welcoem jananet! hope you will be of good use to us and keep us on teh straight & narrow

CC - i bet you will only feel guilt afterwards if you havethat KFC! sooo not worth it.

I am so going to blow my plan tomorrow! I am taking my DDs to an all-you-can-eat Chinese tomorrow, and I love it there. I am just going to have what I want & then go straight back to plan afterwards. Ill probably consume about 300 syns, but I love this place and never go there often

lanismum · 13/11/2009 21:05

Woops sorry about putting the password on, I didnt realise I couldnt, wont do it again!

I am doing ok, but friday night is (was) my bad night where I would sit and eat choc and cakes....so have to use all of my willpower.......hopefully I wont cave

ConnieComplaint · 13/11/2009 22:03

Stripey

I love chinese food too!! I so wish there was a place like that near here, though it's probably just as well there isn't!!!!

Lanis - I'm the same when it comes to snacking, that's why I like to keep my HE's for night time I've just had a lovely mug of coffee with a mint hifi bar. I also have syns left for quavers or french fries if I fancy them, though I'll try not to!

QandA · 14/11/2009 18:42

Connie, you have done so well and are doing the hardest part which is to keep going.

Well done stripey on your weigh in too.

JenK, it's no wonder you wanted to comfort, what was you ex thinking?!

Hello to jananet. Feels like teacher checking in on us Have you lost weight yourself on SW?

Lanismum, hope you kept your will power, I have needed lots today. Went to a cafe that had the most amazing selections of cake, ruined my cappuccino with sweeteners, been to a friends house where lots of cake and pizza on offer and declined it all.

But, I am out tonight with friends, will have to use my syns for the week on pizza and wine, figure if I stick to 2 wines and 2 slices, that is a good limit

Ilove, hope you enjoyed your flexible syns too at the Chinese buffet today

ILoveStripeySocks · 15/11/2009 09:29

ohhh I did indeed enjoy the chinese! I also ate like a pig but enjoyed it & I am not feeling bad or guilty. I was on plan before & after my lunch, so hopefully the damage will be minimum.

hows has everyones weekend been? its the hardest time for sticking to plan I think!

QandA · 15/11/2009 16:38

It is good to think like that Ilove, if you go straight back to it then it should be fine, that's how I am looking at it too. I am sure it helps to think of it as flexible syns, I can see how otherwise we could think well I have had that so might as well have....

I managed to stick to my limit of wine and pizza last night. Today I have had yogurt and fruit for breakfast, fruit mid morning, left over veg bake from yesterday and I am going to have SW risotto this evening. I am keeping syns to a minimum to counter balance yesterday.

I think you are right about the weekends being harder, visiting people and going out makes it more difficult, but I like the SW diet as it 'allows' you the things, but encourages you to make good choices.

mummymorgan · 15/11/2009 20:26

Hey, hope you dont mind me gatecrashing your thread but can i join you lovely ladies???

Im 6 weeks postnatal after having my 3rd daughter, and at 16 stone and 5ft 7 i am currently 4 stone heavier than my pre pregnancy weight and a size 16

My confidence is currently rock bottom due to this and i lost a lot of weight using slimming world after my 2nd daughter so im hoping for good results again!!

My target weight is 12 stone,so going to take a long time, and i could really do with the support from fellow slimming world lovers.

Congrats to everyone so far on their losses

sowhatis · 16/11/2009 10:39

Well, i went to a diff class today, as i cant make tomorrows normal one and i have maintained. hoping for a HUGE loss next week!!! hope you are all doing well xx

lanismum · 16/11/2009 11:15

Welcome mummymorgan, I am hoping to shift baby weight too, mine is 5 months old though!

Well I have stuck to the plan religiously, am very proud of myself, I even made the girls some choc muffins and didnt have one, I really would love to lose a stone by christmas, am a bit nervous for my first weigh in thurs tho!

littleoldme · 16/11/2009 13:19

Hi Mummymorgan - you'll find plenty of support on here. Good luck getting started.

Well done on sticking to it through the weekend everyone.
That Chinese sounded yum.

Well I've mamaged to gain 2pounds this week. Am V I think I've been picking too much. Oh and DH and I went out for pizza on Sat! Planning a 100% syn free week.

ILoveStripeySocks · 16/11/2009 13:34

LOM - syn free week is not the way to go Sw really advise against this. You hsoudl just draw a line under your bad week, and carry on as normal. As soon as you start depriving yourself, you are more likely to sabotage or give up! Just have a 100% week, with normal syns

welcome mummymorgan! good luck with your weight loss journey.

sowhatis - are you happy with that? is it what you were expecting?

lanismum - well done! your willpower is fab! hope you get a good loss this week!

Im having another 100% day, so this week my only blip has been the chinese buffet. Hoping to STS, fingers crossedthere is no gain. Making syn-free pate this afternoon, and hoem made wholemeal rolls that are a HEB. Cant wait to have them with my soup tonight!

sowhatis · 16/11/2009 14:40

stripey, totally agree about not having any syns - i had a bad week a few weeks ago, had a syn free week the next and the past week have been v demotivated. hence the mantainance and no loss. in fairness to me i have been v ill and not sticking to it that well! my normal WI day is a tues night, but i went today - so who knows, could have been a 1lb loss tomorrow!!

hope everyones doing well. im hoping for a big loss next week. not depriving myself of syns, going to have some green and blacks dark choc with mint tonight! yummy!

week 9 for me and a total loss of 24lb. heres hoping for loss of 10-14lb ish by xmas xx

lechuga · 16/11/2009 17:11

hi,
just wondering does anybody know if those Nom yogurts (which are on offer in Asda for 20p each) are syn free. They're by all the mullerlights etc and are fat free but seem to be quite high in calories compared to mullerlights. I can't afford to go ot class anymore so can't check syns online.
thanks

littleoldme · 16/11/2009 17:38

lechuga - someone usually posts the password on here so you should be able to check - i think it is bacon this week.

Thanks for your advice re not having syn free week. You are probably right; I'm just a bit fed up.

What low fat spread does evryone use. i use Bertolli but it is still pretty synful

sowhatis · 16/11/2009 17:44

i dont eat bread at all, so dont use a spread. maybe try it without a spread? use a vlow fat mayo or salad cream?

dont get fed up, i am feeling the same, but keep reminding myself o fthe bigger picture in all of this xx

lechuga · 16/11/2009 18:31

awh thanks. 2 syns per pot. think i'll stick to muller for now-thought they might make a nice change though

ILoveStripeySocks · 16/11/2009 18:46

LOM - we are not allowed to give out the password I use Flora light, not sure what the exact syn value is though. TBH, I rarely use any spreadsbecause I have cut out bread. Dont be fed up! Just give it a new start

lechuga - I was just going to tell you that they are 2 syns I prefer the SHape Lasting satisfaction yogurts, ar ethey are more creamy and filling. These are free!

ILoveStripeySocks · 16/11/2009 18:47

Forgot to say, I made soem syn-free pate this afternoon, and it is lovely! It really tastes like teh real thing, I am so happy!

mummymorgan · 16/11/2009 18:56

Hi ladies hope you are all well thankyou for the warm welcome!!

Well started on plan today with a red day, my favourite type due to the fact that i can eat eggs and bacon for breakfast without feeling the slightest bit guilty

Got out all my pre preg clothes today - i have no chance of getting them on but they seem so tiny compared to my size now that its spurred me on even more to lose this weight, and today being asked if i was pregnant again already - my daughter is only 6 weeks old ffs!!!!!!!!!! Wanted to come home curl up ad devour some chocolate but that only makes me feel better for a short while so im resisting!!

StrawberriesandCherries · 16/11/2009 21:34

I tried a mousse-like dessert over the weekend and it was pretty yummy!!

Make up a sugar free jelly with half a pint of boiling water, and allow to cool a little. Then mix with either 250g of fatfree fromage frais or quark - i tried both and preferred the quark with strawberry jelly.

And it is a syn free dessert! Makes a bit of a change from fuit and yoghurt

ILoveStripeySocks · 17/11/2009 12:21

Hope everyone is doing well!

I have WI tonigt - please all cross your fingers that i STS - I have really tried hard to keep to plan either side of my buffet.

jananet · 17/11/2009 13:08

Hi Secondhandrose,

The reason for the Scanbran is to add the necessary fibre to the meal. In order for anything to become a healthy extra B (HEB) it has to have a certain number of grams of fibre and the muesli doesn't have enough without adding the Scanbran.

You can find Scanbran in groups or at Holland & Barrett health food stores.

Hope that all makes sense

jananet · 17/11/2009 13:39

It's taken me ages to find this thread again after I posted last week. Is there a way to subscribe to a thread so it doesn't get lost?

Thanks for not putting the password out in the public domain. It's not me who reports these things but sure as eggs someone will see it and complain. Members of a group pay for the privilege of having a dedicated web-site and it's unfair that others get the same privilege for free.

I have contacted Mumsnet to ask them to put a warning post at the top of the board in the hope that will be all that's needed.

If anyone likes soup, I've just made a butternut squash one and it's really lovely, easy to make and quite filling.

1 large butternut squash
1 large onion
2 pints water
½ tspn curry powder
1 tsp ground ginger
2 heaped tspns chicken Bovril
Low fat natural yoghurt (optional)

Peel, de-seed and chop the squash into 1? chunks.
Microwave for 10 mins.
Dry fry the chopped onion in Fry Light for 2 mins. Add curry powder & ginger & cook for a further 1 minute.
Stir in the cooked squash and add the Bovril mixed with 2 pints of boiling water.
Bring to the boil, and then simmer for 15 mins.
Puree in blender and serve with a swirl of low fat yoghurt if liked.

ILoveStripeySocks · 17/11/2009 16:08

I love butternut squash, but i hate preparing it! It really puts me off. I love it roasted, its so yummy!

mummymorgan · 17/11/2009 18:00

ILoveStripySocks - Good luck for the weigh in!!

Jananet thanks for that soup recipe i love butternut squash - so does my dh and dds so will be making that one for tea tomorrow night i think!!! Im right in thinking thats free on Green and the yoghurt would be a HE?? Only started back last week so im a little rusty still going to swot up on my books tonight whilst im having a soak in the bath!!

Well iv found it hard to stick to plan today - managed it but only just - My 6 wk old had me awake half of the night, shes a little tetchy as iv just transferred her from breast to formula as my milk dried up due to long term medication im taking gutted but at least she got 5 weeks of it, she was a month prem and quite poorly so i was glad to be able to get a few weeks breastfeeding!

Having a GIANT pork chop and veg for tea yummy!! Red day again lol!!
