oh blow, meant 'the thinone

ThingOne · 24/04/2009 11:00

Oh, how I wish! I was nine and a half stone this time last year, got very very ill, went down to nine (looked shit) but as I got better I just ate and ate for England. And the rest of Britain, and probably a few other countries as well. At the same time as not really being able to get out much. Hic.

But really all I was doing was research into how much G&B's you need to eat to put on four stone in less than a year .

wannaBe · 24/04/2009 11:08

have decided to take today off from exercise but now not sure that's such a good idea because sitting at the pc just makes me think about food!

ducdo · 24/04/2009 11:31

wannabe thanks for the burger recipe, sounds great and only 115 cals is good so will defenitely try it out.

Went for a 3 mile run last night which meant I was within my cal intake of 1400 but have a night out with the girls tonight which = wine and lots of food so have to keep an eye on what I consume! Maybe a long run tomorrow will make up for any indulgences, although have a 6yr olds birthday party to go to so busy weekend!

Going to make up a niscoise (spelling?) salad with tuna and egg for lunch which shouldn't be too high on cals.

Had so many baked beans the past couple of days I might take off with the wind so def need to try something different!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 24/04/2009 12:14

Well I've been doing it for 6 days - have stuck to my calorie allowance. I've been really good and exercised every day - running twice, badminton, long bike rides, etc. And in 6 days I've put on a pound. Am very disappointed. According to their bumf which tells you how much you should be losing every day I should have lost a pound.

ThingOne · 24/04/2009 12:23

Oh God, just had an avocado for lunch . I mean, I knew in theory they were calorific and full of fat but eeek eeek. At least I'm keeping my protein levels up!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 24/04/2009 12:23

One thing I don't get - my food calorie target is 1504 "after exercise".

But its 1504 every day no matter what exercise I do. So does it actually mean before exercise and then if I go for a run and burn 300 calories I could actually have 1804 calories?

LastOrders · 24/04/2009 12:26

Are you due on Stripey?

I was fantastic last week, ate well, exercised etc, but put a pound on.

I was thouroughly pissed off.

Turns out that my period was early and that was why.

But I know my personal weigh in tommorrow will be uneventful, I just feel like I've not lost any

OP posts:
StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 24/04/2009 12:33

My period started today so yes, that could be messing it all up. So hopefully next week will be better.

Furball · 24/04/2009 12:36

If you log your exercise, yes your calorie alllowence goes up - hooray

kettlechip · 24/04/2009 13:28

Hi to all new people, more the merrier I reckon!

I think it's ok to save up spare calories for faster weight loss or to have a big meal now and again. But if you're already losing 2 pounds a week I wouldn't eat a lot less than your calorie allowance as I think it can actually send your body into starvation mode, which slows your metabolism down and makes your body store fat, if that makes sense. Someone knowledgable might come along and put me right on that..

I went to the pub for dinner last night and resisted alcohol, chips and pudding while all around were scoffing. Very hard but the feeling of my jeans being loose is spurring me on. I had a massive Greek salad which probably wasn't the best with feta and olives but had done an hour workout to compensate earlier on. Going to try and run this evening.

LastOrders · 24/04/2009 16:57

Well done kettle, thats willpower for you!

I'm a sucker when it comes to the dessert menu!

Does anyone know of any exercise websites? I have a Davina workout DVD and I'm loath to buy another (mainly because I don't know what to get) and I was wondering if you could view them online?

ducdo · 24/04/2009 17:58

You can download some fitness DVDs from this site for free - thepiratebay.org/

Might be worth a try Lastorders?

I am out to dinner tonight with the girls to Prezzo. Any ideas on a low cal option I can go for anyone?

LastOrders · 24/04/2009 18:33

Eat a napkin!?

Cheers for site, will check it out.

Kettlechip I take your point on not going too far under the calorie recommendation. Came in at 900 yesterday and now ravenous today! Also v hard to exercise if you're eating very little.

Went to a parent-teacher meeting this morning and resisted pao de queijo, this absolutely gorgeous Brazilian cheese bread. I've not managed to turn it down in the four months I've been here - but had an apple from the fruit tray instead today.

Oh, beans and rice: it's just beans boiled up in stock and spices with onion, garlic and a bit of olive oil. Then serve with plain white rice. Very filling and easy on the FF calorie counter!

ducdo · 24/04/2009 18:59

hilarious! napkin it is then..

nikkid21 · 24/04/2009 19:54

Not doing too well today. It's the garlic bread what did it. 3 measly slices from a baguette (so about 1/3 of a baguette) was 183 cals.

Have gone over cal allowance by 350cals. It's offset by the 800cal of exercise that I did this morning but i'm not sure if I should count exercise as giving me more cals to eat or if it should be a sort of 'weight loss bonus'

drlove8 · 24/04/2009 20:05

thought i was doing really well today, until i logged in the meal i had for dinner... salad with poached egg and small tin of mackerel...OMG how could fish have so much in it? oh well, and i suppose the jaffa cke i sneaked in at lunch didnt help either..was good last night ...did an hour on the wii fit .

drlove8 · 24/04/2009 20:07

i cant do garlic bread - id eat the whole thing, tis better i stay away.... i lurve garlic bread

changednam · 24/04/2009 20:10

Good heavens nikkid - what on earth did you do to burn up 800 cals?

I'm just going to do half an hour on a cross-trainer - it's not on the list - but I reckon that should burn up about 179 cals if it's the same as a stationary bike, moderate effort.

It's so I can have some wine later!

I'd have to be on it for two hours to be anything near 800 calories though.

LastOrders · 24/04/2009 20:25

I'm just bidding on a skipping rope on ebay to help me shift these pounds.

My neighbours are gonna love me bouncing around above them....

nikkid21 · 24/04/2009 20:47

800 cal made up by

2.5 k run at 11km / hr
2 k rowing
35 mins free weights
45 min spinclass

The whole session I keep my heart rate between 120 & 170 beats per minute. My heart rate monitor is set to my weight, sex & bulid so gives an accurate calorie count.

I do that 3 times a week and then do 3 60 min body pump classes at well. Somehow I still have wobbly bits

Re the crosstrainer - for me the cals that I burn are the same as running at 5.2mph on food focus. You might be diddling yourself if you go for aerobics as that's only 392 cal/hr vs 624 for the running.

kettlechip · 24/04/2009 22:34

Flipping heck nikkid, I did a 2.2 mile run tonight and felt virtuous, never mind what you do!! Am in awe.

Just nipped out to Asda for milk and bread (what a Friday night social life I have ) and picked up a lovely pair of shorts in a size 10. Tried them at home and they actually fit - hooray!! Bit tight but another half stone will sort that out.

Keep going everyone, weekends are the hardest imo. DH wants to go to the farmers market tomorrow so temptation will be all around..

Cocobear · 24/04/2009 22:48

Christ, nekkid. Am also in awe. And slightly scared! Shall run more tomorrow in honour of your effort.

Cocobear · 24/04/2009 22:49

Kettle.. size 10 shorts. How wonderful. One day...
