Hope nobody minds me starting anew thread?

Long threads crash my PC!

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Kepp up the good work everyone.

OP posts:
littleoldme · 24/11/2009 12:59

Glad it isn't just me.. I haven't posted much lately because of this - I'm with you Connie.

tullytwo · 24/11/2009 14:50

I feel the same-the reason we have this thread is to unite as fellow 'dieters' -we dont need a leader as it were to be in charge as most of us have group leaders in real life!

Dont want to be hostile but do wish jananet hadnt started posting as it has ruined this thread for me.

Also dont know whether I am being too sensitive but I think the post count has dwindled off substantially since she began posting.

ILoveStripeySocks · 24/11/2009 15:31

fruitgums - the best cereal, in my opinion, is plain puffed wheat as you get quite a bit for your 28g! Make sure its not Sugar Puffs or othe rhoney coated one sthough. Add a spoon of splenda to it, if you like it sweetened.

Fruitgums · 24/11/2009 16:40

I lovestripey - thanks for the recommendation. I'll look out for it in the supermarket.

Tullytwo - I agree with you. I really didn't like her post when a fellow poster asked for the password.

sowhatis · 24/11/2009 19:42

lost 3.5lb this week, which im pleased with. still wishing it would come off faster, but im sure ill hit my goal one day..............maybe!!!!

hope you are all doing well xx

StrawberriesandCherries · 24/11/2009 20:32

How much is that altogether now sowhtis? And how much are you hoping for? That is an amazing loss this week!!

jananet · 24/11/2009 20:32

Well thank you, I guess that's me told..

Don't worry I won't be posting any more. I had hoped to be able to offer some help when people are struggling and answer questions that have been posted, which is all I've done so far.

I'll leave you to it.

ConnieComplaint · 24/11/2009 21:09

Don't take it like that Jananet - but can't you take a step back & see what it's like here?

Have you noticed how few posts there have been since you came on here? A lot of the people on this thread don't attend a class/group so they come here for support.... they don't attend class not because they can't afford it, or can't get to one, half of them don't go because they don't like the dynamics, where there is a 'leader' as such - the thing about on here is that we offer eachother support, advice, a shoulder to lean on, and from time to time (when appropriate) we offer each other chocolate

To be honest, I was reluctant to post too.... I do get what you're saying about the password and I get that you feel protective of it - but for me, It's my £5 I'm handing over in return for the password - I don't mind sharing it to help others... that;'s what pisses me off about slimming groups - they're money makers! I have no objections to telling anyone the password - hey, if I bought a bag of toffees I'd share them with the group - why not something that can help them???? If it's not posted here on an open forum I have plenty of other ways to tell it to people.... because I don't remember anyone urging me not to share the password with those who don't part with a fiver every week - it's a tad petty. (that's my personal gripe, nothing against anyone)

Anyhoo - what's for dinner ladies?

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 21:55

That is more or less what Iwould have said if I'd felt I could.

Jananet, please don't take it as a personal witch hunt or anything, but if you see it from our point of view, your first post was pretty much warning us off what we're doing here, and fair enough as that's what you believe in through your work (you wouldn't want someone in your class heckling you as you were trying to support your group. Obviously not the same, but maybe it'll give you an idea?) And presumably as we don't want to get mumsnet into any trouble, the password will more than likely be absent from the thread. But I don't actually remember being told in class we weren't allowed to mention the password outside group (please correct me if I'm wrong). As a now non-paying member I did feel a bit like I wasn't entitled to get the support offered on the thread. I am one of the people who doesn't go to class because I can't cope with the class situation, this virtual environment is perfect for me.
Are you allowed to give advice outside of classes (i.e., to non-members) though. I wouldn't like you to get into any trouble. Sorry if you are offended. If you could get into the vibe of the thread I don't think anyone would mind you sticking around, but we're about support and laughs, not feeling like we have to "impress" IYSWIM.

dinner tonight is chicken stir fry and noodles connie. EE for me today. bacon and eggs etc for lunch with HEB toast. didn't get around to breakfast as I was making christmas cakes. went to town over lunch and resisted the call of the pasty. Been for a run tonight, just the first session of couch to 5k, but a run nonetheless, and I did a bit extra as DS1s MP3 player was being temperamental. I managed to run past several people I know, including my uncle, and I had to collect DS2 from Badgers whilst still puce of face because I didn't have time to go home for a shower

littleoldme · 24/11/2009 22:17

Just to echo what the others have said - Jananet you came on to thread and more or less told us off! I don't go to classes because my Dh works two jobs and I often work in the evenings. I don't have the energy, time or money. I'm doing SW with a book I bought of e-bay, the magazines and support of this thread. People buy the right to use the password. If they share it I will use it; if the don't I won't ask. But saying using the pw if we haven't paid for it is judgey and insensitve to the ethos of this thread.

Join in and give your fab advice from the wealth of experience you obviously have. Just avoid the teacher tone and relax - It's only a diet !

Well I spent all weekend eating choc wine and curry ! Not as much as I wyuld normally but felt the need for ablow out. That said though. Having stayed away from the lard for awhile made me notice how pants it makes me feel.

Off to the inlaws for a couple of days tomorrow so I may have to take up the wine again!

Oh and as I'm passwordless - can anyone tell me are the low fat super noodles free ?

ConnieComplaint · 24/11/2009 22:45

Excellent darling The run will have done you the world of good, not just exercise wise, it's good for mental & general wellbeing too

I had an hours spin & then had sw chips, beans & fried egg for dinner.... followed by a pancak that Dh made (all within syns)

Can't wait for weigh in tomorrow night - am dreading it though, but I know I have been good, just feel like I haven't lost.

ConnieComplaint · 24/11/2009 22:48

littleoldme, yes they are.

Are you on facebook? You can add me as a friend if you are. My email address is further down this thread, email me & I'll tell you my name.

Same goes for anyone wanting a new buddy

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 22:53

I think they are LOM. (I wish those instant chinese noodles in polystyrene cups were) You do know that alcohol consumed in presence of ILs doesn't count? or the several bottles you have when you get home to recover...

have added pointless syns to my stir fry by using a sachet of black bean sauce and using 2 minute rice instead of noodles. but they are fairly low syn (I hope!) and I have been good today, plus I didn't think "sod it"and get the frozen curry and garlic naan that I know are in the freezer . does anyone know which would be lower in syns -a dash of that tesco stir-fry oil (probably a teaspoon) or sauce from a blue dragon sachet? will prbably make chicken with veg and noodles for me and the boys tomorrow as DH has gone off on a work jolly to the Good Food show at Birmingham.

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 23:02

I'm on FB too, but I think I am pretty "secure" (on FB, not in RL, obviously), but I am friends with Connie, so she can tell you who I am

sounds good connie. I feel really good. Am trying to suss out when I can go again. It's really funny, but when I got home and came on FB, my RL SW friend (a mum from my antenatal group with DS2) had posted on her profile that she might take up jogging. I have pointed her in the direction of couch to 5k, and who knows, when we both get confident we could go together. DS1 is going to get me my own MP3 player for xmas too

bedtime shortly, as much as I like power walking and being puce of face, it would be nice to get to school unflustered and on time as I'm sure they've sussed out that DS2 is always late when DH isn't about

sowhatis · 25/11/2009 08:33

total is 31.5lb. want to loose about the same again! but will be happy with a stone xx

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 08:37

Sowhatis - That's a fantastic weight loss!
Have you been using all of your syns?

Connie & Littleoldme - Well said!

Ria - I'm trying to get back into the slimming world running/walking programme. I managed to get to week 3 and have been stuck there ever since! I just don't have the energy first thing in the morning.

Hi to everyone else.

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 09:31

Connie-I would love a new buddy if you dont mind-cant find your email address though-are you able to CAT me as I am on facebook too and would really appreciate it. (more than happy to contribute to yours or anyone elses payment to have access to a password-hate the whole group dynamic thing which is why I have been going it alone-friend os a consultant and gave me all the books etc but site is great for food diary).

I have finally passed the 3 stone mark by 1 lb so I am delighted. Going to keep going 100% til xmas and then allow myself a break over the festive period .

sowhatis · 25/11/2009 09:52

fruitgums, been having syns everyday, between 5-15. last night i had 27! so none for me today, but i did enjoy the carrot cake ALOT!!!! lol

StrawberriesandCherries · 25/11/2009 09:58

Wow tullytwo and sowhatis - they are amazing losses!! I am struggling atm to get to the 1.5 stone mark for my next award so any tips you or anyone can give would be great. Not really food tips as I think i must have devoured ;)all the books, but just tips on maintaining the enthusiasm/ giving myself a kick up the behind!!

Weigh in tonight, am hoping for a 1lb!

sowhatis · 25/11/2009 10:13

try not to think of it as a diet - but as a whole new way of eating.. i am looknig forward to getting to an ideal weight and allowing myself a few more meals out etc over time, but for now its a means to an end.

hang on in their strawberriesandcherries.

xx

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 11:34

Thanks strawberriesandcherries. For me I have so much to lose and had got so heavy that this weight loss is something I can no longer opt out of -if you know what I mean. My dp is the only person who knows what I started off weighing and I am still very heavy-am only nearly half way to my goal.

To be honest thats my biggest motivator-feeling so much better after years of wishing I was able to do it I finally am and I will not let anything sabotage it -especially myself!

It is hard at times and believe me I have struggled-had 2 gains and lots of maintains but I just kept on going and didnt allow myself to make excuses for stopping-its a commitment I am determined to see through.

I always let myself have syns if I feel like it and I have tried to see it as a long term thing not a short term quick fix.

Am on here a lot so if you ever feel like you need a boot up the behind just shout and I will be happy to oblige!

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 11:40

tullytwo - I can give you this week's password can you PM me? I'm haven't quite come to grips with how this whole site works.
Wow & Well done on your fab weight loss! How long did it take you to lose all this weight?

sowhatis - glad you enjoyed your carrot cake

strawberriesandcherries - you've lost over 1 stone so don't belittle your achievement. Well done you! Keep at it & I'm sure that the weight will fall off you. How much weight do you need to lose?

Well, I gorged on pringles last night. I know that I'm not meant to but I was so tired and hungry. I'm going to try & not have any syns for the next couple of days as I really want to lose weight on my first week. I have 4 stones to lose

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 11:46

Thanks fruitgums-I will do -very much appreciated.

I have been going since May but have another 7 stone to lose -minimum! I like to aim high!

Strawberriesandcherries-I would like to echo what fruitgums said too and should have done iin my previous post. Your weight loss is going good-steady and consistent is the main thing and if you dont have as much to lose as others (like me) you may not lose as much or as quikly. I am fully prepared for my losses to slow down as I lose more and get within an overweight range rather than morbidly obese!

So keep going-you are on the right track and that is a hell of a lot of weight off your body already that you arent carting round anymore.

Fruitgums · 25/11/2009 11:49

Tullttwo - Good on you & I hope to be half as determined as you are.

I think that I'm quite messed up really. I know that I'm not happy with my weight. I know that I don't look as good as I used to & clothes shopping is a nightmare. It's takes me twice as long as now to find something to wear to work etc than it used to.

Then why oh why can't I get my head in gear and knuckle down for this rollercoaster ride?

tullytwo · 25/11/2009 11:50

Fruitgums I cant email you as you have chosen not to be able to be contacted by another poster.

If its not too cheeky can you either change that setting or if you have paid your mumsnet £5 can you click on contact poster by my name and contact me?

Many thanks again too
