A little late in the year, yes, but with summer here, I'm sure there's a few of us hitting the gym! So, to introduce myself.

Name: LollipopViolet, Lolli, LV or any other variation.
Age: 19 (optional field!)
Goal: To lose my belly and tone my body so I don't feel ashamed around my skinny mini mates.
Started: 6/7/09 (I am joining my local Fitness First tomorrow, and doing a session with some mates).

So, tomorrow the regime begins. I am aiming to go 5 days a week when not at uni, and a MINIMUM of 2 days a week from September. I will do cardio, weights, and class that takes my fancy on a given day- tomorrow I am going to try Body Pump. I aim to lose about 4 stone (I think I'm around 13, want to be close to 9, but would be happy with 10). I need to curb my sweet tooth, but I'm sure if I am exercising a little treat won't hurt...

So come on ladies, let's support each other!

Have got an appointment with my personal trainer man tomorrow at 11.30. Then on Sunday I think some mates are heading up for a workout so I will join them. Might brave Body Pump on Monday at 11 too, now I've heard it's not that bad lol

I'm planning to do a Tae-Bo dvd, I find that tae-bo is great for burning fat, toning abs and getting rid of saddle bags.

surreylady · 10/07/2009 22:08

Just found this tread - can I join please....

Name - Surreylady
Age - 40's
Goal - been overweight since birth of first over 10 years ago - time to be back to size 10/12.
Joined Gym - Last day in May...

support thread will help......
Experience so far - DD swims 3 times a week for an hour per session - I go to the gym pretty religiously and do about 30 minutes each time - like cross trainer, treadmill (have a decent one at home also) and bike that has a sit back seat - recently went back to instructor and looked at some upper body toners....

Have been eating sensibly and low fat but sine start of June have lost only 9 1/2 pounds so disappointed but not down hearted and I do feel healthier and fitter - swiiming club ends tomorrow for summer break so need to continue to believe - so would be great to have virtual colleagues - Hello All!

Smalline · 11/07/2009 10:13

'only 9 1/2 pounds' surreylady, wow that's fantastic it's nearly a stone, try carrying 5 bags of sugar, that's how much you have lost.

LollipopViolet · 11/07/2009 16:47

Well, my legs now want to seperate from my body and kill me! But, I do find I can lift more, for longer with my legs than my arms. Also went out and bought a new swimming costume, for saunas and swims after gym workouts.

Oh, and stupid trainer bloke had me doing squats with one of those giant balls behind my back, and I was like "It hurts, my knees hurt so bad!" he got worried and went "where, where's the pain?!" and when I told him it was just above my knees, he goes "oh, you had me worried there! It's OK, that's normal, just work through it." Grr I hate squats.

GiraffesCanRunA10k · 12/07/2009 10:20

Hiya

Oh my god lollipop squats sound evil!

I went to the gym on Thursday but went really strange after - thought I was going to pass out, my vision went all blurry. Had to lye down for 20 min. Only thing I can think of is I didnt cool down properly.

Ran on Fri and was fine. And went to the gym yesterday too and was fine.

Not sure if I am going to run or gym today - my legs are sore at the top inner thigh bit.

LollipopViolet · 12/07/2009 10:43

giraffes, could it be you were dehydrated? I had something similar yesterday, felt very, very sick after the squats, but it quickly passed and I was able carry on.

The front, back, inner and outer parts of my thighs are sooo sore today, but I promised a mate I'd go to the gym this afternoon, so I've got to really. I've also been advised to steer clear of free weights, because apparently you can really mess yourself up. At least on the machines my body is somewhat controlled.

GiraffesCanRunA10k · 12/07/2009 10:52

Nope had 2 bottles of water. Was really odd. It was when I was on the way home from gym.

I'm not sure I can be bothered going to the gym today, think I will just do a wee run and maybe gym tomorrow.

LollipopViolet · 12/07/2009 12:05

Hmmm very odd then. I'm going to go, will do some cardio then some weights for both arms and legs. My legs are much stronger than my arms. Anyone know any good bum/tum exercises?

OP posts:
GiraffesCanRunA10k · 12/07/2009 12:39

I went for a run, was raining slightly but that was actually nice!

Apart from sit ups I'm not really sure. bum bum bum

beaniebaby25 · 12/07/2009 14:42

I have been rather lame today, and nursing a massive hangover so decided that a run probably wasn't a great ide. So i did a pilates DVD instead, which was good although rather gentle. Was enjoyable though. Spin class tomorrow night though

giraffes - yeah running in the rain is really good! cools you down and makes you feel all martyr-ish and like you deserve a treat afterwards!

GiraffesCanRunA10k · 12/07/2009 14:49

Well hopefully I do deserve a treat because am about to meet my best friend for tea and a huge slice of cake

LollipopViolet · 12/07/2009 21:18

I did more of the same today, arm and leg weights. Also tried to balance on my tummy on one of those giant ball things...and fell off, much to the amusement of the whole weight room. Did 20 situps too, my record lol with the aid of my mate standing on my feet. Also did my cardio as well.

LollipopViolet · 13/07/2009 17:30

Did BodyPump today. It's nearly killed me. I didn't eat a lot this morning so that was not a pleasant experience, was very shaky by the end of class. Was enjoyable and will go again on Wednesday, but must remember to eat first! Might just go swimming tomorrow...

OP posts:
beaniebaby25 · 13/07/2009 20:29

I did body pump today too LV!! Also shaky, arms especially. My legs were quivering during it! It was a lot harder than the last one. Enjoyable though. Spin class for me tomorrow night. Wish i could go swimming though, there's no pool near me.

LollipopViolet · 13/07/2009 21:02

I'm torn between swimming and having a rest day with a little Wii Fit, just to tide me over til Wednesday's body pain pump class (it's good pain I suppose lol!)

OP posts:
bleh · 14/07/2009 11:01

May I join please?

Name - Bleh
Age - erm, something.
Goal - have gained weight over the last few months, and would like to lose some and tone up: upper arms and back, wobbly belly and thighs. I have two weddings to attend in Aug, so want to look good for them
Joined Gym - aaaaaaaages ago, but my attendance has been somewhat sporadic.

I went for a jog yesterday, followed by a lot of stair climbing, some lunges and tricep work-out things. I was supposed to go to the gym this morning, but was asleep too tired. I aim to go later today, do about 30 mins. cardio and then toning exercises.

LollipopViolet · 14/07/2009 11:33

Aaargh muscles are soo sore today. I'm having a healthy eating but no activity day because I'm determined to do Body Pump again tomorrow so don't want to overdo it!

OP posts:
beaniebaby25 · 14/07/2009 20:42

Hi everyone (welcome bleh!)

I am so sore today too LV - so much so that i wimped out cancelled Spin - I can barely walk today and thought I'd spare my poor legs.

I desperately want to go tomorrow night though, as i can't go to gym Thurs or Fri so i have to go tomorrow, which will only make it twice this week. Will try and get out for a run this weekend too.

LV how long is your body pump session? mine is 45 mins but all info i read on internet say they're normally an hour. wondering what i'm missing out on

Smalline · 14/07/2009 22:29

Saturday: Billy Blanks ultimate bootcamp dvd, one hour of cardio, upper and lower body toning, and abs, it's a fast pace routine which had me mopping myself and the floor after 20 mins.

Sunday: rest

Monday: Davina's High Energy Five. I did the Aerobics, legs & pump sessions which are approx 20 mins each, (there are also Abs and boxing sessions, but I'll do those on a another day) I'm not particularly a fan of Davina, but I do like her exercise dvds. During the legs & pump sessions there are 4 one minutes intervals of fat burning exercises, like running on the spot, star jumps, spotty dogs etc.

Today: 50 mins of Wii EA Sports Active.
Tomorrow rest.

whyme2 · 14/07/2009 22:55

Hi girls, can I join.

Name - whyme2
Age - 32
Aim to lose approx 4 stone and tone up my party sized jelly belly from 4dcs.
joined gym 06/07/09

I won a years membership in a comp and went once - didn't think I'd like it but I really love it, would go everyday if I had time and childcare. Aiming for 3 visits per week.
10 mins cardio
15 minutes on weight machines
15 minute cardio.

I'm aiming to slowly increase times and weights and plucking up courage to attend some of the classes.

whyme2 · 14/07/2009 22:57

Is anyone else doing a diet as well? I find it much easier to eat sensibly on my gym days than other days. Have just eaten bar of choc
Going to gym tomorrow definately!

LollipopViolet · 15/07/2009 14:01

My BodyPump classes are an hour, I think you just miss biceps and triceps? I'm not entirely sure. Did my second BP class today, then something called FitBall to work on my core muscles. Very fun and enjoyable.

bleh · 15/07/2009 15:36

Thanks beaniebaby!

I've been trying to do healthy eating as well, so far so good. Yesterday went to gym and did 20 minutes cardio, about 10 minutes toning (a quick trip, but worth it). Will try to get to the gym today as well.

LollipopViolet · 15/07/2009 16:03

Oh, and I've lost a...well I'm not sure what the unit is, when I started, the scales said 83.5 today they said 82.5. So it's working! But now I've got to work two 10-6 shifts and it's at work where my eating goes pearshaped...
