lanismum - not eating enough can affect your weightloss! Try & fill up on free foods & use up all your syns if you can!

I lost 1.5lbs in my first week and was quite disappointed. Following week I lost 5.5lbs! sometimes our bodies just need to catch up!

littleoldme · 21/11/2009 12:06

hi all - another two pounds off for me - that is over the last two weekd though but am pleased as I knew it would slow down. 5 pounds to go to target Yay !

Well done on the losses everyone X

ILoveStripeySocks · 21/11/2009 18:51

well done LOM - you are so close! I hope you get it bfore xmas - how fab would that be?

I gave into temptation last night and had 2 slices of white bread with marg & peanut butter

DragonMamiCooksPotatoes · 21/11/2009 21:33

Hello again. The good news is that I lost another 1.5lbs last week & am now only 3lbs from target.

The bad news is that they've shut my SW group as of last week with no warning at all. I'm REALLY unimpressed as we had no proper explanation ("circumstances beyond our control" doesn't really cut it I'm afraid) & all the other classes are either miles away or at awkward times that I can't get to. It looks like I'll have to do one at 5:30 in the evening with 13mo DD in tow which is FAR from ideal.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

sowhatis · 21/11/2009 22:36

not happened, but i do have to take my boys, i never stay for the meeting, just go and get weighed and leave. cant wait around with the kids for the meeting.

well done on the losees. WI on tues this week. fingers crossed!

DragonMamiCooksPotatoes · 21/11/2009 22:46

Good luck! I've had a bit of a bad week so far this week (Food Day in the office on Wednesday, left over cakes on Thursday, meal out earlier) so I'm slightly apprehensive about WI on Tuesday (especially as it's a new group).

In all the chaos of the group shutting so suddenly I missed what this week's password was too - can anyone tell me? Roast was working until this afternoon & now I'm locked out.

ILoveStripeySocks · 22/11/2009 11:43

I have ordered an Actifry!! I cant wait to try it out Does anyone else have one?

AngelinaJolly · 22/11/2009 14:51

Hello Everyone!
I'm new to this and I have about a stone and a half to lose. I'd like to get a general concensus on SW before I buy the book or sign up or whatever one does. [very new to this emoticon]
Talking of which- do you go via a book or go to meetings etc?
I've tried WW in past and found it just didn't work for me. However, judging from the posts here you lot are having some sucess!

sowhatis · 22/11/2009 14:58

I go to meetings, seems to keep me more on the straight and narrow!! been going since end of sept, lost 2 stone. I signed up for 12weeks, i will sign up for another 12 weeks and then see where i am at and whether i am going to carry on at home or carry on with the classes. You can find your nearest group on the SW website. Good Luck!

ILoveStripeySocks · 22/11/2009 16:14

Welcome AJ! I have tried WW in teh past, it wasnt for me either. I love the freedom of food on SW, and it is also easy to make family meals on the Extra Easy plan which is a plus for me!

I go to meetings, I actually enjoythem. We have regular taster evenings, a raffle, and lots of chat and tips. We even have an xmas nigth out coming up soon!

It is possible to do it alone though, but I dont have the will power for that! Plus I quite like competeing for Slimmer of the Week and getting my bag full of goodies

AngelinaJolly · 22/11/2009 16:28

OK then I'll look up meetings near me.

Bag full of goodies? do tell Stripey Socks!

ILoveStripeySocks · 22/11/2009 16:52

everyone takes in a piece of fruit/low syn treat for the basket, and whoever has lost the most amount of weight that week gets the whole basket!

AngelinaJolly · 22/11/2009 18:39

That's great! I can tell I have a lot to learn eg syns, so first things first- I'll try to get to a meeting...

QandA · 22/11/2009 18:59

Welcome Angelina

I think slimming world is a good diet that fits in with family life. I have never 'done a diet' before and I am surprised how much you can eat. I did cringe at the 1st class and WI, but am on my 3rd week now and I am adjusting to it (though Ilove's Peter Kay clip has me smiling to myself ) Keeping a food diary is really positive and is keeping me on track.

Well done on everyone's losses at weigh in, especially LOM, so close to target.

What is an actifry Ilove?

ILoveStripeySocks · 22/11/2009 19:22

Q&A - they are fryers that make perfect chips, roast potatoes, veg etc with minimal oil! Other SWers use fryligth in it, so there for free chips that taste like chipy chips! They are quite expensive though, but everyone I have read who has one loves it.

QandA · 22/11/2009 19:39

Sounds good! I love chips, but have never made them at home, so am going to try and make some this week. MMM, chips

I blame you now for the craving I suddenly have for them

ILoveStripeySocks · 22/11/2009 21:44

Im sorry!

jananet · 23/11/2009 20:28

Stripeysocks - you will need to use the oil in an Actifry as a HEB because you will use more than a spray (or syn it of course).

Dragonmami - well done on being so near to your target Group closures are very much the subject of grievance to all of us, not just members.

If a Consultant has to leave suddenly (and there can be all sorts of reasons for that) a message goes out to all Consultants within about a 20 mile radius asking for a relief Consultant for the night. If no-one can do it, I'm afraid there's not much we can do. I took on a relief job last year and ended up doing it for a whole year before someone else came forward!!!

At the moment SW as a Company are terribly short of Consultants and are actively recruiting from groups all over the country. Since you are so near target, you would be perfect.....why not ask your new Consultant. It's a fabulous job which can be fitted in round your family commitments for the most part. The rewards are amazing.

ConnieComplaint · 23/11/2009 20:34

Does anyone else feel like teacher is keeping an eye on us?

ILoveStripeySocks · 23/11/2009 22:42

Not sure if thats a good or bad thing!

saywhatyouthink · 23/11/2009 23:20

me neither. The dynamic of the thread seems different though (more serious, so maybe not a bad thing?), and I am reluctant to post, more so 'cause I'm "going it alone"

saywhatyouthink · 23/11/2009 23:37

sorry

sowhatis · 24/11/2009 09:28

still keep posting saywhatyouthink- think of it as another 'group' meeting!!! LOL

im off for WI tonight. hate my scales at home, and DH has actually hidden them now to stop me weighing myself everyday! which is a good thing i suppose!

hope you are all doing well. i have been beyond saintly this week - and i bet i dont have a great loss as its always the way!! keeping my fingers crossed! xx

Fruitgums · 24/11/2009 12:17

Hi Ladies,

I'm sort of a newbie. I joined SW last night and I'm feeling very optismistic at this moment in time. My class seemed very cliquey (sp?) but the SW Leader was very welcoming & friendly.

I've had a good day so far and looking forward to having my cous cous at lunch.

Please can anyone recommend any healthy cereals? I'm having Special K Sustain but looking for more variety.

Looking forward to chatting to you all.

Fruitgums · 24/11/2009 12:24

Connie, reading through the previous posts makes me feel like there is someone keeping an eye over this thread. It's be a shame if this group dynamics changes.
