11/2009 21:14

The pate would be 24 syns on a green day - 12 for the liver and 12 for the cooked bacon.
Hope that helps.

Circes · 25/11/2009 21:28

Hi Fruitgum! I'm a veggie and there are plently of alternatives to mullerlights. Personally I like the Activia Fat Free yoghurts and the Shape Feel Fuller ones, which are more like a mousse in texture. Only thing is you need to avoid the strawberry ones as they are coloured with cochineal. If I remember rightly the tesco, asda and sainsbury own make fat free are also veggie friendly and syn free. There's also the Onken FF Biopot - I seem to remember they are also okay for veggies but would need to double check that one.

Good luck!

QandA · 25/11/2009 21:40

Hello everyone

Well, I go away from the thread for a few days and looks what happens Always one to get to the party late

Really pleased everyone is doing so well. well done Ria on starting running, especially with this weather!

Like some of you, the evenings are the difficult time when I feel the need to snack. I have done the same as Ilove and keep one of my healthy extras or use my syns.

Had my weigh in today, lost another 3lb, so 9lb in 3 weeks. I am really surprised. I think keeping a smaller target in my head of 1 stone is making it seem more manageable.

Fruitgums, I do all green days and a good (free) breakfast is grilled vegie sausages, grilled mushrooms, toms and beans. ( I can only manage this at the weekend but was a lovely treat and all free)

[email protected]

That's the email I set up especially for here, so email me & I'll add you to FB (and point you in the direction of sweet Ria & Stripey et al)

I maintained tonight....which I feel is a bit pants seeing as I was good & exercised loads... might show next week though.

Haven't read the whole thread since yesterday so will go read now x

ConnieComplaint · 25/11/2009 22:41

Oh wow, look at all those losses!!

Well done everyone, it's very difficult to keep losing when Christmas is in sight & everyone is eating out more etc....

Fruitgum - there are no newbies on this thread and that's the way we like it, everyone is a part of it & it doesn't matter if you've posted once or have been here forever

But a new thread sounds good

I've just had a mine area Back to butts tomorrow!!

Rialentless · 25/11/2009 22:57

well done on the losses. Your maintain is sure to be a massive loss next week Connie, either that or you have increased your muscle mass

new thread sounds great

I agree about evenings being pants. Especially if you are married to my DH

I had cereal for breakfast today, lunch was a tomato pasta and sauce with extra mushrooms, sweetcorn and some cooked bacon mixed in, and had a chicken and noodle stir fry for tea, but the kids had big portions so I'm starving!

No run today as it's a rest day. Nor tomorrow as DH back at work.

ConnieComplaint · 25/11/2009 23:15

Not so sure about the huge loss next week Mrs! I had chips on the way home tonight, dh is meeting me at lunch time tomorrow to treat me, I have a meal out planned for Saturday night...... the list is endless!!

But I shall try to be good!!
