Good luck for tomorrow - you may surprise yourself Lastorders

I'm away to Inverness shopping tomorrow so that will be a challenge esp as we normally go to KFC or the most delicious coffeeshop who make fab cakes. Oh and the Ben & Jerrys shop too

Will have a cal counted sarnie from M&S/Boots and be good.

LastOrders · 08/05/2009 18:12

Ahhh, TOMPD, treat yourself!

A little bit of what you fancy and all that

And you have had a fantastic loss recently!

Ben & Jerrys is calorie free on a saturday, a little known lie fact for you there

Nope I really can't. I need to stay in control of this as long as I can and need to know the calories in what I am eating, even if I do go over I need that control over it.

I have ishoos. Binging. Once I open that floodgate...

Hi all,

Since starting FF I've now lost 5lb in two and a half weeks, which I'm extremely pleased with - my starting weight was 9st 6lb and goal is 8st 12lb.

During that time I've overdone it on wine and cake (several birthdays), but have still managed to lose small amounts...I take the view that as long as the home page shows a projected weight loss each day, then that's fine - I'm not in too much of hurry to lose it and I know from experience that denying yourself treats is the way to failure.

Exercise is what makes the difference - if I feel like a treat, or I've had one, which would take me over the limit I do something like take the dog for a walk or get the Wii trainer out.

Good luck to everyone else, especially those of you who've joined in recently.

reducedfatkettlechip · 08/05/2009 20:25

Ooh Lastorders, that's a real bargain for £15. Will be waiting to hear how you get on. Where will you store it though? I would need to boot the dc's out of their playroom and turn it into a gym!

After 7 weeks of doing this, I've managed to drag lots of long lost items from the depths of my wardrobe, it's a lovely feeling.

The bizarre flipside is that a friend actually rang today to say a couple of people at playgroup were concerned about me as I seem to have lost weight very quickly, was I ok?.. Am still 10st 8 and bmi of 23 so hardly underweight by anyone's standards. And it's taken 7 weeks to drop the weight so not really that sudden. It's just that I'm not wearing baggy stuff anymore so it's showing now.

ducdo · 08/05/2009 20:36

Hi all, you know on the homepage of FF, where it says Approx Weight Loss 0.25 lb ... is that what they expect my weight loss to be as at today, since my last weigh in (last Monday), or is that their projected weight loss for me today as I have eaten 1359 cals out of an allowance of 1459 cals?

LastOrders · 08/05/2009 20:44

ducdo - I think that is what they expect you to have lost since last weigh in. Mine has been on the same amount all week

kettle - I live in a small cramped flat, so the contraption is going in the middle of the living room and staying there until I shift this weight! Even if I have to walk round it everyday and shoo DS off of it every 5 mins, it'll be worth it!

It folds up and will slide behind the sofa, but I know once I do that I'll never get back on. So I've concluded that all the while it's staring me in the face I have to use it

And great news about fitting into clothes that have been gathering dust at the back of the wardrobe. I long for that day...

ducdo · 08/05/2009 20:47

thanks Lastorders, well that's pathetic then so better work harder if I want atleast one pound off by Monday morning. Bet it was that bl**dy pizza last night .. oh well

reducedfatkettlechip · 08/05/2009 21:00

LastOrders, at that image. I would be forever shooing the boys off mine. I'd tone my arms up lifting them off if nothing else!

I think I've been reading the weight loss estimate wrong, I thought it was what you'd lost that day according to your calorie burn/food intake. Damnit!!

LastOrders · 08/05/2009 21:10

Oh, maybe it is, and it's me getting it all wrong

OP posts:
reducedfatkettlechip · 08/05/2009 21:15

Had a look on the help page and am no wiser. Never mind, either way it doesn't seem to be accurate for me so shall ignore it!

LastOrders · 09/05/2009 08:08

I've just had my Saturday morning weigh in.......

......I've lost just under 3lb!!!

And there was me worrying that I'd put on!!!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

good morning

brilliant lastorders that's great news! That's a fab loss.

I am also confused about that weight loss figure of ff. Whether it is an estimate of the days weight loss etc. I wonder if it is an estimate of the days weight loss based on the amount of calories it would have taken to maintain original weight and then minus whatever you have eaten.

Does anyone know how to work out what calories are needed to maintain once you have reached your goal?

Hope you have good weekends x

ducdo · 09/05/2009 09:13

well done Lastorders, great news )

changednam · 09/05/2009 12:11

Excellent lastorders!

I'm sure the approximate weight loss is per day, not for the week - mine records very small amounts each day (e.g. 0.07lb yesterday, 0lb for my birthday last week!) and I've set my goal as a 1lb a week loss which is roughly right.

If I put my goal lower than 1lb per week loss, the calorie target per day is ridiculously low - 800 or so - which I don't think would be healthy.

Once you've reached goal, I imagine setting your new target as 0 weight loss would give you the calories you need to maintain your goal weight.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 09/05/2009 14:42

Thanks for the welcome,
Can anyone explain to me the net calories thing?
is it meaning that I need to eat far more to compensate for the calories I am burning or burn far more for the calories I am eating IYKWIM?

lilianfox · 09/05/2009 23:15

Hi

Bythepowerofgreyskull:I have looked on ff dashboard and I can see target net calories: I think target net calories are the amount of calories you can eat per day and lose the amount of weight that you have set as your goal. i.e. i have chosen 1.5 lb loss.

For example, my net calorie goal is 1078 per day whereas my normal calorie burn if I were not trying to lose weight would be 1827. If you eat less than the net cals they suggest then you might lose more weight and if you eat more then you could do some exercise to burn it off. I think it says on the website that if you need to burn 3,500 cals to lose 1lb.

thanks changednam i've had a little play around with the figures and that's right. It looks like my cals will be 1827 to maintain.

off on holiday next and rather nervous about whether i will be able to maintain and even lose. I know my main weakness will be icecream. Does anyone know roughly how many calories an icecream cone would be? i have tried to have a look on ff but could only find one generic cone which said 149 cals. Does that sound low? Anyone got any tips for going on holiday and not overeating?

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 09/05/2009 23:37

Lilianfox, will have a look tomorrow but just wanted to share a tip from SW days, to have icecream in a cup rather than a cornet as saves a wee bitty on the calorie side (esp if Thorntons waffle/chocolate type!)

Lastorders, that's fabulous not going to say I told you so but...

I was out all day today and managed to come in under cals, despite lunch in Starbucks - ham and mushroom crepe 150 cals and a "skinny" muffin that was still a hefty 286 cals
Even went to the flicks (Star Trek, V good!) and managed to not have anything there to munch. Am very impressed with myself

leothelioness · 10/05/2009 07:34

well done last orders on you loss and welcome greyskull
I think I will have put on this week as I have been eating loads and hardly exercising I feel really bloated and really need a kick up the backside to get a move on but I have been feeling too tired but I donot have to weigh until thursdayso I just need to get back into it.

LastOrders · 10/05/2009 10:14

Well done TOMPD, you're willpower shows no bounds!!

I took DS to see Spongebob Live yesterday and succumbed to half time ice cream , but I left over half as it tasted horrible

Has anyone else found that they can't eat as much as they used to? Is stomach shrinking a bit of a myth or not? Because I really struggled with my lunch yesterday, which wouldn't normally be a problem pre FF days!

Kettlechip - I picked up the Airwalker yesterday and (after cleaning it down from dog hair and other rankness, yuk) I've been on it. It's great fun! Really works arms (bye bye bingo wings) and legs. And even better when Boyf had a go and tipped the whole thing back, resulting in me burning 1000 calories laughing my ass off!!

But from the looks of 'things' the man I bought it off didn't really use it....

How's everyone managing today? Sundays can be hard

We went out this am to return a printer to Argos and it didn't open till 12 not 11 as we thought, so sat in Starbucks for an hour nursing a mug of black coffee and then had a low fat carrot cake slice, then had a subway to bring home ( surprisingly low if you have plain wheat bread and avoid sauces and cheese)

Got some housework, ebay listing and packing up and gardening to do this afternoon, and decide what to have for dinner tonight.

ducdo · 10/05/2009 19:58

Have struggled a bit today and felt quite hungry and keen to raid tub of pringles or chocs in the cupboard. Thought of my weigh in tomorrow morning keeps holding me back though..

Went to Lido with kids this afternoon and my mum treated us all to ice cream cornets and would have been rude to refuse!!.. was delicious and hopefully if I don't eat too much for dinner should not exceed my daily cal intake so fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone else with a Monday weigh in

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 10/05/2009 21:42

good luck for the morning Ducdo I think I am looking at 1lb unless it suddenly vanishes overnight again

ducdo · 11/05/2009 07:56

I AM JUMPING FOR JOY, weighed in this morning with a 2 lb loss at 10 st 1 which means I've hit the half stone loss

I am sooooooo pleased. Would not have done this without FF and all you guys support on here, so THANK YOU and let the good work continue. WHOOOOPEEEEE

Have a good day everyone and good luck to everyone else x
