Really looking forward to it now LTR

LovingTheRain · 06/05/2009 13:00

oo dear, sorry Piece! It's okay really, and knowing it's good for me is spuring me on!

My main problem with dieting, apart from being a greedy fat pig, obviously, is that I have a hard time convincing myself to eat stuff that is good for me not nice because I think I'm wasting precious calories on things I hate. So I tend to stick to small bits of things I like rather than widening my dietary horizons IYSWIM. Doing ok so far though, although I have eaten the equivalent of Tesco's fruit aisle!

PieceNharmoknee · 06/05/2009 13:23

I know what you mean eyeballs.

I want to try and complelty change the way I eat. I want to learn to eat healthy, but its only worth doing if I eat things I like otherwise if once I've lost the weight I will revert back to eating what I like and pile the weight back on again.

I need to find food I like but is healthy so I stick to it forever.

I just had 3oz of white patsta with pesto it was yum! and very filling - well lets hope it lasts me till dinner

LovingTheRain · 06/05/2009 13:37

I am the same Eyes!

Welldone on the fruit and piece on the pasta!

WHat is everyone having for evening meal? I am thinking of doing chicken with 'slimming world' chips (potatoes with fry lite baked in oven) and veggies.

Maybe we could compile a list of healthy choices for brekkie, lunch and Evening meal? Then if we are stuck for ideas we can look at the list

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 06/05/2009 13:48

Oh I loooooooooooove pesto....

PieceNharmoknee · 06/05/2009 13:49

Great idea about the list LTR - I always need inspiration!

I've made a fish pie for dinnner.

I'm going to add fry lite to my shopping list and try those chips

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 06/05/2009 13:53

Tonight I am having chicken, with rice and vegetables so not dissimilar LTR. I was going to make a chicken casserole in the slow cooker but it jumped off the top of the fridge and smashed itself and I haven't found a replacement yet.

Do you all feel motivated still? I was floundering yesterday and I have had one moment today where I've thought 'sod it. I'm going to Krispy Kremes on the way home' but I think I'm past it now and feeling quite chipper.

LovingTheRain · 06/05/2009 14:09

i have been counting all my calories, ( won't do it forever but want to ensure i am on track in the beginning).

Apparently woman can have up to 1940 a day, but to loose weight need to eat less.

I am working to 1500 a day (I think that's enough!)

Including my evening meal tonight, i'll have eaten 1360.5. Do i need to make that up to 1500 or is that okay? >

I know on weight watchers you can save any used points a week to try yourself, so maybe you could not use those calories and have a nice treat at the weekend?

I dont know if I can be arsed to count calories. I think if I dont lose anything I will start

PieceNharmoknee · 06/05/2009 14:19

*to treat yourself not try yourself

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 06/05/2009 14:36

I did WW for a whole three weeks just before Christmas and it works but I'm too tight to pay. Should have my books somewhere though...

PieceNharmoknee · 06/05/2009 14:40

I'm looking at this thread as my weight watchers weigh in and meeting, it has the bonus of being free

LovingTheRain · 06/05/2009 14:43

Same Piece! This is my WW too! If any of us have WW or slimmingworld books we can use them to refer to and pass on tips/ideas to others

Well, I went swimming at lunchtime I couldn't stay long as I had a meeting but i managed 10 lengths of a fairly long pool.

I go to a university union pool, so everyone was skinny and young, but, once I took my contact lenses out, I couldn't see them so I stopped being too bothered by it.

LovingTheRain · 06/05/2009 17:16

welldone Slug Bet you feel better for it!

PieceNharmoknee · 07/05/2009 00:49

Well done slug, very brave IMO

I'm still feeling motivated, even though I was very tempted by the smell of chips from the local chippy today

Mamadiva did do you do 4 lenghths?

LovingTheRain · 07/05/2009 13:09

How is everyone doing on day 3? I have eaten the same pasta as yesterday for lunch but added in some carrots. Went for a 20 min swim too so feeling positive.

OP posts:
PieceNharmoknee · 07/05/2009 14:25

I also had the same pasta lunch as yesterday. So far today so good.

Well done on the swim LTR - I feel my lack of exercise is letting me down

slug · 07/05/2009 15:52

Went swimming at lunchtime with my equally rotund workmate. We are now eyeing up the Pilates classes.

LovingTheRain · 07/05/2009 16:40

welldone slug. Let me know what pilates is like if you go to a class somewhen. I have wondered about pilates or yoga but have never had the confidence!

Just checking in as I was so busy yesterday I didn't have time to. I must say I am super impressed by you all, especially the swimming!

Today was another day dashing to appointments but I logged everything I ate into my online tracker which is invaluable.

PieceNh asked which one I used this one you can have a free 24 hour trial and then it works out at about 9.80 a month. I used it last summer for about 3 months and lost around 20lbs but unfortunately put it all back on again! There is a free one at scroll down the page as well which is not as in depth but still a good guide.

Today I walked about 3 miles and ate

Breakfast - 2 slices of wholemeal toast with thin spread of flora.

Lunch - Bread roll with hummus, olives, lettuce and mixed beans in mint dressing.

Dinner - 100g pasta with courgettes and cured bacon (dry fried), 1/4 tub of half fat creme fraiche and a tbsp of parmesan plus lots of black pepper.

Snacks - some mixed grapes and some lovely licorice and chicory tea I bought earlier.

I am going to try and cutdown on my bread intake tomorrow as it seems to form most of my meals!

How are you all feeling tonight?

Happypetal · 07/05/2009 19:58

Am I too late to join? - like you eyeballs - started at 17st 9lbs...... it's got to go!

Happypetal · 07/05/2009 20:01

Should have said ... just joined WW online - hope that doesn't count me out!!!!!!

LovingTheRain · 07/05/2009 22:01

welcome Happypetal! Of course you can join, the more the merrier

I am feeling good tonight chilimama. Is hard for me (the (ex)sugar addict) as sugar is what i seem to crave! Whenever i feel hungry i am drinking my sugar free apple and blackcurrent

How is everyone doing?
