Hooray!!!!! Good luck today guys - got friends over for dinner tonight - what to cook, what to cook?! I'm thinking fish - low cal and quick!

LovingTheRain · 08/05/2009 07:45

Fish is good . I love doing spag bol, using the be 'good to yourself' mince, onions cooked in a little 'fry lite' and sauce with spaghetti. Very filling but is lower calorie than other things i love to cook like moussaka. (If anyone has a lowe calorie cheese sauce recipe, let me know please!)

Not sure what to eat for lunch today. Am thinking maybe a tortilla wrap with lots of veg and a little chicken or cheese! What is everyone else having?

paranoidmother · 08/05/2009 12:19

Hello Thought i'd join in as I need to lose about 7 stone (more if I'm honest) so I'm having veg soup for lunch with a couple of pieces of crisp bread. Then i'm going to watch the kids eat ice cream.

paranoidmother · 08/05/2009 12:21

I've managed to lose 2lb this week by adding in some exercise and am aiming to lose at least 7lb a month from here on in. I'd like to lose 3 stone by October for a holiday and keep going from there on.

PieceNharmoknee · 08/05/2009 12:37

Well done paranoidmother! What exercise are you doing?

Happypetal I think fish is a great idea

LTR your making me wish I had some tortilla wraps, what veg would you with that >

I have no idea what I'm having for lunch yet!

LovingTheRain · 08/05/2009 13:01

Welcome paranoidmother

welldone on loosing 2lb, we have our weigh-ins on a monday so you're already ahead of us

Piece, i had cucumber and tomato in the wrap with a little low fat mayo and cheese. Had carrots peeled and whole on the plate and i ate them with it. ( I was munching like a rabbit but the carrots were quite sweet and i love that )

What is everyone else having/had for lunch?

OP posts:
PieceNharmoknee · 08/05/2009 13:22

I dont like cucumber or tomato so will have to think of something else to put inside, do you tuna would work?

My lunch at the moment consits of a cup of coffee

I'm doing Kedegree for dinner, whats everyone else having?

paranoidmother · 08/05/2009 13:26

Oh dinner tonight is swedish meatballs with rice and peas. Am off to do 30 minutes of steps on the Wii - whilst flicking over to watch episodes of Chuggington to entertain the DC's.

paranoidmother · 08/05/2009 13:29

I've been doing 30 minutes of steps on the Wii and trying to then do 30 minutes of boxing/hula hoops/running/yoga each day and then a couple of times a week am going for 3-4 mile walk with a friend from down the road.
Am going at this with plenty of exercise as I find it difficult to cut out foods so though i'd cut down instead.

One of my friends has found out that it's something like 37,000 calories in a stone. So I've got plenty to get rid of.

PieceNharmoknee · 08/05/2009 13:31

Kedgeree

I really need a wii fit

LovingTheRain · 08/05/2009 14:53

Welldone ParaM. My wii fitness coach camt through today. i had to do all sorts of measurements and exercises (it asked how many crunches etc i could do following the model on the screen - i put none!!) Hoping that will change as time goes by.

Good idea PM with the steps. Our wii fit is in the conservatory and the tv isn't tuned in to anything else, so when i free step i get bored after about 30 secs. Maybe i should try sorting out the tv and stepping when neighbours is on!

Dinner sounds nice Piece. DH's parents are taking DH, DCs and I to the carvery so i will try and pile up on all the veggies. Pudding doesn't come with the cavery so i won't be tempted!

Ok then chaps - fish it is! Just bought some nice thick cod - going to bake it in tomatoes with onions and other veg thrown in for good measure - a sprinkle of low fat cheese on the top and cous cous to serve - mmmmmm! Have to say - nice as it sounds, I do have an overwhelming craving for chicken tikka masala! Doing well so far though - lost 5 pounds in the last two weeks - hoping to lose another 2 by next Wednesday to make 1/2 a stone ....... Happy Friday night everyone!

PieceNharmoknee · 08/05/2009 19:27

Friday night with no alcohol is not a nice thought

Chilimama · 08/05/2009 20:38

The cod sounds amazing Happypetal, would you mind one more round for dinner?

PieceNh - Can you not have something to drink? A small glass of wine or something similar? I would get easily bored if I couldn't have a little treat now and then.

Have just had a lovely bbq with dh, kids and mil who was over for the day. Lots of prawn and vegetable kebabs so quite healthy, although I did have one burger so I didn't feel left out.

Today I have eaten

Breakfast - weetabix and semi skimmed milk, herbal tea.

Lunch - one slice of wholemeal toast with beans and small portion of grated cheese.

Dinner - King prawns, pepper, onion and mushroom kebabs, beefburger in a roll with ketchup.

Snacks - Small piece of fruit cake (mil brought it over as a treat), an apple.

Trying to drink 2 litres of water a day, so far managed 1.3 litres. Did some gardening today for an hour or so and walked the dog.

Hope you have all had a good day!

PieceNharmoknee · 08/05/2009 20:55

Sorry for posting and running - was cooking our dinner.

Happy your fish does indeed sound delish! Well done one the weight loss

If I open a bottle Chili, it'll be half gone before I know it I've decided to only drink on Saturdays - wonder how long it'll last?! I'm of your bbq

Today I have eaten:

Breakfast - Fruit and yoghurt

Lunch - Cheese Sandwhich and a coffee

Dinner - Kedgeree

No snacks (so far) and about 1L of water

LovingTheRain · 08/05/2009 23:21

Welldone everyone I had lots of veg at the cavery and no pudding! (Usually puddings are my fav part! )

OP posts:
Happypetal · 09/05/2009 09:09

The fish was a hit! Amazingly it satisfied the veggie (that eats fish!) the friend on slimming world and me doing WW. However ...... not entirely sure that the vast quantity of wine was such a winner for any of us! Next time - you're all invited!

So ..... back on it again today - weekends always seem harder I find - more time to hang around the kitchen vicinity ...... Anyone else find this? Any tips?

Happypetal · 09/05/2009 09:13

OOOOH! meant to say ..... M&S have relented and taken off the extra charge on bigger sized bras and are knocking 25% off all bras today - it might be for the weekend - not sure but it's certainly today and online too. Town is calling me!

LovingTheRain · 09/05/2009 10:53

I have removed all things sweet from the house so i'm not tempted.
I find staying active at the weekends helps to distract me from food. Usually try and take DCs out or do something busy with them

OP posts:
LovingTheRain · 10/05/2009 11:15

How is everyone doing? Weigh in tomorrow ladies!

OP posts:
PieceNharmoknee · 10/05/2009 12:34

Well done for staying away from the puddings LTR, good willpower!

Hows everyone coping with the weekend?

I met some friends for lunch yesterday, which turned into a very loooong lunch and didnt actually involve any food but lots of wine
I fell asleep after dh put dd to bed so didnt eat the take away which he ordered so at least I saved some calories there.

Roast for dinner today. Whats everyone else having?

LovingTheRain · 10/05/2009 13:03

Roast tonight too Piece! Having the potatoes with fry-lite but the yorkshires with a little normal oil (they never work properly or taste nice with spray oil)

Lots of veggies too!

(Don't worry about the wine yesterday, a friend came over with homemade scones and i had two )

OP posts:
PieceNharmoknee · 10/05/2009 14:12

It would have been rude not to LTR

LovingTheRain · 11/05/2009 08:56

It would piece it would!

I was worried my little weekend snack of my friend's scones would have hindered my weight loss but apparently not. [grin (yay!)

I am down 3lb so am happy. Want to loose more next week but 3lb less is better than 3lb on so am pleased with myself. Going to exercise more this week to help the weight come off quicker
