I don't like Quorn brand mince, but Asda's own version is a lot nicer ime, I soak it in marmitey/bovril water first to oomph up the beefiness which makes a difference. A huge difference. As does making your meal ( spag sauce eg) the night before and leave the flavours to soak into the quorn.

You can't imo pass it off as meat. I like the quorn sausages and at 60 cals I think each, it's lovely and low cal Love them with mushy peas and mash

Changed my mind about the quorn brocolli thing, having pollock in parsley sauce instead.

UPDATE! still ok!!! just having my lunch now, had tuna and mayo with cucumber on ryvitas, slim a soup and about to have an Aldi Be light fromage frais for puds.

I feel FAB!

reducedfatkettlechip · 20/05/2009 14:19

hi everyone, went for a 6 mile run this morning (why emoticon!) and burned 660 calories(!!) but felt like death warmed up for a good hour afterwards. I think I've reached my limit, especially as it is very hilly where we are.

I am celebrating with a dinner of homemade quiche, coleslaw and new potatoes (from farm shop, not by me) Am looking forward to it already. How sad am I?

I am nearly target weight but still have bingo wings and wobbly inner thighs. What gets rid of this? Have always lost weight off thighs fairly quickly in the past but this is really stubborn and is resisting all the squats and leg lifts I'm doing..

Would love to be running in Dubai - followed by a cool dip in a pool bet it's hard work in the heat though, I struggled today and it's about 15 degrees down here..

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 20/05/2009 17:08

Amazingly still ok despite bad news on job front

Will take will of iron to not console myself in food, even knowing I will feel ten times worse for it.

I wish it were Friday...

Annner · 20/05/2009 18:01

Hello ladies, may I join you? After years of avoiding the issue, it's time to get down to a suitable "role model for the children" kind of size. I like the look of FF, and you ladies really seem to be doing brilliantly on it. I like the logic of "eat less food; do more exercise", but can I do it?

I want to look a little bit nicer in my swimming costume on holiday in July but am aiming for a concerted effort over the school holidays.

I lost a kilo last week before finding FF, so I'm hoping that it will help me to get there. I really seem to find it hard to lose, even when I am eating tiny calories and exercising.

I tend to eat healthily, but just too much of it. Oh, and the grazing off the kids' plates at teatimes.

So, here some my dodgy stats (blush)
Start weight 10st 13lb / 69.4kg
Goal weight 9st 11lb / 62.1kg

I'm only 5ft 2, so I'm pretty lardy.

Target loss/wk 1lb (0.5kg)
Target date 10 September 09

Target cals/day 1727
Cals burnt/day 2226

I've always found kilos easier to manage than stone, but I'll give it a go!

I've decided to equate my weekly pilates class with yoga on the exercise thingy, but how on earth should I classify boinging on my rebounder? I either do the Juicemaster workout (medium) or run/ bounce fairly intensively for 25 mins. Is it aerobics, running, or something else?

LastOrders · 20/05/2009 19:11

Welcome Annner - hope you settle into it well, we all have! good luck

Ellibop - It saves a load of time not entering things, but I'm not sure if I'm better off for it, as I can't see what is going in and how many cals. I'm going to wait till after my holiday and get back into it.

The weight is still coming off though, so I'm doing something right

TOMPD - Well done for having a better day. What's happened with job front?

Lastorders I've bought a new gimmick today - here it is God I'm fickle.

I reckon a large bowl of something low cal is ok, I often have a big bowl of soup and find it filling. Or a large jacket potato is really filling and fairly low cal. I did a stir fry with big mushrooms, aubergine, asparagus, tofu and mange tout last night and a spoonful of Thai green curry sauce. It was absolutely delicious and the calorie content was really low. Aubergines and mushrooms are brilliant - huge but almost calorie free!!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 20/05/2009 21:07

I am a CM ( for my sins ) and it's just been parent after parent being made redundant, and now my last one left from 5 previously has been told their work is closing this Saturday, so obv I am in effect being made redundant too.

Welcome Annner, and good luck to you

LastOrders · 20/05/2009 23:43

reducedfat - I used to have a Reebok one of those! The bungee cords work your arms well. Unfortunately though it didn't look to good in the corner of the room gathering dust so I sold it for £8 at a car boot sale!

But I'm bloody awful at sticking to things. My airwalker is redundant at the mo

TOMPD - Sorry to hear that. It's harsh, and affecting so many of us. You can look after my monkey - he's adorable but incredibly hectic!! His is, in effect, 5 children in 1

I'm going to bid you Ladies ta ta for now as I'm on hols Friday morn, and need to pack tomorrow so will probably not be around.

Good luck with the weekend, will be back tuesday

Here's to another 100% day for us all Have a fab holiday LO

oh and wouldnt you know LO I am suddenly full again overnight, what a miracle!!

HuffwardlyRudge · 21/05/2009 09:38

Hummmmm. I'm being good today but I'm a bit bored.

I quite fancy finishing off the large lump of Edam in the fridge. And then having a large jam sandwich. With lots of butter. And then a cup of tea with 3 or 6 Oreos. Maybe some frosting from the can. Then out for a coffee and a bun with the kids. Then maybe out for supper this evening so I don't have to cook.

Do you know, that actually would have been an entirely reasonable eating plan for me a couple of weeks ago .

Putting it down in black and white strengthens my resolve.

Today I have had weetabix and yogurt for breakfast (dh finished the milk ), and flatbread with labneh and an apple for lunch. Am having a diet pepsi to satisfy junk food cravings.

Have a good holl LO - look forward to the running when you get back!

Gracie123 · 21/05/2009 14:06

I'm loving foodfocus. I just lost 5lb in 6 days! It's amazing.

HuffwardlyRudge · 21/05/2009 15:11

Just weighed myself.

Lost 5lb in a week.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 15:18

that is amazing it has taken me 5 weeks to lose 5lb.

LastOrders · 21/05/2009 15:24

There are two things I should be doing at this moment in time.

  1. Packing to go on holiday
  1. Watching what I eat.

However, I am currently sat at the computer MNing, whilst eating a Rolo McFlurry...

Strong willed, I ain't!

Love how the new FF members are doing so well but us 'old school' seem to have got into a terrible rut!!

I'm really going to pack now. Honest

OP posts:
HuffwardlyRudge · 21/05/2009 17:45

CdyouWdyou - I probably had more than you to lose to start with

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 17:47

yes i shall cling to the thought i am plateauing and it had nothing to do with the 2 weekends of solid partying and cake eating!

reducedfatkettlechip · 21/05/2009 21:14

Woo hoo, my BMI is 22. something for the first time since dc's!! I caught sight of my reflection yesterday and actually didn't recognise myself for a moment without the huge arse I've been lugging around since ds2 arrived!!

So have allowed myself a Wispa (yummy!!) tonight to celebrate, but am out running again tomorrow as am having some girls over for lardy nibbles and wine tomorrow evening which is bound to be calorific..

Happy holidays everyone who's going away. We live near the sea so will be going to the beach if the weather behaves.

wastingmyeducation · 21/05/2009 21:19

LastOrders - snap! I hate packing. Have a good time!

Well done kettlechip! That's fab, dead on perfect BMI according to the Wii Fit.

I've done ok today, not been out, so very little exercise, but healthy food.

See you after the weekend.

ducdo · 21/05/2009 21:58

Welcome to Annner, you're stats are similar to mine when started about 5 wks ago at 10 stone 8 starting (height 5 ft 2) and goal 9 stone 12. I am down to 10 stone so lost 8 pounds and so so pleased, its the lightest I've been in years since my 3 babies came along.

chip loving the wispa treat, how many cals was that? I LOVE them! I did the same thing couple of days ago catching reflection in the mirror and instead of being horrified with what I saw, I was amazed at the difference and quite happy to stand there a bit longer in my bra and knickers to see how much my body shape is changing .. for the better .. finally and thanks to FF and you guys on this thread

Not feeling so on top of things today and for the first time since I started, helped eat the kids leftovers at dinner which I know is big no no. felt awful afterwards, wasn't even worth it, just felt v. disappointed in myself. Need to get back on track tomorrow, kids break up for half term this week so be tougher than normal ... watch this space and happy hols to all of you going away you lucky things

Cocobear · 21/05/2009 22:31

Could you... it's also taken me 5 weeks to lose 5 pounds, and without the partying and cake. But at least it's off.

Must drag myself back to the gym tonight. We have a 'baile' tomorrow night and my twirly skirt just about fits... one more run should do it!

Annner · 21/05/2009 23:22

Ohh, Ducdo I'd like to be losing 5lb pretty soon... I was fairly horrified when I realised what my BMI really was - and how far there was to go to take me back to normal range for my height. It would be easier to be stretched and to grow into my weight, I feel

Just had a reasonably good day today. Scraped kids's plates into the bin with only one small shlurp (which I counted in!) and then survived the afternoon on a banana and an apple after my ohsovirtuous cottage cheese sandwich. Pilates this evening, so not exactly a huge calorie burn but still came in under. Wish me luck for the weekend!

I'm v nervous about weighing in next week, as in the past I've always become demoralised quickly as I just don't seem to lose much very quickly.

We're off camping for the weekend, which will be scary: all that wine, eggy bread and evening nibbles with a roaring appetite from being outside all day.

beaniebaby25 · 22/05/2009 07:58

I weighed myself this morning... I've not lost a single thing since last friday. Despite me:

Going to 3x45 minute spin classes
running twice for 30 mins a time
walking everywhere
no booze
surviving on 900 cals a day (and pretty much sticking to it)

Why oh why oh why!?

Hope everyone has a good weekend, Anner and lastorders, and anyone else who's going away. I shall be staying here in London trying hard to deny myself even more cals and do at least two runs. Fun fun fun!

beaniebaby25 · 22/05/2009 08:00

And can i clarify that 'walking everywhere' means walking to and from work - four miles a day at a brisk pace.

Waaaaaaahh!

HuffwardlyRudge · 22/05/2009 10:54

But Beanie, muscle is heavier than fat, and it sounds as though you've been doing lots to make muscle. And there are SO MANY variables when it comes to weight. I don't really understand why it is seen as a good way of monitoring getting slimmer.

You stayed the same. You didn't go up.

Are you feeling healthier?
Are your clothes looser?
Are you feeling good about yourself?

reducedfatkettlechip · 22/05/2009 13:22

Beanie, sometimes this happens to me (usually around time of the month) and then I seem to lose a couple of pounds in two days. It will keep going off, agree that it sounds like you're building muscle..
