Thanks mummymorgan, I only lost 0.5 lbs! but better off than on, and I am quite chuffed as I did pig out at the weekend.

Well done you on BF your preemie! My DS was 5 weeks early and in SCBU, and its not so easy to establish BF is it? I started mixed feeding at 5 weeks because I couldnt keep up with him

sowhatis · 18/11/2009 09:31

Well done on the loss stripey!

both my boys were 4 weeks early and in scbu, BF was hard to establish. Well done on BF mummymorgan xxxx

QandA · 18/11/2009 13:21

Hi everyone!

Strawberries, that recipe sounds good, might try that next week. I am going to try the lemon mousse that is in the SW calendar, have got all the ingredients, just need to make it now!

Well done Ilove, like you say better off than on, especially after having your meal at the weekend

Made the butternut squash and bean stew, from the SW magazine and it was lovely, only 1 syn! But, yes it is a pain to peel and cut butternut squash.

Well done to those of you doing SW with babies, must be harder when they are still little, all I fancied was stodge and sweet things!

Have done quite well over the last few days, though didn't eat much and missed a meal yesterday and ended up having a bowl of cereal at 10.00pm.

WI tonight so am crossing my fingers

ILoveStripeySocks · 18/11/2009 15:06

ohh good luck Q&A! Fingers crossed for a good loss fo ryou.

Has anyone tried the lemon cheesecake muller light yogurt? ohh they are so tasty, and only 1 syn! Well worth the syn point!!

Making a beef & squash stew tonight. Just making up the recipe as I go along! lol

sowhatis · 18/11/2009 19:27

hope the stew goes well!

ive managed to get my head back under control and the lbs are falling off again! YAYYYYY!

PartTimeParent · 18/11/2009 20:27

Hi all

Managed a 0.5lb loss tonight! Quite glad really after my weekend binge that I managed to shift any at all! Will be very careful this coming week though, might even take up the lunch break exercise again!!

Had pizza for tea tonight, but that was my after WI treat & I used all my days syns for 2 slices

sowhatis · 18/11/2009 20:38

Well done on the loss PTP!

xx

ILoveStripeySocks · 18/11/2009 20:49

My stew was lovely! I added pics f it to my blog. Might have some pancakes for pudding, with some sliced kiwi

QandA · 19/11/2009 07:53

Yay, lost 2lb at WI!

Had a lovely SW cauliflower curry last night.

Those of you that have been doing it a while, do you find that if you stick to it, the weight still comes off consistently each week or do you plateau after a while?

I think I will be ok while I am losing weight, but if I don't one week I think I am more likely to slip.

sowhatis · 19/11/2009 11:36

if you stick to it you loose. every week. if you have a week (like i did) where you only loss a small amount - i got down and then had a bad week (gain of 1.5) then a week staying the same, and now ive figured out if got to eat - simple - and its got too be the right stuff.

it does work. i imagine closer to goal youll loose slower, but who knows!

xx

jananet · 19/11/2009 21:26

mummymorgan - yes the squash is a superfree food so free on all plans. The yoghurt would also be free if you get a very low fat one, so enjoy with a clear conscience

Stripeysocks - I cut the top off butternut squash and cook it in the microwave for a few minutes, it's much easier to peel and cut up after.

QandA - no matter how well you stick to plan, there will always be weeks when you don't appear to have lost any weight. Very often on those weeks you will have lost inches, so do make a note of your bust, waist and hips at the beginning of your SW journey.

One of my favourite mantras is "failure isn't when you fall - it's when you stay down. Success isn't never falling - it's getting up again and again and again!" With this in mind, if you work hard one week and see no result, be assured that it will show on another week if you don't go off the rails. If you give up altogether there's only one way the weight will go....and it won't be down will it?

PartTimeParent · 19/11/2009 22:22

Jananet - will you tell us a little bit about your SW journey?

How much did you lose & how long did it take you to get to goal?

How long have you been at goal & what tips do you have on maintaining when we get there?

My consultant isn't at goal just yet.

ILoveStripeySocks · 20/11/2009 07:17

My consultant is 2lbs from her target, we are all very excited for her!

well done on your loss Q&A!

I was soooo tempted last night, by peanut butter on toast. I was making it for my DD and i was literally salivating over it I resisted though, and had a curly wurly instead lol

sowhatis · 20/11/2009 08:04

Well done on resisting Stripey! My boys hada a md's for dinner last night and i didnt even pick a chip!!!! lol

littleoldme · 20/11/2009 15:12

Quick question.
I'm on an original day and have had He cheese, milk bread and prawns.
Dh has just rung to say he's bought lamb chops for tea. By my reckoning that means I change to an EE day if I syn the cheese - Right ?

sowhatis · 20/11/2009 17:36

sorry not sure. my guessing would be

HeA - milk
HeB - bread

syn cheese.

prawns would be free on EE anyway and so would lamb. i only ever do ee, so not sure of the other plan

xx

ConnieComplaint · 20/11/2009 19:03

Or depending on how much milk & cheese you had you could syn the milk.

It's approx 0.5syn for a dash of milk in a cup of tea/coffee.... you would probably be looking at more depending on the cheese, so I'd syn the milk. prawns, lamb both free on EE & bread HEB. Easy In fact, it's Extra Easy

Stripey, save the peanut butter on toast as a treat Use the toast as a HEB & syn the peanut butter (I looked the SW site but couldn't find it!)

QandA · 20/11/2009 19:06

Thanks jananet and sowhatis.

Well done Ilove and sowhatis, resisting temptation is impressive

littleoldme, I am useless with the days as I only do green, the rest all sound too complicated so am glad really

Will struggle tomorrow as I am at a party, so will have to think carefully about what to have.

How much exercise is everyone doing?

jananet · 20/11/2009 19:14

PartTimeParent: I lost 4½stone when I first started with SW which was just after my eldest daughter got married and I was faced with the photos. Pity I didn't do it before the wedding, lol.

It was summer time and I found it really easy as I was going strawberry picking every day and eating them by the basketful.

It took me 3 months to lose 3stone and a further 3 months to lose the last 1½.

I have always said that the hardest part is maintaining your target and I still believe that. The recommended way to maintain is to add a HEB each day (therfore having 3 Bs and the 2 As) for a couple of weeks and seeing how you go. If you continue to lose, add another. It's really trial and error to get to a place where you can jog along without either losing or gaining.

Of course it can be done, there are many target members as proof of that, but it does take a lifetimes commitment. There can be no going back to the bad old ways or your weight will go back to where it was too.

jananet · 20/11/2009 19:18

Peanut butter is 4½ syns for 1 level tablespoon - well worth using syns on in my opinion (yum).

ILoveStripeySocks · 20/11/2009 19:39

Ohhh you lot have made me want ti even more Id ont have any HEB bread in though, and not enough syns for a slice of bread & peanut butter! Will have it tomorrow though!

lanismum · 20/11/2009 20:17

Hi everyone, I had my first weigh in yesterday, 2lb off........., but, I started the diet on the monday and didnt go to my group till thurs so between mon-thurs I lost 3lb stupid body! anyway its coming off thats all that matters, I am hoping for a bigger loss next week though, its def there to lose I only had 14 syns all week last week so did think more that 2lb would have come off.........

I also got some of the hifi bars when I went to the group, lovely!

I know someone earlier was talking about their not so great consultant....well mine looked at the scales, looked at my food diary, and said 'is that ALL you ate'

lanismum · 20/11/2009 20:20

What I mean is I lost 3lb from mon-thurs, but that isnt official iykwim, then only 2lb from thurs-thurs, still, its a start

sowhatis · 20/11/2009 22:45

carry on and dont get down lanismum. and eat your syns, honestly, it makes it easier, more likely to last and more enjoyable. i also find i loose weight more when i am having syns x

QandA · 21/11/2009 08:44

2lb is good though lanismum, your consultant is probably right and you need to be eating more, especially if you want to keep it off, use your syns. Well done on the loss
