Hittin' the Gym- Gym attendance thread 09!

A little late in the year, yes, but with summer here, I'm sure there's a few of us hitting the gym! So, to introduce myself.

Name: LollipopViolet, Lolli, LV or any other variation.
Age: 19 (optional field!)
Goal: To lose my belly and tone my body so I don't feel ashamed around my skinny mini mates.
Started: 6/7/09 (I am joining my local Fitness First tomorrow, and doing a session with some mates).

So, tomorrow the regime begins. I am aiming to go 5 days a week when not at uni, and a MINIMUM of 2 days a week from September. I will do cardio, weights, and class that takes my fancy on a given day- tomorrow I am going to try Body Pump. I aim to lose about 4 stone (I think I'm around 13, want to be close to 9, but would be happy with 10). I need to curb my sweet tooth, but I'm sure if I am exercising a little treat won't hurt...

So come on ladies, let's support each other!

Oh and I forgot to mention, if you have a Wii, 'My Fitness coach' is excellent, you can pick one up for less than £15 in the shops.

Smalline · 22/09/2009 10:15

30 minutes of Davina this morning, Legs & Bums, & Upper Body, I'll have to try and fit in the abs sometime today. Did loads of walking yesterday.

Rebeccash · 22/09/2009 13:24

Hi ladies
Had an over-indulgent weekend as it was my birthday but went spinning yesterday and today. Its bloody hard work but this thread is going to keep me motivated! Will weigh in on Friday

Smalline · 23/09/2009 10:38

30 mins of Tae-Bo this morning.

Rebeccash · 23/09/2009 13:06

Went spinning again today and then Body pump (a mainly weights based exercise) straight after. Am permanently hungry through all this exercise and hoping I see some effects soon

Smalline · 25/09/2009 10:00

Nell McAndrew's cardio, this morning (I'll try and fit in the core & stretch later on today).

LollipopViolet · 25/09/2009 18:05

Had a wicked workout in the gym today, feel great. Slipping with my healthy eating though, since uni began again (2 days ago!). BUT, my mum is looking at taking the 2 of us away to Dubai after uni finishes, and I wanna be a skinny toned thing in a swimsuit so I'll have to get it together!

Pump, Cardio Box and a bit of Core Stability this morning.

I was hoping to get into the 70's bracket this week weight wise but it wasn't to be I'll let you know when I am.

Smalline · 27/09/2009 11:11

Picked up what looks like a good exercise dvd from the car boot today for £1. It's David Kirsch's Ultimate Fitness Boot Camp, can't wait to try it out.

Smalline · 28/09/2009 10:18

Tried out the new dvd this morning, it was definitely challenging & refreshingly different, I couldn't do one of the exercises, the walking crab my arms just weren't strong enough, I will one day though.

Smalline · 28/09/2009 13:17

I am so excited! my new Davina 'Super Body' workout dvd has just arrived, I'm so looking forward to my working out tomorrow morning

Smalline · 29/09/2009 09:40

Davina's superfit workout this morning, it was hard going but I managed it, it's definitely one of those dvds that will grow on me.

spokette · 29/09/2009 10:35

I did the Pump it Up DVD yesterday and my legs ached all day. I forgot how intense that work out is (the original one), especially the High Energy section.

This morning, I went to the gym and blasted the Concept 2 rower, knocking 30seconds of my best time.. Also did weights and treadmill. I feel fantastic!

spokette · 29/09/2009 10:37

I agree that Davina's latest workout is a grower. The one that I cannot get on with is Mel B's Totally Fit. It is great workout but the music is banal and her voice gets on my nerves!

spokette · 29/09/2009 10:47

Just been reading thread, and Smalline, who have similar DVDs to me. I love the David Kirsch one. I have all of Nell's DVD and my favorite is the Ultimate Challenge. I have three of Davina's DVDs and have lots of Tae-Bos, my favorite being Everbody Get Ripped.

I also love the 10 minute series because they are great when time is precious. I have the Kickbox, the Cardio, Toning and Blast of BellyFat (that is fantastic).

I also have a box set (4 DVDs)of The Firm series of DVds which I bought cheaply of ebay.

My other favorite is Pump it Up (original) and Pump it Up (ultimate work out).

Variety is the spice of life as they say and at least I never get bored.

I also run and go to the gym so I am series about being fit and healthy.

spokette · 29/09/2009 10:49

you have similar DVDs to me

off ebay

I am serious

Must remember to preview

Smalline · 29/09/2009 17:38

Tell me more Spokette, do you have a favourite Trainer? are the 'Pump it up' workouts very dancy, I'm always interested in trying out new workouts but cannot do the ones with dance routines, am not very co-ordinated. You do sound very fit, how do you manage to fit it all in?

LollipopViolet · 30/09/2009 09:25

Oooh I've been a bad girly recently with food, and not getting to the gym. I'm now very tempted to go for one of these dance-y type workout DVD's to do when I've got a full day of uni and can't get to the gym.

Oh, new pic on my profile if you want to see me doing what I do It's the top picture

Smalline, my favorite trainer is Billy Blank! He is the ultimate motivator for getting yourself fit. I have, Tae-Bo vol.1, Abs and Glutes, Everybody Get Ripped, Get Ripped, Energise, Ultimate Bootcamp, Celebrity Fit Sculpt and Celebrity Fit Cardio.

The Pump it up series is only good when Deanne Berry is leading so the ones to get are Pump it Up and Ultimate work out. These are just simply brilliant. The high energy section on Pump it Up leaves me exhausted. I don't do the Dance section on Ultimate because I find that I always cool down too much so I do the High Energy aerobics and move straight onto the Boxing/combat section followed by Below the belt toning.

I also love Karen Voight and recently bought Sweat Quick and Slim as well as Strength -Toning on a ball. However, I need to buy a multi-region DVD before I can use them (Doh!!!!). Silly me should have checked.

I also like Davina and have Power of 3, 30 minute work out as well as Superbody workout.

I fit it in by getting up early to go for a run or go to the gym (6.30am) or if I am doing a DVD, just fit it around the twins and work (work full time). Alternatively, I go to the gym in the evening after DH has been for a run or to the gym.

Smalline · 30/09/2009 11:17

Billy Blank is my favourite too, I have the ultimate collection, Abs & Glutes, Tae-Bo Active, Tae-Bo II get ripped, Energise, Basic Training BootCamp, Ultimate BootCamp, and I've just noticed that I have one in my box that I haven't even opened - Ab Bootcamp! his Get Celebrity Fit Sculpt is my favourite of his.

Before I started Tae-Bo, I did Karen Voights workouts, the one she did with Elle MacPherson got me started on her, I have Ultimate Step Circuit, Burn & Firm circuit Training, the complete sleek workout, and one of her older ones Great Weighted workout, I also have quite a few of her videos but no longer have a video player. I haven't done any of hers for ages.

So now I mostly do Tae-Bo, Davina, a little bit of Nell's (I find that I do a lot of clock watching when I do hers) and whatever else I might pick up cheaply at the carboot or Ebay, I might put the Pump it up and the Ultimate workout on my Christmas list.

I've lost my running partner, she lived at the back of me, but has moved now, I don't really feel comfortable running by myself.

spokette · 30/09/2009 12:42

Yep, I do a lot of clock watching with Nell's DVDs too. The only one that I can do without collapsing through sheer tedium is Ultimate Challenge. Peak Energy and Maximum Impact are sleep inducing.

I have The Body video that Karen Voight did with Elle McPherson but don't really use that now.

My favourite videos are The Ultimate Step workout by Keli Roberts and Jane Fonda's Abs, Bums and Thighs. I never tire of doing these.

Anyway, I have just completed Pump it Up: Ultimate workout. I am exhausted.

spokette · 01/10/2009 11:21

I did 45 minutes at the gym first thing this morning. Focused on cardio and abs. Did 1500m row on Concept II machine followed by long session on abs and finished with 20 minute run on treadmill using the variety programme.

Smalline · 01/10/2009 12:54

Davina's super sculpt this morning, loved it. I woke up in a foul mood today, cos DD kept coming into the bed, she woke me up 3 times during the night (she's nearly 7 by the way), anyway I felt so much better after my workout.

Smalline · 03/10/2009 09:48

A killer workout this morning, Billy Blank's Ultimate Bootcamp, 50 minutes of cardio, upper body toning, lower body toning and abs. Oh and the best news, I am now in the 70's bracket, I now weigh 79.2kgs YIPPEE.

Smalline · 03/10/2009 10:01

How are you doing LV, have you managed to get to the gym this week?
