Wow, 3lbs in a week - thats amazing.

I really need to get more exercise in.

I'm going to buy a pilates dvd from Amazon. Anyone got experience? Is it good? Do you lose weight through pilates?

wannabe - I bought a skipping rope off of ebay, I'm just waiting for it to be delivered any day now!

I live in a flat though, would feel a prune if I went outside to do it! Will just have to jump away in my bedroom!

Well done to you all, and welcome TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets - FF is easy once you get into it. I watch everything I put into my mouth now

Cheers to kettlechip for pointing us all in the direction of FF!

Everyone is doing really well. The weekend was a challenge, but it won't always be and I am determined not to make myself miserable, so extra exercise is the order of the week. Going to restaurants is going to be hard with ff and there will be an element of guesswork. I think the key is the thought that goes into what is being eaten.

AquarianMum I have a wii fit and think it is very good. If you can not get to the gym, or even out of the house very easily like in my case because of 2 small children and a DH who works long hours, it is perfect. Like all exercise, the more you do it, the more addictive it becomes.

ducdo · 27/04/2009 13:21

Well done everyone, so pleased to hear such great results from you all.

My weigh in this morning and I've lost 2 lbs this week and really pleased as was expecting just 1 pound off.

Out to dinner tonight and tomorrow but will watch the cals to make sure don't eat too much. Next run will have to wait until Wednesday evening but looking forward to it already.

Keep up the good work everyone

Lucifera · 27/04/2009 13:32

hello all FFers - having seen it mentioned here last week I started on Thursday. I was trying to lose a stone by the end of June, starting at 11.3, just a pound a week (I'm not very active, and middle-aged, and it does seem to be harder to shift weight now). I'm "allowed" 1374 cals a day which I seem to have kept to so far, but that might be because I can't be bothered to to put in all the things that I can't find quickly - I've eaten meze-style meals over the last few days, lots of salads and bits and pieces ...
Anyway I've lost 5lb which is probably a sudeen drop which won't be repeated, but am feeling loads better and very motivated.
Wishing us all success and better health and fitness!

Ellibop · 27/04/2009 16:03

I've just ordered My Fitness Coach to go with Nintendo Wii - read loads of reviews and it sounds very good so will keep you all posted.

I'm finding I'm now getting into the habit of thinking about what I'm eating much easier now. I went to a birthday party this morning and previously I would have thought it was the green light to eat everything I fancied and then because I'd blown it to eat rubbish all day and start again tomorrow. But instead I had a couple of things which I've entered into FF and didn't go overboard.

Well done everyone with your impressive weight losses this week.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 27/04/2009 18:20

Fitness coach does look good. I've done 20 mins on Wii Fit Step today, but I'm a bit bored of it and its the only thing on Wii Fit that I feel is a good caloried burning workout (I hate jogging on the spot so don't like the running).

I've gone over my calories today. I had a slice of pizza mid afternoon, followed by 3 jaffa cakes and 1/2 pack of crisps. Oooops.

I was planning to go for another long bike ride today but was put off by the weather. I'm planning on running 5k tomorrow. Will have to see if I can do some more Wii Fit this evening to make up for it.

changednam · 27/04/2009 19:13

Despite my wobbly at the weekend I was 9st 1.5 lb this morning - so that's 4.5lb lost in a week - but I've done loads and loads of exercise.

I think that possibly the exercise or my base level of activity is burning more calories than I'm giving myself credit for - for instance I noticed that food preparation can be added as exercise, which I wouldn't have thought of adding in (only if you're not snacking as you go of course) .

This weekend, I'm going to start a "let's get through the weekend" thread for all dieters - there might be strength in numbers.

Well done everyone, keep at it!

reducedfatkettlechip · 27/04/2009 20:25

changednam, I'm similar in that I'm losing a bit more than my estimated 1.5lbs, but I'm only counting exercise as actual aerobics, running etc. Never noticed food preparation on there, I don't think I use a lot of calories the way I scramble eggs!

Got a few comments at playgroup this morning from people I haven't seen in a while. Today is the start of week 6 doing this - am hoping for a stone in 8 weeks.

It's lovely to have everyone on this thread joining in, just think how much we're all saving on Weight watchers fees doing it this way!!

LastOrders · 27/04/2009 22:14

Today I done my first proper load of excercise since starting FF.

School run on bike - a mile each way (which isn't a lot but it is when I'm having to tow DS on his tag-a-long too!)

And just done 1/2 hour boxacise DVD.

Ok ok, its not great, but for me its good!

I also hoovered to my Ska cd which makes me move my ass like a loon!

Good on you all girls. We should soon have a joint weight amnesty - declare what we've all lost and see what it is in total. Think we'll be amazed!

kingprawntikka · 28/04/2009 08:47

That's plenty of exercise, sounds like every one is trying really hard. Pleased to see some weight losses !! well done everyone. It does make you think a bit more about what you are eating and some foods turn out to be a bit of a shock !

lilianfox · 28/04/2009 12:24

hi there

wow! that's an amazing weight loss for everyone. This is such a great thread as everyone is so motivated and losing lots. yes it would be interesting to see how much we have all lost.

lastorders that's cool that you got out the dvd how did you find it?

reducedfatkettlechip how did you get to hear about ff website? I was having alook at it seems it has been around for a while but I had never heard of it before I saw link on mumsnet by chance. I was also having a look at their terms and conditions and i see that it mentions that they reserve the right to charge in the future if they want to etc So hopefully we have all got in at the right time to lose our weight!

However i must say that i have been a member of ww on line for a couple of years now although i have recently cancelled my membership after finding ff as I never really benefitted from using it although I know people do. I find that it's much easier to deal plain calories than points (I sound rather evangical don't i?)so wouldn't really mind paying for the service as it's soo great.

ellibop what you said about not going over the top at party was great. i am exactly same in that if in the past i have eaten something that i have not deemed to be part of my diet i will then think 'oh blow it i might as well eat loads and start tomorrow' etc however i haven't done that yet. Although i suppose it's early days for me a week and abit in.

hope you're all having a good day. I'm off for an afternoon nap with dd xx (Burn a few calories while sleeping

ducdo · 28/04/2009 13:39

ducdo · 28/04/2009 13:43

drlove8 · 28/04/2009 14:07

well last night i blew my weeks effort , DH brought me a special fried rice with gravy and a creame egg! , it was my birthday so think i can be forgiven (?). today ive had rice cakes and cottage cheese with cucumber and coffee, am a bit late with lunch so am having a quick green salad and a yogurt now..also drinkind loads of water with a cheeky slice of lemon. scared of weigh in tomorrow, but fingers crossed will do loads of wii fit and latereral trainer later so hopefully i will still have lost a pound or so .... am thinking ive got a bit to go but your all keeping me going with your lost poundage posts!

reducedfatkettlechip · 28/04/2009 16:10

hi lilian, I found FF after trying to register for Weight Watchers online - for some reason the website was down and I then looked on MN and saw a thread talking about free online calorie counters. When I looked at FF it was pretty much what I'd been about to pay Weight Watchers £47 for so I was pleased!

I've been doing it for 5 weeks and lost 11 pounds so far, have another 11 to go. I can honestly say it's the easiest way I've ever lost weight, there's something about seeing the basic calories in, weight off calculations which really keep you motivated.

I went into a sports shop today and spent £50 on running clothes, came out with 3 tops, a pair of jogging bottoms and even some white cropped trousers which I have visions of wearing with an aqua t shirt to run while on holiday when I'm tanned and toned. We'll see!! (deluded emoticon!!)

Well done everyone else, lastorders lol at you shaking your bum like a loon while hoovering!!!

reducedfatkettlechip · 28/04/2009 16:12

and happy birthday drlove8!! All is forgiven!!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 28/04/2009 17:14

AFternoon

Day 2 for me here and going fine, worked out how to add in things I can't find.

Is it possible to feel thinner already??

I am so happy I stumbled across this thread and Food Focus, it's making things much easier to keep on top of. I'm feeling really motivated too, even been to Starbucks yday and today and only had filter coffee!!

1579/1628 calories by the end of today.

MrsBoo · 28/04/2009 17:44

I have registered too, after seeing the thread last week. I have loads of weight to lose/take off - and my calorie allowance is huge, so that's a bit confusing.
I have not lost any weight, but you never know - my worst time is between 3 and 6pm. After i come home from work/pick up the kids from school - and snack way too much.

Anyone any ideas to stop me - apart from willpower which i am sadly lacking.

Furball · 28/04/2009 19:13

Just come on to report the biggest find ever -

Meringue Nests = 58 cals - what a steal!.

58 cals very well spent IMHO, sorts out the sweet cravings.

reducedfatkettlechip · 28/04/2009 19:20

Ooh furball, meringue nests with fresh strawberries in, and maybe a blob of Greek yoghurt. Yummy.. (adds meringue nests to Tesco online order..)

What other foods are surprisingly low in calories? Got this recipe from MIL's WW magazine and it's lovely for breakfast and about 150 cals - 1 massive portabello mushroom, dry fried in a small pan (cooks in its own juices). When cooked, add a loaded teaspoon of light cream cheese, and some salt and pepper. Serve on a slice of wholemeal toast. Yum yum, kept me full for most of morning and you could have twice the quantity and it still be low cal, or have spare cals for a morning snack.

LastOrders · 28/04/2009 20:41

Excellent find Furball

I got my pilates DVD through the post today, I've bought a mat, so I'm off to bend & flex!

I've been A1 on axercise today, but I just don't 'feel' like I'm losing any weight.

Keep striving on though Ladies.... (through gritted teeth!)

LastOrders · 28/04/2009 21:02

Anybody know what Pilates may come under on the exercise log?

Would it be classed as Aerobics? High Impact?

I dunnooooooooo!

TIA

kingprawntikka · 28/04/2009 21:04

Some times it takes a while for your body to adjust though, I'm sure you will feel thinner soon. I have eaten too many calories today, my lovely nan died on Sunday and I've not felt like eating until today and now after dinner have just eaten a bag of wine gums with a glass of wine. I suppose I can carry over the deficit from Sunday /Monday and it will even out .

LastOrders · 28/04/2009 21:13

Sorry to hear that KPT.

You are excused for Calorie Overload, you have good reason to.
