thanks HuffwardlyRudge. I do feel healthier, but my clothes don't feel any loser at all. So there have been some benefits...Think i'll stick with it for another few weeks, see what happens.

Although, I've just seen my friend and she suggested that my calorie allowance might be too strict (900 doesn't seem very many to me) which could actually be prohibiting me from losing weight. I should add that this friend has sucessfully lost a stone since christmas through WLR and exercise etc. Same happened to her at the beginning; she didn't lose any weight, increased her cals to 1100 and started to lose. Does this sound like a good idea? I could amend my target to 1lb per week rather than 2lbs and see if the increased allowance makes a difference?

OR am i being stupid and just need to give it more time?!

beaniebaby25 · 22/05/2009 13:26

looser i should say, not loser

beaniebaby25 · 22/05/2009 13:27

hi kettle... it's not time of the month though (or even near) so I can't blame that...

HuffwardlyRudge · 22/05/2009 16:28

900 seems very low to me. I'm 5'4, looking to lose a lb a week, moderately active (2 small children) and I get about 1500 cals a day.

Are you losing with a specific date in mind?

If not, I'd be inclined to increase your allowance a bit tbh.

The thing about 900 cals is that it's not something you could ever incorporate into 'real life'. Well, I couldn't anyway! With more cals you can. Eg I had a massive and greasy Indian take away for lunch today, and while it wasn't ideal and I've gone over my cal allowance, I'm only 230 over which doesn't feel as though I've fallen off the wagon really. A little blip that I thoroughly enjoyed and overall I'm still doing really well and burning more cals than I'm eating over a week.

Gracie14 · 22/05/2009 20:36

Hey ladies,

Well I've been sticking to FF rigidly since monday and thought i'd take a peak at the scales this morning and I've lost 4lb I'm so pleased and hoping I have the willpower to carry this on.

One question, if you exercise and 'gain' calories can you use them up or are you not supposed to - sorry proberbly very silly question.

beanie - 900 calories seems very low to me I'm surprised your not feeling faint/dizzy especially with all the exercise you have been doing. I would definately try and increase the calories somehow. When I did slimming world (i know its not the same thing) one week I cut back loads and didn't lose anything and when my food diary was checked she said I wasn't eating enough so I increased the next week and lost 3lbs (very strange but true)

Fantastic weight losses on here which is very motivating

ducdo · 22/05/2009 21:23

I agree huffwardly, I have been running atleast 3 times each week and I wonder if my weight loss is slowing down slightly and I do think that is because I have gained more muscle.

The plus side is that I do feel healthier, clothes are looser and I feel soooo much better about myself so its not always about what the scales are telling us and we shouldn't be too disappointed if we don't loose weight every week.

We bought a BBQ yesterday and hoping to take advantage of the sunny weather here in London over next few days so will be hard to stick to cal intake with the BBQ on as find thats when I pile loads on the plate!

Cocobear · 22/05/2009 22:53

Hi all - Beanie are you anywhere near your goal weight? Sometimes things slow down considerably!

Otherwise don't get discouraged, it WILL come off. I've had weeks where scale didn't move, then dropped two pounds in day. I don't understand why.

beaniebaby25 · 23/05/2009 10:47

Ducdo - nowhere near target unfortunately. I think i'll give it another week on the 900 cals and if nothing shifts I'll rework my targets.

HuffwardlyRudge - yes i need to reach my weight target by mid july (holiday) and for my target loss of almost a stone at 2lbs a week, 900 cals is the magic number. Maybe i'll change the target to 1lbs a week cos i'd be happy with a half a stone loss by holiday, then i can continue to lose after. Will give it another week i think.

WEll done Gracie14!!

I'm off to enjoy the glorious weather, I'm also in London Ducdo - looks set to be a scorcher!

HuffwardlyRudge · 23/05/2009 17:36

Oh I've had an awful couple of days.

We've eaten out twice, and both times that one meal has been about my whole day's allowance.

I didn't go running today, or do any exercise at all really, except that we spent the day at an aquapark so I was active I suppose.

I have the worst cold ever. I feel (and look) dreadful. In fact, I think I might just die of snot, and then it won't matter if I'm wearing a size 10 shroud or not.

ducdo · 24/05/2009 19:44

Don't be disheartened by having an off day or two, just dust yourself off and start fresh the next day. It's easy to think 'i've eaten over my allowance so more won't make much difference' but then you will undo your hard work. Stick at it.

Good luck to all of us on Monday weigh in

Morning all. Lost another pound this morning so weighing in at 9 stone 13 .. so pleased to be under 10 stone for 1st time in about 8 yrs!

After the good news on the scales, I've just been on a 40 min run and home to a bagel with jam for breakfast. Perfect

reducedfatkettlechip · 25/05/2009 21:13

Hi everyone, it's pouring down here, can't believe the contrast from yesterday when we lazed on the beach and paddled in the (freezing) sea!

Have been out for a few meals this weekend, but run 4 miles today plus 20 mins on my new stepper thing so hopefully haven't done too much damage.

Have also eaten lots of salads to balance out the pizzas, glasses of wine and bowls of icecream

5 lbs to go, am going to focus again this week and try and get another pound or two off! 3 weeks until hols.. Hope everyone who's been away has had a good time.

reducedfatkettlechip · 25/05/2009 21:14

And well done ducdo, you are exactly where I want to be, can't wait to see a 9 on the scales!!

HuffwardlyRudge · 26/05/2009 06:31

I'm back on track so presumably doing okay weightwise. Haven't got any scales so haven't actually weighed for a while. Maybe I'll pop into Debenhams home dept and sneakily stand on some today!

Actually, I think I'm being a bit too strict tbh. Have started to view eating my cal allowance as a bad day, and being quite a bit under as a success. Silly.

Lucifera · 26/05/2009 08:27

Good morning all! Hope everyone has had lovely BH weekends, and perhaps some of you are now glad like me to see rain (it's pouring in London) for the sake of the garden. Although if you have DCs off for half term, I'm sorry.
Weighed in at 10.6 this morning, hurrah! After a couple of weeks barely shifting an ounce, have lost 3lb in the past week! Am recommending FF to all and sundry.

beaniebaby25 · 26/05/2009 11:25

morning everyone! Feeling slightly better today about the whole weight loss thing, did a day and a half of a juice diet on Sat and Sunday and managed to lose 3lbs from that, and weighed myself this morning and I've lost a further 1lb. So feeling better about it all.. looks like it's starting to pay off. Another Spin session tonight, 499 cals in the bag, so will treat myself to a glass of Chablis after dinner

Annner · 26/05/2009 13:41

Morning all. Back from three days of glorious camping in Dorset. I went over my allowance by about 600 over the whole weekend, so considering the wine guzzling, crisp chomping and ice cream slurping that went on, it wasn't toooooo bad, and over the past week overall my net average calories is still about 100 under my allowance.

Today the children are with our nanny so I got off to a good start with a 30 minute run on the roubounder and a delicate bagel and cottage cheese sarnie for lunch.

I'm due to weigh in tomorrow, but I'm not expecting to have shifted much. Don't know why; I do feel rather naughty for that ice cream. I was gutted though when the pub we went to didn't have any non fried options. I just seem to take aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to lose any at all. Filling it all in honestly on FF really does help, though. I'm not sure how to classify "putting tent up and chasing kids round camp site" as exercise, though. I think that I am doing the same as HuffwardlyRudge, and seeing coming in under as a success. And my body just loves hanging on to its fat...

badthingjusthappened · 27/05/2009 09:48

I'm bbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaacccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!

And I screwed up big time over the weekend and have put weight on I can't possibly disclose how much I put on as it's to shameful!

But we had a fab weekend and that's what really matters!

You all look like you're getting on well.

Beanie - That daily cal allowance sounds far to low. I read somewhere that if you have below 1000 cals a day then your body will store what you eat as fat as it thinks its being starved and put everything into reserve rather than burning the fat. Put your cal allowance up & I bet you start losing!

I've got to jump back into this and get the weight off (and then some) before a wedding we're going to in first week of June (yeah, right!)

Brill news about BMI, kettle, you lucky minx!

Where the blardy hell is TOMPD? I need her to gee me on Come back, TOMPD!!!

beaniebaby25 · 27/05/2009 10:00

Morning everyone.

Had another few good days, went to Spin last night and ended up with more than 500 unused calories for the day. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing?

I'm finding it really easy to keep to this though, as it's not a 'diet' as such.

I weighed 57kg this morning, the lowest I've weighed in a good few years. Fingers crossed i can get into 56kg tomorrow

Hope everyone's doing ok?

LastOrders · 27/05/2009 10:01

Ooops

Forgot to namechange back!

Thank god I didn't post my bad thing that just happened, or you'd all be searching it and my cover would be blown!! (and it wasn't that bad really!)

Annnyhhooo, I just found this site for Beanie to have a look at. It may explain why the weight isn't shifting. Note the word drastic!

beaniebaby25 · 27/05/2009 10:10

ooh, x-posts - welcome back badthing! Don't worry about the weekend, I'm sure if you get back on it this week and be super-focused it will all be fine.

And yes i did think 900 was a bit stingey... i seem to have started to lose now though so will keep it up and see how it goes. I don't feel like i'm depriving myself too much actually, i'm just being more conscious about snacks and doing more exercise. So think it will pay off.

Oh and top tip - Young's cod steaks in butter are DELICIOUS and only 104 calories per 'pouch' (boil in the bag) - I had one for dinner last night with two portions of peas, and wasn't hungry for the rest of the night! I couldn't find them on FF this morning though, the Birds Eye ones appear to have an extra 70 calories in.

beaniebaby25 · 27/05/2009 10:14

ooh interesting link lastorders... it does say it's good to kick-start a longer term weight loss though?

And I am only on target to lose 2lbs a week?

Right, I'll give it 'till Friday and then I'll reduce target to 1lb per week loss. I might lose it quicker then anyway...

wastingmyeducation · 27/05/2009 15:22

Hello all!
Had a great weekend in Wales, beautiful weather and did loads of walking, plenty of hills too. Ate lots of yummy food too.

Weighed in and I've lost another two pounds, so that's 4lb weight loss so far!

A lot of the food I'm eating is quite calorie dense, so I'm still hungry afterwards.
I need ideas for food that will fill me up without being too high in calories.

Ellibop · 27/05/2009 19:47

Girls I need halp!!

I've totally fallen off the wagon and can't seem to clamber back on...I haven't been entering my food onto FF for the past week in a deluded plan to just 'eat healthily' but of course I keep eating chocolate digestives and Maltesers intead!

I've only put 2lb back on which isn't too horrendous but Im struggling to get going again - helpful tips and motivation Pleeeeaasssse!!!
