OKay so this morning the scales said - nothing, I have lost nothing! unsurprisingly as I haven't drunk enough water and am most likely being punished for that summer pudding i ate on Wednesday!

Today it is bye bye bread!

hotterpotter · 14/08/2009 07:49

Up 0.75lb Am really going to have to step up my efforts for the next few weeks

HP how do you weigh? I use the wii fit board and it is very unforgiving - With my weight gain last week and some loss earlier this week but obvioudly not enough it yelled OBESE at me this morning even though I am only .2 of a BMI point off overweight!

hotterpotter · 14/08/2009 09:03

The Wii fit is too cheeky (and not conducive to multiple weigh-ins ) I bought some Weight-Watcher scales from Argos, they were £20 and seem very good, plus they weigh in 1/4lbs.

Sorry to hear you have had no success either this week, must be something in the air

Where are you Sazzles??? Come on and inspire us with your amazing loss, or commiserate the pesky non-shifting pounds...

Sazzles - You also need to remember that muscle weighs more than fat so with the amount of exercise you are doing at the moment you will slow down the weight loss as the muscle builds.

hotterpotter · 16/08/2009 08:49

Think you will be ahead again now Sazz, have been eating loads and loads but don't care because it has been delicious Proper retro birthday dinner for DH last night of prawn cocktail, steak and chips, and rich chocolate mousse , then we have had chocolatines this morning and are waiting for sausages to cook now, plus there will be birthday cake and roast chicken later, and buns and more sausages tomorrow all washed down with booze [fat pigs]

Will make a concerted effort from Tuesday as will need to outshine you all with my foxiness at Cyteen's wedding

Dizzy did you weigh or are you putting it all off until back at work? Wouldn't blame you if you are

Hi all, back from hols. A strange combination - first week tough cycling every day (200km in the week), second week lounging with croissants & pain au chocolat & baguette & jam & cheese of all kinds & wine every night & all the usual every single day.

Result: am exactly the same weight as when I went away! I am very pleased as I had a carefree time, ate what I wanted, feel relaxed and am suffering no penalty. OK if I'd been at home I might have been down a couple of pounds but I feel great and haven't undone any of the work of the last couple of months.

oops / dizzy did you decide re the shake route? I did it a couple of years ago with good success. It's tough but rapid. You need high motivation I think, and not to be cooking for the troops at the same time. It is very satisfying once it starts though, I can remember counting my loss in many many pounds per week.

Sazz you are still an energy and exercise machine! V impressed and I would say as you have been so active & disciplined on the food front you will see a bigger loss maybe next week or the week after? If you were going to plateau I would have thought it would have happened earlier.

hots mmmmm drooly at your dinner. Hol is a good incentive, you will so enjoy shopping for swimwear etc.

Hello ladies Now that I'm officially a bride-in-waiting, I've decided to stop messing about and actually knuckle down to the business of eating less and moving more. I've never weighed myself, tried to diet or had a plan in my life before, so I was wondering if you could give me an outline of what you're doing atm? E.g. hotter I know you're doing a sort of 'good in the week, bad at weekends' thing - can you give me some more details? Honestly, I don't know where to start in terms of measuring and having goals so all advice would be much appreciated.

Having just weighed myself, I am currently 10st4lb which is rather more than I need as a person of almost 5'4". Back when I used to be thin I hovered (effortlessly ) between 8 and 8.5st, but I think now I'd be happy with 9st and toned. Does this sound reasonable? And when should I aim to achieve this, losing at a sensible pace?

Am going back to yoga on Thursday after 3 weeks off (illness followed by holiday). Am also resolved to eat less and snack less. And drink less.

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2009 20:02

I have to confess I have had a VERY BAD day. We went to Cle vedon this morning and had amazing french toast with maple syrup and bacon, followed by a walk along the sea front (about a mile) then we had a Mr Whippy. Came home and had no lunch then Roasty chook and veg followed by homemade sticky toffee pud and custard .

Tomorrow the shakes start 2 a day with 1 healthy balanced meal a day and 2-3 litres of water, NO latte's, no juice, no squash!!!

If I forget or seem to be straying please HIT me with something heavy.

I was still -0 today.

Okay ladies I am READY to get my butt into gear - no more cheating, no more 'just a little one'

Have a number of appointments this week so general exercise is out apart from my session with Paul on Thursday. Will walk to and from places instead of driving (unless it is pi$$ing down).

Well I overdid it but only by one bun and one sausage (in a breadcake) so although that's bad it's not as bad as the last time there were sausages and buns lying around.

Don't worry Sazz I have no intention of letting it slide - I am so proud of what I've achieved so far I don't want to be that fat ever again. There has just been soooo much temptation the last two weeks, pesky birthdays Besides, I just got a 'new' skirt off ebay today, and it turns out that H&M have a different idea of what constitutes a size 16 to M&S so need to lose a few more lb or that's £6 wasted

OP posts:
cyteen · 17/08/2009 18:19

Sazz I have a question about Food Focus - how the flip are you meant to add any food that isn't branded? E.g. today I've eaten some Waitrose shredded wheats with semi skimmed milk, an apple, half a carrot, half a banana and a tuna salad sandwich on brown bread that I made myself (no mayo, no butter). But I can only add the cereal and milk because everything else brings up a grillion pages of search results.

Right, that's me back on the wagon. Birthday celebrations over, 1lb up on Friday, will have that gone by this Friday then next stop 11 stone something. Have made a pact with DH to have no more crisps until we go on holiday - let's see how long that lasts...

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 18/08/2009 11:46

Have just passed around the last of the buns, and declined to have one myself Onwards and downwards...

OP posts:
VintageGardenia · 18/08/2009 12:11

Well done hotpot.

oops hope the shakes are going down ok.

Very much agree re. quality of support on here, it's not all pats on the back, you do get a boot up the backside every now and again which I think is important (see lashes). Too easy just to tell ourselves we're fab all the time! And everyone wants what's best for you, ifswim.

oopsacoconut · 18/08/2009 15:32

Have just been into town with MIL and whilst she was waiting for me to arrive she ordered me a cream tea at one point she popped to chat to a friend outside so I hid the scone in my handbag, stirred up the jam and fed DD the cream but I did drink the decaf capaccino(sp?)

VG Shakes are not too bad - I think I should have gone for chocolate flavour though - cookies and cream just doesn't cut it!

Have salad for the zoo tomorrow and mango along with a big bottle of water.

cyteen · 18/08/2009 20:02

I slipped a little tiny bit today and ate a thin slice of bread with cream cheese whilst waiting for DS's tea to cook. I was starving. Still, I did manage to dodge some cakes that a well-meaning friend brought round so it's not all bad.

Otherwise have had beans on toast for lunch (no butter, no cheese) with half a low fat yoghurt (DS flung ate the other half ), and banana/apple/cinnamon porridge for breakfast. No exercise today, if you discount chasing DS round the house, but I shall make up for it tomorrow with my walking ways.

hotterpotter · 18/08/2009 22:07

Cyteen v good on the cake-dodging

Oops very clever scone-avoidance . I don't think I would have been able to do that if someone put a cream tea in front of me

Been good today but I am hungry now . Time to make lunch for work tomorrow and pack my swimming things. Am aiming for 38 lengths again then up to 40 next week. Just need to fit in a bit more high-powered exercise rather than just walking.
