A little late in the year, yes, but with summer here, I'm sure there's a few of us hitting the gym! So, to introduce myself.

Name: LollipopViolet, Lolli, LV or any other variation.
Age: 19 (optional field!)
Goal: To lose my belly and tone my body so I don't feel ashamed around my skinny mini mates.
Started: 6/7/09 (I am joining my local Fitness First tomorrow, and doing a session with some mates).

So, tomorrow the regime begins. I am aiming to go 5 days a week when not at uni, and a MINIMUM of 2 days a week from September. I will do cardio, weights, and class that takes my fancy on a given day- tomorrow I am going to try Body Pump. I aim to lose about 4 stone (I think I'm around 13, want to be close to 9, but would be happy with 10). I need to curb my sweet tooth, but I'm sure if I am exercising a little treat won't hurt...

So come on ladies, let's support each other!

Wow, sounds like you've lost a kilo LV, about 2.2 lbs well done you.

MorrisZapp · 16/07/2009 12:58

Hiya

MorrisZapp (MZ!) aged 38 here, I've been a gym member for about 10 years but I don't go as often as I should.

Just looking to stay slim/ get slimmer, tone up like everybody else.

Currently doing body combat once/ twice a week as well as heaps of walking.

Looking to ramp it up a bit, am considering getting a personal trainer - do we think it is worth it, generally? My concern is that if I go to the gym myself then I just won't have the motivation to push myself.

I totally agree that it's so much easier to eat helathily on gym days - it's as if you feel 'purer', also you don't want to ruin your hard work.

I've been doing body combat for 8 years now, I'm the one at the front showing off and kicking major ass, but the thing is it isn't as much of a challenge any more and I think I need to push myself in new directions. It's hard to force myself out of my comfort zone though!

Body Combat rocks btw - I recommend it to everybody here.

LollipopViolet · 18/07/2009 09:25

Got my final personal trainer appointment today, then I'm allll byyyy myyseeeelf! Should be interesting, at least all my muscles have stopped aching from BodyPump.

I haven't been to the gym for two days and i really want to go (Dh is away so no childcare).
The staff at my gym seem good at encouraging you to do more if ask them.

I've been going for nearly two weeks now and following the routine they've given me. Haven't lost any weight but I can see more muscle definition (under the layer of fat of course) and I definitely feel 'bouncier' and have more energy.

LollipopViolet · 19/07/2009 09:15

Ow, ow, ow. Who knew your core muscles were used for SO much every day? Mine are killing me after what the stupid trainer made me do yesterday. I struggled to get out of bed! It'll be worth it!

Oops rested Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday last week, so didn't reach my target of 4 workouts per week.

Yesterday Billy Blanks 'get TaeBo celebrity fit sculpt', A high-powered, high-energy workout developed by Billy Blanks to help you attain a toned and sculpted body, strenghten your core, burn fat and increase your overall fitness level to give you a total body workout.

Welcome MorrisZapp & Whyme2

LollipopViolet · 21/07/2009 19:03

Oooh, I've nearly lost 2 kilos in 2 weeks! My weight now says 81.7 on the scales, down from 83.5! Happy times! Although I'm not gonna post on fb about it now because some people I'm friends with have been talking to each other about "updates about pumping iron" and "hope she doesn't lose the jlo booty" and I think mean me, but I'm hoping they don't because the way it reads isn't very nice I only post on there that I'm going to the gym so that a) people I go with can see and maybe join me and b) so that it's harder to get out of going!

Davina's Power of 3 dvd this morning, I know I am going to ache tomorrow!

LollipopViolet · 24/07/2009 21:42

Aaargh due to working 6 days in a row, my next gym session will have to be TUESDAY! I miss it, I've been good and not eaten naughty foods, but ooooh I want to exercise too!

My mate at work was eating a huge plate of chips and gravy at lunchtime, and I had my first "OMG, I need want something sweeet, sugary or just plain bad for you!" craving, but, you'll be proud to know, I got through it, and didn't fall off the wagon. I can't believe it, I can't remember when I last had chocolate!

When do the cravings go away again? Or will eating lunch with my mates induce this horrible want every time?!

OP posts:
Smalline · 25/07/2009 18:00

Yay, I've reached my target this week! Aerobics class on Thursday and Billy Blank's Tae-Bo Active dvd this morning, so that makes it 4 workouts this week.

Personally LV I don't think the cravings ever go away. It's just a case of a little of what you fancy does you good.

LollipopViolet · 01/08/2009 09:58

I've had a very bad few days Burgers, pizza and junk at work Not good. Am going to the gym this afternoon so will work extra hard there, and am going tomorrow, but again got 3 days in work after that! Urgh! At least I finish the job in 20 days, then I can blitz it before the uni junk cravings come back

LollipopViolet · 02/08/2009 10:49

Poo put about a kilo back on bad lv, bad! Still, onwards and upwards! Who knew a couple of bad days could do that?! Grrrr, must try harder today!!

OP posts:
Smalline · 03/08/2009 11:46

Don't let that put you off LV, so you've had a couple of days off, I bet you'll find, that you'll lose that kilo in no time, once you get back on track with your healthy living.

Did 3 workouts last week, should be more as I am working hard to lose 3 lbs that I put on a couple of weeks back.

Tae-Bo this morning.

Smalline · 05/08/2009 09:01

Did a 'My fitness coach' workout on the Wii last night, boy that was good.

LollipopViolet · 14/08/2009 10:40

Well I went to the gym yesterday, then for a swim First time in a pool in ages, so I just pottered about, doing a few lengths (weaving in and out of all the kids and teenagers) and then just played about in the pool, floating on my back, my front, treading water etc. Felt very good after. Oh, and I've now got my weight down to 80.5kgs, so exactly 3kgs lost! Woohoo!

Smalline · 16/08/2009 20:11

Got back from our holidays on Friday, have done 2 workout sessions so far, both of them 'my fitness coach'.

LollipopViolet · 17/08/2009 17:10

Oh dear, my mum was right when she said "Swimming AND the gym on the same day is too much!".

I've thrown my lower back out, right by my bum-bone (can't spell the proper name!). God I'm in agony.

OP posts:
Smalline · 18/08/2009 09:24

Ooh sorry to hear that LV hope it doesn't last too long.

I've been aching myself the last couple of days, a whole week without any exercise, then exercise 2 days on the trot was a bit much for my body.

Smalline · 20/08/2009 18:34

2 more workouts to add to my collection this week, did my fitness coach 'flexible' workout on Tuesday, which are mostly stretching type exercises, then 40 mins of Tae-Bo this morning, that earnt me a whopping 493 extra calories, a huge glass of wine for me this evening.

Smalline · 23/08/2009 13:59

Davina's High Energy 5 today, Aerobics, Legs, Pump & Abs, didn't have the energy to do the Boxing, I'll do that another day.

LollipopViolet · 25/08/2009 10:42

Well, my back has been fine so I've been back at the gym. Annoyingly, still 80.5kgs, but at least nothing's crept back on Me and a friend are having a big gym week this week, went yesterday, going today and going tomorrow (after shopping yay!)

OP posts:
Smalline · 25/08/2009 11:05

40 minutes of Tae-Bo this morning.

LollipopViolet · 25/08/2009 15:11

Hahahaha! My friend and I were talking about holidays today, and if we can find one cheap enough, we're gonna book! It'll give me a target to aim for! Depending on dates, it'll either be a winter sun one, or one next summer. Personally, either would do for me, as after uni, I'll need a holiday!

OP posts:
Smalline · 27/08/2009 09:24

60 minutes of Tae-Bo this morning, that's an extra whopping 730 calories for me today.

LollipopViolet · 30/08/2009 17:00

I'd just like to share my success. I've broken into the 70's in terms of my weight! I started in July at 83.5kgs, I now weigh 79.8kgs. I really don't know how good that is, I'm still occasionally having lapses in my eating, and that hasn't helped, but I'm proud!
