Hi, I'm new here but very impressed with all your recipes - thanks! I did SW in the past and it worked really well. Been going 4 weeks now and finding it tough to get going as life has got in the way - hopefully your recipes will help this week!

ladymariner · 18/02/2009 19:18

Hi all, well done to everyone. I'm still following the SW diet, I've lost 12lbs in the last 5 weeks so very happy

However, I still have at least 2 stones to go though, so not that happy yet!!!

Our class leader said the Morrisons egg sandwich filler, (the lighter one) was free aswell! Hurrah!

LittleMissFickle · 05/03/2009 06:42

well done on your weight loss hope i do as well this week.
in answer to your question from 24 feb i have found this little clip off the internet hope it helps.

Muscle does not weigh more than fat, any more than lead weighs more than feathers. A pound is a pound is a pound. Where the misunderstanding often comes in is that muscle is much more dense than fat, so that, by volume, it seems to weigh more. That is, a pound of muscle occupies less space than a pound of fat. In addition, because a pound of muscle burns more fat than a pound of fat, even at rest, by increasing your lean muscle tissue mass, you're helping your body burn more calories.
But back to your question. If you only have a small amount of weight to lose, then you may feel like the weight training is not helping you move down on the scale. In fact, the number may even go up, but you will look thinner. This is due to an increase in lean body mass (muscle, bone, blood volume) and a decrease in body fat. In other words, even if the scale doesn't change much, you will probably see a difference in how your clothes fit.

On the other hand, if you have a lot of weight to lose, you will also experience an increase in lean body mass and loss of body fat. But the results on the scale will probably be more dramatic.

hunnybun1981 · 05/03/2009 08:46

thanks for that littlemissfickle!

i suppose i have 2 stone to lose for ideal bmi.

so i will just keep doing what i am and hopefully it will come off.

good luck for ur weigh in

AitchTwoOh · 05/03/2009 13:13

hello ladies, i'm keen to get rid of the alarming post-dd2 gut that i've got going (thanks to my unstoppable chocolate biscuit habit, i fear).

so i went to a slimming world class, having lost weight with them before and found it v enjoyable... but i don't understand it any more.

red day/ green day is all very familiar but what's the thinking behind the extra easy and the mix to max things? they look promising but i can't make head nor tail of them really.

can anyone help a bear of little brain but sizeable stomach?

nikkid21 · 05/03/2009 14:55

well done hunnybun on the 4lb. I weighed in this morning and lost 4 1/2. Am very pleased as when I was on it before it was only ever 1 or 2 per week.

Aitchtwoo - Extra easy is new to me but the consensus at my group is that it's good to get started on but once you get near target you need to go to the more traditional red / green. The basis of EE is that you can eat anything that's free on red or green days. If food has a different syn value for red or green you take whichever is lowest. The trade off is that you only get 1 heA and heB per day. They also reccomend that a third of your meal should be superfree - ie free on red or green.

Can't help on mix to max as I never really looked at it.

LittleMissFickle · 05/03/2009 15:07

Is anyone else like me,do any of you feel the need to weigh yourself every day, just incase youve lost some weight.

day 1 lost nothing.

nikkid21 · 05/03/2009 15:47

I don't as it doesn't really show anything and can dishearten you or make you too confident so that you eat the wrong things.

You can see how it doesn't show anything by weighing yourself one morning and then the same evening. You can gain up to 3lb throughout the day. The other one is weigh yourself brfore you have you main meal of the day and then after - this too can have a 1 or 2lb difference.

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 06:35

I know every thing you say is true, but i just carnt help myself.Congratulations on the 4 1/2 lbs loss. This week i am trying green days,i have only ever done red days before now so i hope they work as well.

day 2 lost 1/2 pound

hunnybun1981 · 06/03/2009 09:05

well done on loss nikkid21 thats fantastic, i had a bit of an off day yesterday, off to gym this mornig keep me away from the biscuits.

littlemissfickle yes i weigh myself most days although have tried to stop it recently.

have a good day everyone

ProfYaffle · 06/03/2009 09:21

Ooh, 2 SW threads, how confusing! I'm going to shamelessly boast here as well then, only lost 1lb in my first week so was really disappointed but lost 3lbs this week - thank the Lord, thought I was doing something wrong

Now I'm off to sign up for Race for Life to motivate me to get some exercise.

nikkid21 · 06/03/2009 12:30

well done - it feels fab when it works doesn't it?

ProfYaffle · 06/03/2009 12:41

Thanks

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 13:31

Just made the featured recipe on SW beef danansak, there a hell of a lot of sauce with a few bits of meat floating around.i think i will take half the sauce out add extra chilli and freeze it in batches to eat with my SW chips.i will let you know later what the family think of it.

LittleMissFickle · 06/03/2009 18:16

SW beef dhansak, the family say dont make it again and i agree with them.dont make it dont waste your time or money

LittleMissFickle · 07/03/2009 06:52

Ok i slipped up a bit last night, had 3 cans of stella,i blame it on the horrible beef dhansak had to wash it down with something.start again this morning.applepudding says the chicken dopazia is nice so i will try that in the week.
Day 3 lost 2 1/2 pounds this morning
i bet i put it back on tomorrow

Gracie14 · 07/03/2009 17:53

Hey all,

I'm planning on starting slimming world classes (again!) from monday. Had DS in September last year (having gained 4 stone whilst pregnant) I lost 2 stone pretty easily then started slimming world in Dec and managed to lose another stone and then lost complete motivation and now need to get back on track. I'm currently a size 14 and want to be a comfortable size 12.

Need to lose a stone and a half - I have so many 'occasions' this year to look good for including bridesmaid in July and don't want to be unhappy with how I look so need to start doing something about it now before I feel worse.

So hope you don't mind me joining, also wanted to ask a question. Can you take children to slimming world meetings?
