Starting tomorrow, my healthy eating begins (And exercise)

I am going to loose 6 stone (atleast).

Would love others to join me who want to loose some weight, we can support eachother etc!

Cheese sandwhich it is then.

I need to find a salad I enjoy. I'm not keen on lettuce and hate tomatoes so it kinda rules a lot out.

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 12:22

Are you going swimming by yourself?

I guess I am just paranoid that I will go and only be able to do one or 2 lengths before needing to stop for breath.

We should try and set some targets on lengths and see if that helps.

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 12:26

I don't like Iceberg lettuce but love little gem lettuce if that's any use.

I buy the little gem lettuce and just take whole leaves off them say about 4, mix some tuna, extra light mayo and sweetcorn together, dollop that inside the lettuce leaves put some grated red onion through it if you like and a teeny bit of cheese on top.

Makes little lettuce boats

Only good for in the house though obviously, I find that with a piece of fruit and a yoghurt is lovely and filling.

LovingTheRain · 05/05/2009 12:33

I am indeed going to go on my own mamadiva. DH has got both of us health club memberships through work ages ago. He uses his but i have always put off using mine.

Will start with the pool, don't think i could face the gym right now with all those skinny people!!

Mmmmm my plain cheese sandwich with very little spread is lovely...

Actually it tastes like nectar from the gods I'm so hungry. Will be better tomorrow

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 12:39

Notice me avoiding the swimming discussion btw . If I got in a pool then all the water would get out!

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 12:44

Eyeballs I did go swimming up until christmas but the pool shut for a bit and now friend does'nt want to go etc (insert suitable excuse here) LOL.

I felt like everyone was staring at me the first one or 2 times and then I either did'nt notice or did'nt care.

As my mum says though, It's not how many eyes are staring at you, it's how many eyes you are staring at!

Go for it girl I got a lovely swimming costume from Evans for £25 it holds everything in well, and covers what it needs to cover plus it has a pretty design at the top across the bust to distract from my legs

PieceNharmoknee · 05/05/2009 12:46

eyeballs

Its the thought of walking from the changing rooms to the pool that puts me off, far too exposed!

Thanks for the idea aboout the lettuce mamadiva, I'll give that a try. I welcome all suggestions gratefully

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 12:51

LOL, DH said at Center Parcs last year he'd never seen someone leave their towel on the chair and get into the water as quick as me in his life!

Mama, I'd need a sort of kaftan affair to cover from the tips of my hair to the tips of my toes!

As I right in assuming that, as we are all aiming to lose 6 stone, that we're all around the same weight? Not asking for details but just checking that there are no 12 stoners amongst us who are looking to get to 7 stone! This of course doesn't include our skinny-malink member Mumcentreplus who only wants to lose a measly three stone

LovingTheRain · 05/05/2009 12:52

I know what you mean eyeballs with the sandwich. Anything tastes good when we're hungry!

That is going to be a big thing for me, the hunger. I seem to be hungry most of the time - possibly due to the fact i eat crappy foods which give me a rush of energy but are not nutritionally valid.

Let's have a list of foods we can snack on anytime of day if we are hungry without feeling guilty

List

carrot sticks
cucumber sticks
tomatoes
apples
oranges
bananas
grapes

Feel free to add to the list

would love to be 12 stone but at the moment i am way, way above that. (Not for long though- we can all do the dance of joy when the lbs start dropping off)

OP posts:
EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 12:59

Of course 12 - 6 is 6 stone not 7, I was just testing

PieceNharmoknee · 05/05/2009 12:59

I'm the same weight as mamadiva - if she can delcare it so can I!

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 13:03

Oh God, I'm a stone more than you and mamadiva then . Oh I don't care! When I stick to a diet it comes off quite quickly so it won't be for long. Wahey, sparkly little black dresses for Christmas parties here we come!

Actually, my SIL is getting married beginning Jan 10 and she is totally gorgeous. I would so love not to be a moose at her wedding.

LovingTheRain · 05/05/2009 13:08

My weight is two and a bit more than PieceNharmoknee and mamadiva

So i want to start with 6 stone and then probably two more depending on how i look!

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 13:10

So shall we all be brave and have a weight chart with our names and weights on it and once a week we change the weight and note whether we have - or +?

It's actually quite liberating saying your weight

so say

mamadiva - start weight 16st 6lbs wk1. -4 wk2. +2

Does that make sense?

How about a monday that way we are all doing it at the same time?

My goal is 11st but breaking it into small goals of 7lbs to make it more attainable.

Have any of you tried WW it is fantastic, well the first 3 times I went LOL.

LovingTheRain · 05/05/2009 13:17

Let's do the weight chart indeed!

DH has set up something on excel for me where i type in my weight and it does the calculations for me.

OP posts:
EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 13:22

I think so. If I post my weight then I might be more inclined to stay with this. After all, if anyone in RL says 'you're how much???' then I can say, ah yes, I was but no more!

You don't need to put your weight if you don't want to but a loss or gain chart would be useful I think.

How about a cumulative chart....

Monday 4 May (I know it's Tues!)
mamadiva - start weight 16st 6lbs wk1. -4 (total -4)
Eyeballs - start weight undisclosed wk1. +10 (total +10)

Or do we want to keep track of each week's loss?

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 13:24

Good for you LTR!

And well done for not expecting be super skinny and look fab, that's where I have seen people fall down before!

It does'nt matter how much weight we need to lose all that matters is that if one of us has a bad day or just needs a bit of support to stay away from MacDonalds then we are to virtually slap talk you round

You have actually motivated me this morning I have to say, although I am starting tomorrow because I did'nt see this early enough LOL

So thank you fr starting it!!!

PieceNharmoknee · 05/05/2009 13:25

I cant do anything technical like excel mamdiva is that what you mean?

I need to buy some digital scales to make sure I get the lbs exactly right.

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 13:26

Yes, round of applause for LTR, great idea and thank you for giving me a kick up the arse. Although by 6 o'clock this evening we'll probably all want to slap her!

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 13:27

Yes that's the kind I mean eyeballs

Could'nt think how to describe!

Eyeballs trust me it is kind of like 'it's out in the open everyone knows and I must change it to let myself and everyone else see'!

I might even be brave and post a pic of me in normal clothes on profiloe and then do it again a month from now and every month after!

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 13:29

Right....

My name is Eyeballs and this morning I weighted 17st 9

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 05/05/2009 13:45

OMG you've all run away in horror

Chilimama · 05/05/2009 14:20

Well done Eyeballs for posting that, I'm afraid my weight is even more

I weighed in this morning at 20st 7lbs and the only fact I can console myself with is that I haven't put on any weight in the past year!

So glad LTR started this thread, thank you for all sharing. I really hope this will give me the motivation to sort myself out.

Can't believe I posted that......no turning back now!
